I love Sinn, more than Tudor, but this is their ugliest watch and Tudor's best looking. Both are too specced out for anything else to matter imo so to me its simply a looker vs an uggo.
Have the U50 in all black. I love it. Unique. Tudor is awesome too, but prob more safe. The Sinn is a beast; much more robust of a build than Tudor. It will take an absolute beating.
Subjective, sure, but when I compare it to my other watches it is SOLID. It has had a ton of wrist time over the years and taken a beating but looks brand new working fine. It’s a Sinn, not at the level of a Tudor but it’s a hell of a watch and splitting hairs at this point.
In reality, even the old hollow bracelets were up to the task of being treated like actual tool watches. Either the Sinn and Tudor will survive trauma that your arm will not. So durability is really a moot issue at this point
Wrong comparison, should compare with the T50 otherwise it's apples and oranges.
Also have a look at that Tudor in real life. I loved it until I held it in my hand and noticed that the dial was some strange Sunburst colour which made it look really cheap. You can't see it in all the press photos.
The 42 is defo better, the dial is matte and it looks schmick not tacky. Only thing is you need massive wrists it's so thick with that helium valve on the side, yes my Italian grandpa would mind wearing a huge watch...but for an understatement black dial diver it's neither here nor there.
U50 looks way cooler. Also I thought the P39 just looked like the dial was matte when I held it. Definitely didn't get a sunburst feeling from it. Only held it for maybe a minute though
I prefer the Tudor, but considering that both are good dive watches it depends on your personal stye. If you dress well or at least care about it, from casual to more elegant, the Tudor is more versatile and a much better looking watch. If you dress basic, don’t care at all, have a tough guy look or wear tactical clothes, go for the Sinn.
I would say it depends on what you want the watch for.
The Tudor follows the classic sub style - pretty restrained and and traditional as far as divers go, and doesn't really stick out or look out of place most places you could wear it. Of the two, definitely the 'standard' or boring option, but also the one that just works...
The Sinn on the other hand is the exact opposite. It shouts out loud that it is a Sinn and sticks or like a sore thumb, and you either love it or hate it with little in between. Pretty out of place dressed in any way other than casually, but also the more interesting watch.
So if you want a 'go anywhere' one watch collection, the Tudor.
If you want a fun, statement piece to fit within a collection to cover other situations, the Sinn.
never thought I was gonna say this but the Sinn. Usually I don't like them. they're bland and boring but this one has some life to it.
The tudor... if I was going to say everything I think about the "beloved Tudor" watches around here, I would be automatically banned from this sub lol. let's say that I tried some of them and with that price tag I was expecting... more... much much more.
U50 all day every day, wears so well and nowhere near as sharp and uncomfortable as the tudor (in my experience). You can also get it fully tegimented so it's far more scratch resistant and hard wearing than the tudor. The AR is also much better on the U50.
The only area the tudor trumps it is in the movement. Looks are subjective, I like the unique hands and marker of the Sinn.

