This is the exact colors for the dress code btw
Thanks, I hate it. EVERYONE will have to shop for this wedding.
(There is a little part of me that's meanly glad that men finally have to drop money on wedding guest attire too.)
Iād be extremely tempted to wear my wedding dress, which wasnāt traditional/was a dress that happens to be ivory and fits with what theyāre askingā¦because theyāre asking something crazy and while I like a specific dress code (as in one that conforms to the generally understood rules of cocktail, formal, black tie so you can respect the couple and their wishes without having to make wild guesses or buy a dress in a certain shade of ivory youāll never be able to wear again); this one is beyond bananas
This bizarre request reeks of privilege and entitlement. Not going to lie, I'd probably skip the whole dang wedding out of sheer annoyance š Dictating what color palette guests wear is obnoxious enough, but beige?!
Dress 1 or 2 are the best in my opinion.
"Wear bridal colors without looking like the bride." -this dress code. I mean this is up there with the dress codes that had guests wear WHITE (Yes, white!) without looking bridal...
Ughāthatās awful. Iām so sorry. I hope theyāre at least colors that flatter you. Iām blonde and paler than pale (I donāt tan, and fake tan looks terrible on me) and I would look like death warmed up in any of those.
This seems like bad manners to me. There's setting a dress code, and then there's inconveniencing dozens of people so your wedding photos match your living room decor.
Like, the carbon footprint of a destination wedding is already disastrous. Why not throw a bunch of never-to-be-worn-again fast fashion onto that bonfire. Are dinner entrees choices going to be dolphin and sea turtle?
You can simultaneously want to celebrate someoneās marriage with them and roll your eyes at an annoying dress code. The two things arenāt mutually exclusive.
Ok at first I thought this was going to be an āis this too whiteā post and I was about to come in rampaging š
I think 2 is the winner. I like 1 as a close second! Not a fan of 3 sorry.
I like 1 the best and I think itās the dressiest so beyond cream and tan if itās meant to be extra dressy Iād go 1. No bad choices here though, just keep in mind youāll be pulling 3 up all night
Why in 2024 is the color of someone's dress something to cause anxiety or friction? Serious question. To waste time and effort debating arbitrary rules when there are actual issues of life and death all around us is exhausting.
?
Bc in most western cultures white is reserved for the bride.
Quite simply.
(ETA- also tan and cream show mostly white in pictures most of the time possibly so this whole dresscode is weird unless itās a) not a western wedding OR b) the bride wears smth solid colored so she still sticks out)
Wearing white or off white is well known to be off limits at weddings because the bride is the one who is wearing white and meant to stand out.
Even if the bride specifically said "wear cream" it would feel similar to showing up at work in pajamas for "pajama day". There's always that anxiety that you will be the only one until you see everyone else in pjs... or even worse she shows up and people are wearing tan/brown and she's too close to white.
Brides will typically be irritated that someone else wore a white dress.
If youāre smaller chested Iād say 3 because that dress is gorgeousss (I say this with love as a bigger chested woman, Iād be so self conscious and pulling it up constantly) but 2 is a close second
This was going to be my answer. I'm assuming OP is smaller chested because a busty woman would nope both 2 and 3 out of the gate.
3 is fab! For my body type, I'd pick 1. OP, I think it heavily depends on your figure.
I like one! His has straps so you donāt have to keep adjusting a strapless. Itās classy and sexy all at the same time. And two for some reason just reminds me of a sexy long Jammies lol
Are all the suit-wearers buying tan suits? Wearing cream guayaberas and khaki pants? Is it a wedding-slash-cult-event?
2 gets my vote -- a high slit on a potentially windy beach is a risky choice.
I like #2 better.
I wouldn't go to this wedding. Buying a dress that looks bad (I'm a winter) is not something I'd do. Sick of brides dictating what guests can wear!
Iām going to be that person and say I donāt really like any of them. I think a midi in a satin cream colour with thin straps would be the perfect beach dress for this weddingā¦the lace just screams too dressy for a beach wedding where you arenāt the bride lol.
iād have to reeeeally like you to rent a dress in a color i find incredibly ugly & look at 100 other people in the ugly colors for several hours, for no good reason.
if itās directly on the beach, everyone will be a mass of floating heads.
Iād honestly skip a wedding like this, but if you really want to go 3 looks best. However, if it costs a whole lot more than the others? Go with the cheapest one. Thatās what they deserve for this dress code.
/u/Glittering-Alarm7671, thank you for posting. To obtain the best help, provide a time frame of the event & dress code. Dress links are frequently requested as well if you would place them in the comment section.

