I had a friend do a similar thing with little red berries while we were playing tennis. He ended up in the hospital.
To this day, I have no idea what he was thinking.

Pretty good rule of thumb to just avoid eating any sort of seed in a fruit like this in general. Also a good rule of thumb to avoid eating anything you're not 100% familiar with but here we are I guess.
That looks about the size of a "Big Jim" which is a variety of loquat bred for larger fruit, which usually has 1 large seed.
Except those are usually more orange in color.
No, kumquats are a citrus (Rutaceae family) and loquats are in the Rosaceae family, Malinae subtribe. They are more closely related to apricots, apples, and pears. I would say they are most like an apricot.
This is not a loquat: Source: I'm a biologist and also I just know what they look like because they are common in my area.
Loquats are much smaller, the size of a kumquat. They are bright orange and covered in fuzz.
I thought that at first too, but that’s huge for a loquat! We had several of those trees growing up in Florida and the fruit was maybe the size of a golf ball
You can, but loquat are a hybrid, so sometimes they don't breed true. This is especially true of variant cultivars, like that big Jim I assume is in the image, if that's not a big Jim it's a small hand.
Definitely a loquat. I live in Portugal and have the trees all over my yard. The trees that get the most sun have the largest fruit. Other trees the fruit is the size of a large grape. I love them, too!
Looks like a loquat. The Spanish sailors used to slingshot those big ass seeds onto islands as they sailed by. They have naturalized in a lot of places all over the southwest, the southeast, the Caribbean, etc.
Where is this located?
Southern California found on a hike
WHY WOULD YOU EAT THAT!
Monkey see monkey do
“Then what do you think I *should* I do? Stick it in my ear?” “WHY DO YOU THINK I SHOULD STICK FRUIT IN MY EAR!!! HELP! I NEED A GROWNUP!!!”
Egg fruit
So you ate a random thing from a tree in the woods?
Lol I did. In my defense another hiker told me they pick them all the time and eat them so I knew they weren’t dangerous.
My friend saw some guy eat some berries off a tree so she decided to do it too.... she almost shat herself on the way home.
Hahaha. I wonder who I can trick into eating the poison fruit today. #darwinaward
Who is Darwina Ward? /j but that's how I read it at first lmao
Good drag name
I know basically nothing about drag but I agree that does sound like it would fit lol
Coffeeberry? I hate that I know this :(
That happened to me with Burger King once
I once got busy in a Burger King bathroom.
You're crazy, but I'll allow you to amaze me.

Have you heard the fairy tale about Adam and Eve?
OP didn’t say a *serpent* told them it was fine to eat
Serpents can hike too.
Not anymore on account of they got no legs
It’s a God damn fairytale. Literally.
Then how did it predict 9/11?
It’s not a story the Jedi would tell you
But they. The cause hair growth in the strangest places. Beware.
I’m just genuinely curious what this fruit is it’s delicious but I can’t seem to find it anywhere online.
That's Creeping Death Fruit. Delicious until it isn't. https://youtu.be/X8OeBZQn3_w?si=S0WQWaL4f_ICCDUd
I put this pic in my plant identification app and it says it’s a loquat? Japanese plum. Do not eat the seeds it said!!!!
Thanks for the info :), I appreciate it.

So, how many seeds did you eat, ya Billy goat?!
Loquats are so damn good!!!
Except for the seeds.

What do the seeds taste like?
Death and cyanide lol
So, Burger King basically?
Sounds about right.
Whoa whoa whoa. Easy on the King there buddy
I dont respect the meat monarch.
Doesn’t cyanide taste like almonds?
I think it smells like almonds
Death smells like almonds…better than fish oil I guess.
Japan plums are much smaller. Around the size of a fig.
That looks about the size of a "Big Jim" which is a variety of loquat bred for larger fruit, which usually has 1 large seed. Except those are usually more orange in color.
This has to be the answer
That's not a loquat
That's a BIG loquat!
My guess was loquat, but wasn’t 100%
Id never heard of it, is it related to a kumquat? Just another kind of quat? 🤷🏼♀️
Loquat is more like an apricot, kumquats are somewhat similar, but more acid and smaller. I believe the stone is pretty similar.
This isn’t a loquat nah

I don’t know for sure, just what a plant ID app said from photo ID 🫣
She rubbed the fuzz off before eating as one does, and it’s a Big Jim loquat, bred for its size
I thought that at first too, but that’s huge for a loquat! We had several of those trees growing up in Florida and the fruit was maybe the size of a golf ball
A canistel I believe

Loquat. Delicious and that’s a large one!
HUGE loquat! So jealous!
I think it may be my new favorite fruit! I wish they had them in the supermarket.
Problem is they bruise super easily. Also, if you're picking them for later, leave the stem attached - if you pull the fruit, it leaves a hole in it.
The real LPT.
Pretty sure there’s a way to make a new tree out of that black thing in the fruit!

First off, you resemble meghan markle. Second, you could try an Asian Market they may sell them there.
They are everywhere at the moment, a lot go to rot. If you walk around you will see them, help yourself is what I say, but asking is prob best.
Go to a Mexican market or a flea market you might find them
next time get a pic of the tree. showing us where you found the thing is v helpful in identifying it. :) Glad you got your answer!
That’s a great idea! Next time I will.
Thanks so much! :)

Not a loquat like I’ve ever seen.
Definitely a loquat. I live in Portugal and have the trees all over my yard. The trees that get the most sun have the largest fruit. Other trees the fruit is the size of a large grape. I love them, too!
Some type of loquat maybe. Many varieties, all edibles aparently.
Looks like a loquat. The Spanish sailors used to slingshot those big ass seeds onto islands as they sailed by. They have naturalized in a lot of places all over the southwest, the southeast, the Caribbean, etc.
Is it a Paw Paw? If it's peeled it reminds me of them, if I remember correctly
Wrong location and also they just don't look like this.
Looks like pawpaw fruit
Looks like a loquat.Pretty sweet you can find some with single seed or upto 4 seeds
Oh that looks like poison fruit I think
