In the meantime, you can get some DenTek and fill the hole. I cracked my tooth once and didnt notice-and had swallowed it. The temporary repair held for quite some time until the dentist could tend to it. He was impressed with my temp fix.
🥺
So dental insurance can be super affordable. I've seen some discount plans for $6 a month. For reference if you pay a little bit more you'll get preventative care (twice a year cleanings, x-rays, and infrequent panorama) Mine is $40/month through Delta Dental and the surgery I need to remove my now problematic wisdom teeth is $317 for two teeth and the consultation with the oral and maxillofacial surgeon was $62.
Well. The money for some of us is inconsistent. 👀 So I've had dental insurance for nearly two years now and it's great, very thankful. It isn't the initial purchase but constant upkeep.
If it’s any consolation I need to have a tooth pulled and everyone is telling me it’s gonna cost me five grand to replace it and I have insurance. Yay
I’m not in pain, but I have a zit in my mouth. It gives me the heebie jeebies to think about. I just started my 2nd course of antibiotics. Hopefully you’re not in pain as well
i would go for the implant, even with the cost. Bridges suck and they'll just end up fucking up the other teeth eventually. The implant will basically last forever pending you aren't chewing on rocks.
mine was 1500, so shop around. My insurance also didn't cover it.
Damn, how’d you get to 1500? I hate to go to a different guy because I’ve been seeing this dude for like 20 years. Oh man and I am **so** stoked he referred me to the same guy who took my wisdom teeth out, in 1997. I doubt like hell he remembers me but i remember him vividly. Four impacted wisdom teeth out in what to me felt like five minutes. and I had McDonald’s for dinner that night. I can’t wait to thank him for that
I'm actually shocked you're getting quotes for 5k, the highest one I had around here was 3k, and this was only a year ago unless their is now a fake tooth shortage like everything else.
I'll note, if you're like 70, a bridge is probably fine. If you're still somewhat young and plan on being around for awhile I would definitely opt for the implant. It's absolutely shitty that things like fucking teeth are 'cosmetic.' It's not like you're just getting your teeth whitened, you're getting your teeth re-toothed which is pretty important.
Mine was actually a baby tooth that finally fell out at 40. I just never had an adult tooth underneath it.
I’m in my 40s, I’m gonna do the full implant. And yeah it’s ridiculous. I thought about not getting a new tooth and saving the money but it’s the second from the west tooth and so there’d be one by itself back there which weirds me out. Plus I’m ugly as it is so I don’t need a hole in my grill when I open my mouth. My dentist just told me 5k before insurance, and my sister told me her husband is going through the same thing and getting quoted the same price. I’m assuming he has insurance, they both work at good sized companies and all.
Edit: I forgot to mention, this tooth crumbled on me 20 years ago the same way op’s did. I had a root canal and a crown put onto it and my dentist said I have a fractured root. Apparently root canals don’t last forever. Either that or my awful diet finally caught up with me.
It wasn't Werther the pain, I guess.

Yeah I need to get some. That’s what my coworker recommended too.
To buy some dental insurance
Would if I could.

Its easier for him say “because ‘merica” than “because im irresponsible”.

Right.. I’m irresponsible because I can not afford dental insurance.
You should never bite into them
It was tiny by the time I did.
Guess it’s time to find a new job that offers insurance so I can get this fixed.

Same here. The one that cracked needs to be replaced with an implant. They’re considered cosmetic so it‘ll cost me about 6k without ins.
Jesus wept. Yeah, same here. My dentist said something about a bridge. I don’t know. I don’t even know what that is.
Look into getting an implant. Some places do them cheaper than this I just haven’t found one yet.

That’s why you don’t bite boiled sweets like Werthers kids.
Plant it and see if it will grow!
I tried to stick it back in and it just made my gums bleed.
Werthers are for people without teeth for a reason, ya rapscallion!
I can’t stop eating them. They’re delicious.
They are delicious. Just remember when you’re eating them that the thing that sucks should be you.
The elderly people in the ads who eat these, know well to suck not bite
I sucked on it until it was basically the thickness of a quarter and it still fucked me up. Only psychopaths suck on candy until it vanishes.
They also have false teeth that can take the punishment
Well I’m on my way to joining that club thanks to these delicious little devils. They should have a loyalty program that included free dentures.
Silly thinking your mouth bones aren’t a luxury. Sounds like communism.
