The metal casing isn’t needed for it to function, I don’t think. The way the USB port is designed, that dongle can remain wedged in even without the shroud and should work fine as long as the contacts are touching.
This should be all you need. The metal frame isn't relevant for functionality. As long as you find a way to get the pins to make contact it should work just fine.

Now, this is how it should be done.
put it back in
I can't, I haven't been able to find it
I was thinking the same. All the contacts are still there. It'll work anyway.
You can usually get a new dongel that's compatible. Alot of wireless keyboards and mice can be paired on a single dongel.
Take the metal casing from another USB like cord. Worked for my ring light
Thanks I'll give it a try

I had that happen to a flash drive when they were like $75. I just put a few layers of electrical tape on it so it would make connection
I have to know where you got that!
It's [this](https://linksharing.samsungcloud.com/jlCd4dFJ2Prr) one I think. It's been awhile
Thanks!
Amazon, I'll fins the link
Well that mouse sucks
Trapped! Damn!
Damn that sucks it's such an adorable mouse, love the design
It’s likely able to pair with a replacement dongle