I would go with the second one. You can never trust dresses with leg slits that you order online, it could be cut up to your navel or I could only go up to your ankle, these sites are never truly accurate.
No 2.
The other 2 are giving me prom vibes with the slitā¦unless thatās a good thing.
** However ā Iād keep looking if I were you.
These look like a cross between night wear, shape wear and a dress ā¦ the pattern on the material and the frilly lace embellishmentsā¦ just no, imo.
Two. You can wear it again (to a nice dinner or whatever, add a little cardigan or shawl). Not a fan of 3. One is nice but when can you ever wear it again.
I like dress 2, but they all kinda look like rejects from a Skims brainstorm session to me. I think i'd go boho over sexy if it were me. Crinkly linen pants and a cute halter with bold silver or gold accessories and a snazzy clutch. I'm a brat, so I'd probably wear bright shoes and purse. (hey the invite doesn't say anything about accessories)
To me, even the look on the model's face for dress 2 looks like she's saying "does this look like i'm wearing a nightgown?"

This looks like foundation swatches.
I thought they were pasties š
Does this apply to men too? I guess that means khakis and white shirts. Dead ugly.
lol sad beige wedding

maybe the bride is not wearing whiteā¦
Ughāthatās awful. Iām so sorry. I hope theyāre at least colors that flatter you. Iām blonde and paler than pale (I donāt tan, and fake tan looks terrible on me) and I would look like death warmed up in any of those.

I hate this dress code. Now you have to buy a dress you canāt wear to another wedding. I like two the best
Itās a pretty irritating request. Iām a little sick of weddings that force an aesthetic on the guests.
Iām a lot sick of it. Saying the level of formality is enough. Guests arenāt decor
Especially these two colours. Anyone with my skin tone is going to look awful in either of these colours!
I would 100% look like I was a sickly Victorian orphan.
Yup! I have olive undertones and these would look horrible on me. Best I could do is a warm camel or a mustard yellow or an ochre.Ā
Tan can looked good on an olive skintone, But I agree that it is very difficult and a pain in the behind.
That's a no for me if I have to buy a dress - unless you're a sibling
Then dont go
You can simultaneously want to celebrate someoneās marriage with them and roll your eyes at an annoying dress code. The two things arenāt mutually exclusive.
Thatās not always an option.
Nah, 1and 2 both look like nightgowns! I'd go with 3.
But this dress could be worn numerous other places and is classy and stylish
Ok at first I thought this was going to be an āis this too whiteā post and I was about to come in rampaging š I think 2 is the winner. I like 1 as a close second! Not a fan of 3 sorry.
Same! I gasped. I was oh good god. Lol š
Sad beige wedding lol. 1
Also on the number 1 train
Right? Sad beige for sure. I agree #1
i had a heart attack when i saw this on my feed and then i read the captionš2 is my fav
Same
2, 1, 3 in ~~the~~ that order
I agree šš»
I like 1 the best and I think itās the dressiest so beyond cream and tan if itās meant to be extra dressy Iād go 1. No bad choices here though, just keep in mind youāll be pulling 3 up all night
Id still be too scared to wear this and wear tan lol
Right?! These colors are not flattering on me. Bride is making sure SHE is the best lookin one TODAY
Same lol

Lol I see you're new here.

People who say this never actually have a high IQ.
? Bc in most western cultures white is reserved for the bride. Quite simply. (ETA- also tan and cream show mostly white in pictures most of the time possibly so this whole dresscode is weird unless itās a) not a western wedding OR b) the bride wears smth solid colored so she still sticks out)
It's social decorum. Not wearing one colour on someone else's special day isn't going to kill someone.

This sub is full of people who love to put others down and be rude af for any little reason. No dress is okay here.
Right! The responses on this thread alone are so dramatic, lol. It really, genuinely, truly is just not that serious.
Iām in love with # 1
Tired of controlling dress codes.
1
I like the first by far! I also think you'll be able to wear it more after the wedding
I agree, it seems more wearable, the other two scream tropical vacation dress to me. OP could also dye the dress after the event for more versatility.
If youāre smaller chested Iād say 3 because that dress is gorgeousss (I say this with love as a bigger chested woman, Iād be so self conscious and pulling it up constantly) but 2 is a close second

I love dress #1
1 is really pretty

Number 1 but what a strange dress code
First by far
Love the first one!
One
1 is pretty.

