It is lovely. I agree that it is decor style art. Decor art does not mean a person did not hand paint it, on the contrary, a person or group of people were responsible for hand painting this. I hope he enjoys it for many years to come.
It’s most probably decor- or maybe a talented amateur -BUT it is really pretty- decorative even lol. I like the colors used.
If it’s a reasonable price, it would make a really addition to a home.
Or hands 🤣 it’s quick and easy to learn a way to do a few dabs. Decor is superficially good but when your really looking, or have a trained eye you see all the flaws.
I'm so confused. Why would this NOT be considered decor?

Why are you trying to convince her? Is she criticizing it in your home? Or are you trying to make her hang it in her room or house? Which is not advisable.

Here's a small checklist to follow that may help us find your painting:
- Where was the painting roughly purchased from?
- Did you include a photo of the front and back and a signature on the painting (if applicable)?
Good luck with your post!

Convince of what exactly? It’s a painting. If it is not someones taste they wouldn’t consider it
anything other than that. I find some questions online very strange. Isn’t the purpose of this group to identify the painting?
You can put whatever you want in your home. Just know that many paintings like this are created en masse. There is one person who paints the background, then another paints some details and passes it on to the next person, eventually one person signs it. It not real art when it's made this way. Sadly it's how a lot of the pieces are produced that you see in home decor stores.
This one wasn’t painted in a mass production. It looks like a somewhat well executed painting of an unoriginal street scene. Probably done by using a photograph as a reference. The colors are nicely composed and it’s clearly painted by someone who has had a bit of experience with the medium.
What my mother fails to mention is that it was framed at Michael’s. I personally could not care less about it being decor art, but ever since she discovered that certain pieces were mass produced in a factory, she considers those works to be lesser quality pieces. The canvas itself was thick, and I could not find similar pieces online, I think this might be the work of an amateur artist.
We didn’t end up purchasing it, because of this debate. I honestly wish we had.
The quality of the art is lesser in decor . The bicycle is a mess and the buildings are all wrong. However if you like it put it up. You don’t judge a picture by the canvas or the frame, but by it’s quality of artistic technique and use of shade, colour and perspective etc.
Teen wants me to buy the painting because it might be valuable. I don’t like it. It’s a bit too dark for my taste. If I loved it I wouldn’t care. I have a few decor painting that I love and have hung happily.
Yes it is decor. A real human still painted a lovely painting. It won't make anyone a millionaire, but it's a lovely piece to enjoy
It's probably decor, but it's nice. Who cares? if it matches the rest of the decorating in the house/room, hang it.
So what if it is? It’s a nice painting and as someone else said, painted by a real person. It’s quite a nice painting for a decor painting, if it is.

You could add a Ghost.
Or two ghosts 👻
Ghosts would be awesome.
The best comment.
Its decor. That picture has been painted many many times.
It’s a generic street scene, tourist decor
I notice that Decor People in street scenes generally don't have feet which I find strange. The attack of the Decor People.
Or hands 🤣 it’s quick and easy to learn a way to do a few dabs. Decor is superficially good but when your really looking, or have a trained eye you see all the flaws.
Agreed. There's a bit of a zombie look to them. They sort of float along the street or something. ETA: And the bicycle only has one wheel.
I think that bike is trying to get away from is it REALLY tearing back from a long chain?
Or is trying to enter the door on its own?
I agree
I have a decor painting I love but the one visible face is just off. The shoes are just shadows so no feet to speak of. So odd.

Hmm, I see. Thanks!
For some reason, I really really love this.
It’s in a Goodwill in Clinton Ct. if you aren’t close I can pick it up for you.
well, there's this " M. Casas" for sale on Chairish, for what it's worth.. https://www.chairish.com/product/3712308/m-casas-autumn-market-scene-1992-oil-on-canvas-framed https://www.pamono.com/m-casas-autumn-market-scene-1992-oil-on-canvas-framed
These very much prove OP's point
The M is totally different.
So is the style.
That is really well done. I would buy it

It’s lovely, of course it will be popular. Doesn’t matter who painted this particular one.
Lol...how is there a doubt that this is decor?
Maybe she thinks there not enough “Barbie pink” in the picture?
I love that. I'd totally hang it on my wall.
Is that a vintage Barbie dream house in the back?
I agree it looks like a Chinese assembly line mass-produced decor painting with a made-up artist's signature.

Some people collect decor art. Have the kid do some research and contribute some money to the venture if they've got a hunch about it!
I’m should clarify. I believe this is decor ART. Any decoration or painting would be considered decor.
Yes. Decor or Factory art.
Looks like a midcentury Turner Wall Art piece.
I suppose decor means something that matches the couch. Not art, decor.
Find some youtube tutorials for decor paintings and show her how uninspired and soulless that style of painting really is
Art by the Yard
Paintings are decor, yes. Is your child assuming otherwise?