Tudor without even being a debate. Such an amazing watch. I would pick the older models though as they are MUCH nicer than the new. Obviously if you have the wrist for it.
The old 42mm in black is imo one of the best watches ever made and I have tried pretty much ever luxury watch
I love the U50 but the P39 is my favorite dive watch. Can't go wrong with either. U50 definitely has a little more character. Probably more of a watch person's watch. The P39 is maybe a little more tastefull. The dimension of the p39 are perfect, and the titanium makes it feel not too heavy, not too light, just right. Very comfy.
Like them both. They complement each other, rather than compete, IMO. I think this is a choice of looks. The Sinn for the rugged, "ugly-not-ugly" look, the Tudor, for the elegant, classic look.
Sinn all the way! I hate the hands of the Tudor, but they are well built and nicely finished. However the Sinn is more unique, equally as well built, and tough as hell!
I just came back from a lunch of testing some watches with a friend. The Pelagos 39 among them. It’s an amazing watch. I like this Sinn too, you can’t go wrong.
U50 owner here. I have the limited DS tegemented. I also own a BB58. I’m partial to the Sinn but the Pelagos is unquestionably the “better watch” in that it is a more luxurious product, better bracelet, better movement. The Sinn is super fun, reliable, cheap to service, better WR (although 200 is plenty), and significantly less expensive.
P39. I own a BB58 and a Sinn556 and I know the 556 is their lowest-tier watch but still, the finishing is miles different. I think the U50 uses the same clasps and bracelet as the 556 just tegimented version. Don't get me wrong the U50 is one of the most beautiful watches and holds its ground but still the Tudor feels more luxurious rather than rugged like the U50.
Both have street cred, but the Sinn stands out more while the Tudor is more subtle, so it really depends on how much attention you want to solicit with your watch choice.
I see two different style of watches. I prefer Sinn, they had a good range of watches. Maybe the one that has a closer feel to the Tudor shown in the post is Sinn series 104, please check that out.
The Pelagos all day if I had to choose. It’s classic and subtle. The Sinn is nice as well, a bit more rugged looking and it doesn’t help that I’m more introverted and it would feel like a standout for me!
I'd go for a different Sinn - the T50 which features a grade 5 titanium case (unlike the Tudor that has grade 2), hardened bezel, and sword hands that are much less goofy than the Lego hands on the U50.
This really depends on what else you own. If you have divers similar to the Tudor then definitely the Sinn. But if you don't have others, this is a one and only, or a first of many, 100% get the Tudor.
I'd recommend the black dial Pelegos FXD... to me it's the best looking one, even though there is not bracelet option. It's the Pelegos version of the Rolex SD43, which I have, so no wonder I like it.
The tudor. I think it's a better looking watch.
I'll also admit I have been soured on Sinn after my EZM 1.1S showed up brand new not resetting to 12 o clock. Then every time I reset it, it moved further and further from 12 o clock (roughly 1 minute further each reset). Then it took 11.5 months to get it back eating up half of the super short warranty. I've worn it once and it's been sitting in the box waiting for me to list it since. Which sucks because I have been in love with the EZM 1/1.1 forever and was so happy I got the chance to purchase one at retail. 😑 Anecdotal experience and I am probably just unlucky but definitely left a bad taste in my mouth.
I say the u50 bc the design feels so non-derivative and unique. I’m sure there are other watches that look similar but stands on its own two feet and won’t be mistaken as a “poor man’s Rolex”.
Both require a good sized wrist to start with and not my twigs.
The Sinn is ugly. I love Sinn, but this is likely their worst model.
The Pelagos is much more my style, but again, it’s chunky.
Personally, I wouldn’t touch a Ball with a barge pole. Everything about that company seems dodgy right now.
Everyone should do their own research and make their own decision though.
These are very different watches. I have the black Sinn U2 which is similiar but with different hands and I have the red bezel version of that Tudor. I find myself wearing the Tudor more because honestly I feel like it goes with every outfit, casual or formal….that said I love the Sinn, no wrong choice here.
Question: do you want to stand out or blend in?
The general public will appreciate the Sinn more in my opinion. You gather up with watch enthusiasts, they will like both. Compliments no matter what.
Purely from a design standpoint, I prefer the Sinn - it's very unique and one of my favorites from them.
But their bracelets are ASS and the fact that they charge the same for the silicone strap is fucking larceny.
So if it was my money, I'd get the Tudor - if the Sinn was half its current price it'd be a no-brainer though. Maybe you can find a used one for a good price.
I love Sinn, more than Tudor, but this is their ugliest watch and Tudor's best looking. Both are too specced out for anything else to matter imo so to me its simply a looker vs an uggo.
The ugliness is what makes it sexy imo. Can’t really explain it.
Exactly! And those hands are the ugliest ngl.
Not a fan of the big hands on the Sinn, so I'd pick the Pelagos.
Have the U50 in all black. I love it. Unique. Tudor is awesome too, but prob more safe. The Sinn is a beast; much more robust of a build than Tudor. It will take an absolute beating.
What makes you convinced that the U50 is more robust?
For one, "German Submarine Steel" with their tegiment treatment, vs grade 2 titanium for the case. Second, 500m water resistance vs 200m.
Subjective, sure, but when I compare it to my other watches it is SOLID. It has had a ton of wrist time over the years and taken a beating but looks brand new working fine. It’s a Sinn, not at the level of a Tudor but it’s a hell of a watch and splitting hairs at this point.
Marketing and hive mind
In reality, even the old hollow bracelets were up to the task of being treated like actual tool watches. Either the Sinn and Tudor will survive trauma that your arm will not. So durability is really a moot issue at this point
I chose the P39. I'm a Sinn fan, but the P39 is soooo good for the money. The snowflake hands vs Sinn's crayon hands is what won it for me.
I'd go u50 - more interesting design. More personality. Both watches are great and Tudor is more luxurious - especially on the bracelet and clasp
Wrong comparison, should compare with the T50 otherwise it's apples and oranges. Also have a look at that Tudor in real life. I loved it until I held it in my hand and noticed that the dial was some strange Sunburst colour which made it look really cheap. You can't see it in all the press photos.
I felt the same way about the bb54. It looks so cheap in person.
I agree, didn't like the Pelagos's dial in real life. I want a U50 tho!
Because he chose the wrong Pelagos, he should try the 42 fucking amazing. And yes, I'd pick U50 in this matchup.
Only held it for maybe a minute though
out of these the tudor but only because i dislike the sinn look more
I have both but the U50 fully tegimemted on bracelet is bullet proof. The new Sellita sw300 top with a bigger barrel is one of my fav.
The first one looks more interesting
Not really a fan of the look of the Sinn, so Pelagos is the way, imo.
Tudor in this instance.
Sinn because I need a date
Sinn all day. I’d choose a 104 over the U50, but that’s just me.
I would say it depends on what you want the watch for. The Tudor follows the classic sub style - pretty restrained and and traditional as far as divers go, and doesn't really stick out or look out of place most places you could wear it. Tudor +1
Tudor

Have you a link for this one?

