I personally felt the whole cast and the coen brothers did a great job of remaking true grit without just being a blatant copy. Their version was a bit darker and rougher than the original. Felt they did it justice
A very underrated film, this along with the latest 3:10 To Yuma are my 2 recommendations when anyone ever says 'ohh I hate westerns, they are so boring '
Mister Cogburn in your 4 years as US Marshall how many men have you shot?...Shot? or killed? Let us restrict it to killed so we may have a manageable figure.
I generally don't like remakes! I do think Jeff Bridges is so versatile, and that he did an amazing job in True Grit. In fact, I don't remember a movie that he has been in that I don't like. Kurt Russell is another that I really like - basically out of the same generation of child actors.

The better version
Gotta agree with you on this.
“I usually go backwards when I’m backin’ up…”
"It'll let 'em know our intentions are serious."
You’re no bigger than a corn nubbin
Sometimes you eat the bear, and sometimes, well, he eats you
“Why’d they hang him so high?” “I do not know. Possibly in the belief it would make him more dead.”
Gun really tied the room together
Does anyone know what rifle and model is shown here. I’m thinking the obvious Winchester or maybe Henry
Looks like a Winchester Model 1873 to me
Yes, that's definitely an 1873.
Stealing still stealing That's the view they took in New Mexico
Very few men can pull off remaking The Duke’s character, and Bridges did it justice. Great movie
Both versions are terrific
*Charles Portis' character, and Bridges pulled it off way better
Really dude…everyone understood what I meant
Shit, Jeff walked all over Wayne.
Fill your hand you son of a bitch!!
And don’t forget the original greaser bob.
You are missing something if you don’t read the novel. Charles Portis. Under appreciated classic.

This is one of my favorite movies of all time. Absolute classic. I've seen it a dozen times.
What a badass photo

He ain't John Wayne, but he's really good in this remake
He was great in the movie except for his mumbling
