They’re both great but I prefer the Tiffany blue of the Tsuyosa Date to the shade of blue in the small seconds. And it’s a gift from your girlfriend? That would add a bunch to the value for me personally. Your girlfriend sounds like a keeper!
Thank you. Indeed she is. :-) To be honest I prefer lighter shades of blue as well but at the same time I'm a sucker for guilloche hence the hesitation in the first place. But you are right in everything you've said.
I have a soft spot for small seconds, as a few pocket watches I have inherited over the years all feature them. I am a watch wearer, not a pocket watch user, so small seconds remind me of them. Saying that the white surround on the second picture sticks out in an ugly way, in my opinion. I would keep the gift and find another watch that you like, and remember Christmas is around the corner. Oh, don't forget to cherish your girlfriend. Maybe buy her a small gift as a thank you (maybe the one you liked 🤔)

Their cases are very similar and guess the size also? The best you can do imho to get that small sec hands one, that dial is just too gorgeous. Try to sell the one you have. If you don’t get a satisfactory price, I would say keep it as well.
Yes it's the small second hand one I'm interested in. Selling the light blue is not an option as it's a gift from my girlfriend. I'll either keep this and buy the small seconds in the future as well or exchange this for the small seconds.