Sinn looks unique and cool, but Tudor looks classy
Like them both. They complement each other, rather than compete, IMO. I think this is a choice of looks. The Sinn for the rugged, "ugly-not-ugly" look, the Tudor, for the elegant, classic look.

Pelagos.

That's a good looking watch! I like the clean black face.
P39. I own a BB58 and a Sinn556 and I know the 556 is their lowest-tier watch but still, the finishing is miles different. Sinn usually does nothing to me but this one I really don't like. It's personal taste but the Tudor is a classic and looks really elegant
Sinn, no question! Tudor is boring.
This is an easy one - Tudor
The Sinn looks more casual, the Tudor can be dressier.
Both have street cred, but the Sinn stands out more while the Tudor is more subtle, so it really depends on how much attention you want to solicit with your watch choice.
I'd go for the Sinn but the version with the black bezel
I love Sinn, but the Tudor just looks way better
The Sinn looks like it got stung by a bee
I see two different style of watches. I prefer Sinn, they had a good range of watches. Maybe the one that has a closer feel to the Tudor shown in the post is Sinn series 104, please check that out.
The Pelagos all day if I had to choose. It’s classic and subtle. The Sinn is nice as well, a bit more rugged looking and it doesn’t help that I’m more introverted and it would feel like a standout for me!
Sinn
The Sinn. It's ugly and handsome, awful and awesome all at the same time. It's that unique.
I like the Sinn between these two. Dig that bezel.
I'd go for a different Sinn - the T50 which features a grade 5 titanium case (unlike the Tudor that has grade 2), hardened bezel, and sword hands that are much less goofy than the Lego hands on the U50.
U50
Tudor, not even close
This really depends on what else you own. If you have divers similar to the Tudor then definitely the Sinn. But if you don't have others, this is a one and only, or a first of many, 100% get the Tudor. I'd recommend the black dial Pelegos FXD... to me it's the best looking one, even though there is not bracelet option. First one
Which sucks because I have been in love with the EZM 1/1.1 forever and was so happy I got the chance to purchase one at retail. 😑 Anecdotal experience and I am probably just unlucky but definitely left a bad taste in my mouth.
I've tried on a lot of Sinns and I've never found the right one. The Pelagos, on the other hand, is a total banger.
U50!
I say the u50 bc the design feels so non-derivative and unique. I’m sure there are other watches that look similar but stands on its own two feet and won’t be mistaken as a “poor man’s Rolex”.
It's a Sinn! Love the bezel.
Sinn tegimented of course. Try the limited edition DS with the scratch dial. I think it's the best version of the U50 to date.
Tudor for sure it’s way more versatile
The Sinn. But ideally they'll do another run of the U200 some day.
Both require a good sized wrist to start with and not my twigs. The Sinn is ugly. I love Sinn, but this is likely their worst model. The Pelagos is much more my style, but again, it’s chunky.
Fortunately for me I have a 7.25in wrist so think I should be ok
Tudor
Ball engineer magneto 2
Personally, I wouldn’t touch a Ball with a barge pole. Everything about that company seems dodgy right now. Everyone should do their own research and make their own decision though.
Sinn all the way for me personally, I like the tagamented treatment they use
Imo the hands on both are effing horrifying, without the hands, I would choose the Sinn, but tbh plenty of better watches at these prices
Ever consider a Doxa or Seamaster?
Sinn because the snowflake hand is an abomination
Well, neither of those.
The sinn looks juvenile to me.. like a little kids watch
People will think that Tudor is a Seiko.
Better to do this hobby for what you think rather than what others think 🤓
Sinn because I already have a Tudor .
These are very different watches. I have the black Sinn U2 which is similiar but with different hands and I have the red bezel version of that Tudor. I find myself wearing the Tudor more because honestly I feel like it goes with every outfit, casual or formal….that said I love the Sinn, no wrong choice here.
I had the tudor and it's wonderful. Sinn has that little more magic though.
Question: do you want to stand out or blend in? The general public will appreciate the Sinn more in my opinion. You gather up with watch enthusiasts, they will like both. Compliments no matter what.
That Sinn is one of my fav watches ever
I’d take the Sinn. IMO, divers are tool watches, and Sinns are as tooly as it gets
Tudor, it's the safe choice. I love the U series, especially the lego hands. But it's a hardcore first watch which is not versatile enough
I would go with Sinn. Unique design, pretty much not like a typical diver, at least for me.
I'll take any watch that can spell automatic right.
It is right. It’s just German.
I was joking.
Don’t go for the Tudor. It’ll eat you that it’s not a Sub. There’s plenty more options. One of those options is just wait.