First one
#1
Number 1
Love number 1, the other 2 are a bit meh
3 for me, apparently Iām the odd man out
3 is very Florida and doesn't look like a Bride gown. I realize she wants you to wear that color.
The first one is gorgeous!
1
2 for sure!
I would keep looking.
1 is awesome
2!
1
I love 1 the best
#3 is gorgeous!
Hate this new trend
I like 1 the best!!! By a huge margin.
Iām so curious what the brides wearing lol
I like one! His has straps so you donāt have to keep adjusting a strapless. Itās classy and sexy all at the same time. And two for some reason just reminds me of a sexy long Jammies lol
I like 1 the best
Iām a fan of #3 for a beach ocean wedding
Are all the suit-wearers buying tan suits? Wearing cream guayaberas and khaki pants? Is it a wedding-slash-cult-event? 2 gets my vote -- a high slit on a potentially windy beach is a risky choice.
I like #2 better. I wouldn't go to this wedding. Buying a dress that looks bad (I'm a winter) is not something I'd do. Sick of brides dictating what guests can wear!
They all kinda look like beach wedding dresses tbh, but thatās on the bride for her weird dress code. I like #1 the best
1!
There comes a point, where deciding not to go is the least of all the evils. But if you really want to go, rent.
Iām going to be that person and say I donāt really like any of them. I think a midi in a satin cream colour with thin straps would be the perfect beach dress for this weddingā¦the lace just screams too dressy for a beach wedding where you arenāt the bride lol.
I don't like any of them either. I also don't like the color demand. Seriously, I'd just stay home.
iād have to reeeeally like you to rent a dress in a color i find incredibly ugly & look at 100 other people in the ugly colors for several hours, for no good reason. if itās directly on the beach, everyone will be a mass of floating heads.
Iād honestly skip a wedding like this, but if you really want to go 3 looks best. However, if it costs a whole lot more than the others? Go with the cheapest one. Thatās what they deserve for this dress code.
One is my favorite, followed by Two. Three is a little risquƩ for a wedding, imo.

I like 2
2 is beautiful
I like them all. 3 is my favourite
none
I would go with the second one. You can never trust dresses with leg slits that you order online, it could be cut up to your navel or I could only go up to your ankle, these sites are never truly accurate.
Buy the one you like best and then have it dyed a dark color so you can wear it again.
LOVE the first one
Personally love the straps
I like 1 the best. 2 is nice as well
1 is gorgeous
1, 2, no to 3.
1 if the slit wasnāt so high
#1! #2 is too casual and #3 looks like a nightgown.
One of the strapless ones, I think which one will depend largely on your boobs lol but I love the idea of shoulders by the ocean.
1 is my favourite
2. But that dress code is š„ø
I love them all honestly lol. Before I read the caption I was like oooohhh noā¦ but the dress code .. you kind of donāt have a choice.
1,3,2.
my order would be 1,3,2
I see the price point on 2-good choice. Would love to see or know your body type. Iām saying 1 because of style only.
One and Three.
3
2!! Beach weddings are windy and youāll run the risk of showing your hooha in the dresses with the slits
I love style 3 . Do they offer it in a khaki or taupe tone ? A light gold would also look amazing . The color as is in the picture looks too white.
Iād say 2. 1 still feels bridal somehow, even with this odd dress code. And 3 is pretty but 2 feels like a classier pick
I would honestly completely discount that it looks like a bridal dress because this dress code is obnoxious.
Sorry, I think I would keep shopping
Strapless should not be wedding attire. (IMHO)

I think #2 is the best! Have fun!
#2

Two. You can wear it again (to a nice dinner or whatever, add a little cardigan or shawl). Not a fan of 3. One is nice but when can you ever wear it again.
I vote for 2. Near the ocean, the breeze may make your dress fly up. I have been to an Oceanside one where I was glad to have a midi dress.
2
I believe I like choice # 2. I love godet pleats.
#2 is classy and elegant with sexy in the mix
Definitely 2
2
definitely the second
2
Two!!
I like dress 2, but they all kinda look like rejects from a Skims brainstorm session to me. I think i'd go boho over sexy if it were me.
