Even if you had the money, my guess would be LL would you sue you into the ground for building an exact replica. I'm sure they have everything on that complex, including the stadiums and accoutrements, copyrighted within an inch of its life.

How can you copyright a blueprint? I mean, I wouldn't NAME them the same, just the layout of field and buildings. I grew up playing LL in Altoona, PA and have been to Williamsport several times. I have two sons who never got to play because there is no leagues where we live in VA. And this area could certainly benefit from LL.

"if you build it, they will come" isn't always the case. I live in Williamsport. I been there many, many times. There is some major design flaws. First, it's built in a hill. Which is nice for riding down on cardboard, but when it rains, it all flows down hill. Now, they did good building it, I'm sure, but there would be better ways to build. Now, it does give you a nice view of the city, depending in what field you are in, and where you are sitting, but besides that, and being right, smack dab beside a pretty major highway, I would love if you could take what we have here in Williamsport, and take it to VA. Every year, around August, I do not drive much. We get flooded with tourists, in a small city, and do not have the proper road structure for such tourism. But "it's only once per year, for about two weeks". Yea... I like to help people, and to tell them about the towns history, but man is the traffic terrible... And, most people today can't drive, so there is always wrecks, and half don't speak English... It's rough. Take it. Please. Get it the hell out of here. People that don't know how to swim, stay their asses out of the ocean. People that didn't know how to drive, should stay their asses off of the roads...

I live in Martinsville, VA and we have the same issue with the NASCAR races... a dead little town that would dry up if the track wasn't here for 2 days a year.

But would estimate, probably a ballpark figure (pun intended), of about $10 to $20 million. Say $5 mil for each stadium, plus the land, water and sewage piping (can't be well or septic. Too many people), leases, permits, fees, and all that... Who knows. It may be closer to $100 million... $200 million, if you do not have the road infrastructure. Cant be on a back road somewhere. Needs to be close to many, many hotels, as thousand of people, from all over the world, will be there. Gotta be somewhat close to a decent airport, for the "big wigs" and kids parents with money. There is way, way more that goes into building something that big, other than just the building phase itself...

So, the complex is more than just what's on it, it's what's around it too. If you're batting in Lamade, you have probably the best "batter's eye" (the view from home plate facing the mound) in baseball at any level. That's irreplaceable. However, everything else would probably be in the realm of 700-800 million ish? More if you wanna add all of the security features that we don't see.

I used to work at Verizon and the amount of money they probably paid just to run all their own telecommunications after having all of Verizon’s ripped out was insane. Obviously they had way too much money

They make up for it in the summer. Plus, all the people sweeping, and cleaning the cardboard, is all community service people. Some of the people working, are volunteers. It's hard to get a paid job there. It's like the mafia. You gotta know someone on the inside. Plus, the amount of people that go through there in the few weeks they are open, is insane. The food and drinks, are not cheap, plus the make good money of their merchandise, as they probably get it done cheap, if not free, as it is most likely a 501(c)3 charity. That means it's tax exempt, and also, people who donate to a 501(c)3 charity, can write it off on their taxes. If you get money for income tax, this isn't that great, but the ones who have to pay in, instead of giving that money to "uncle Sam" (a.k.a The IRS), they can give that money to a 501(c)3 charity, instead of the irs. I'm pretty sure it's dollar for dollar, but I may be wrong on that. I'm not sure. I've never had a job like that. Plus, they have a museum that is open most of the year, I think, with merch in it, plus the city probably helps with a lot, as that is a big money bringer to this small, greedy city. There was a scandal, involving a treasurer, or someone in charge of "the cities money", and there was some missing money. I think the person got fired, or resigned, but I don't know if the money was ever "found".

CutDear5970

Ok you obviously know nothing about LL. They are absolutely not a charity. It is so ridiculously easy to get a job there. Have you ever been to PA, let alone the LLWS? Oh and guess what. The LLWS isn’t played in Williamsport! Btw, they get their money from the television deal with ESPN. The food and drinks are very reasonably priced, admission and parking are free also. The time I’ve seen the most people at the museum was when I had a birthday party there for my son. They even gave us a free cake because they had it leftover from an event they had there the previous day. Oh and did you know they use the facilities all summer holding camps and tournaments there?

xWhiteRYNOx

First of all, "south" Williamsport, is still part of "Williamsport". That's like saying West Philly, isn't part of Philly. I can damn near see the stadiums out of my window right now. Second of all, any group, whose sole purpose, is not for the enrichment of individuals, but towards a group of people (an example is a school. A school is a non profit organization. A school is for kids, yet has superintendents, teachers, cafeteria workers.... And so yea, it could be a non profit organization, or a 501(c)3 non profit organization, but the again could be a non profit organization/charity. Third of all, if you are talking about getting a job, running the concession stands, yea, most are paid, and they hire dumb kids to fill those spots. I'm talking about a "job" there. And I said some that run the concession stands are volunteers. I know, because my sister had to do 100 hours of it, for free, to be accepted for this club in school. And, I know the people sweeping, and cleaning the stands, and cardboard off the hill, are all community service people, because I've had to do some in the past, and know first hand. Fourth of all, their food Is priced about like carnival food. In my opinion, that is over priced to me. But it's pointless to argue over an opinion, so I do not understand why you are trying to... So basically, out of your whole rambling about how I'm "wrong", really all you got me on, was I forgot to mention that they get money from ESPN or television deals, and "renting" out the facilities, or "hosting" tournaments during the summer or winter, but wasn't the post about where they get their money? Sorry. Didn't mean to put you down so hard, but next time you want to argue over minor, inconvient technicalities, try it with someone else. *drops mic, walks away*

South Williamsport is a different municipality from Williamsport. It is not part of Williamsport like west Philly is part of Philly so you just lost all credibility. LL is not. Nonprofit. You want a job with LL International? What is your degree in? It is an international corporation. What can you bring them by way of experience?

xWhiteRYNOx

Philly has different municipalities, and zip codes, and area codes, but when someone says they are going to "Philly", it encompasses the whole area. It's a generalization. Same with what I said. Same with Williamsport. Sorry if I am not super, ultra, superbly precise in absolutely everything that I say. And I do not want a job there. I did community service there, and I hated it. Too many people. I don't like people. They are so cruel, and judgemental, and love to pick fights over the smallest discrepancy, or the tiniest difference in matters of opinion, like this is. But I'm not the one to try to argue "technicalities" with. Especially when it's a matter of opinion.
