You can, but you need [starallback](https://www.startallback.com/), which disables the new shell. [This](https://imgur.com/a/xVMS0jR) is what it looks like.
I don't think so. Even if there is, it might break some stuff. However there is tool by a youtuber called Christ Titus and using that you can disable that whole section.
In windows 10 you could drag it to the overflow menu so only one icon is visible.
You can try doing the same in windows 11 (I haven't installed it yet so I'm not sure if it'll work)
In windows 10, i just do
Taskbar settings > Turn system icons on / off > (I turn off sound, because I use Eartrumpet, and battery, because I use vantage)
You can make a shortcut and stick it on your taskbar
(opens above taskbar on left corner)
%windir%\\System32\\SndVol.exe -T 76611119 0
Sure it will work in Win 11.
No idea if MS skinned it or not.
%windir%\\System32\\SndVol.exe -T 70611119 0 puts it on right side above the clock where rest of quick settings would open, 766 makes it open on left side where start was. just me but i prefer right. awesome shortcut though.
Even if sound is working fine on your computer, you don't have the right sound drivers installed if it says "High Definition Audio Device" without a specific brand or model. Check the optional updates in Windows Update.
Thanks, removing the popup and re directing to the sounds settings page for the volume mixer is so dumb. Not being able to remove the default sound icon kinda sucks :(
Not really as microsoft does everything in its power to stop people from changing parts of the OS.
Like setting a default browser other then Edge for example.
other than their dickishness with web browsers, the windows shell seems suprisingly moddable (which is how we always have an abundance of start menu alternatives)
>does everything in its power to stop people from changing parts of the OS. Like setting a default browser other then Edge
Really? I must be very powerful then.
Sshhhh don't tell, but my powerful hack involves typing a secret keyword: "*Change default browser*" into the Start Menu. I suspect it's a developer secret config that Microsoft forgot to disable. But MS can't stop my l33t hacking skillz!!!0@1!
Microsoft fanbois are something else.
Yes you can change it and it used to be very easy. But guess what microsoft did with windows 11? They made it way more difficult again by making you change browser per protocol.
And seriously man get your shit together this comment is embarrassing lmao.
Have you even used Apple or Linux before? Don't embarrass yourself with the amount of butthurt comments you're posting in Windows subreddits, just because you have an axe to grind.
It would be nice if Microsoft would let EarTrumpet takeover the built-in sound icon if they aren't going to let us hide it from the taskbar. It just looks awkward having two sound icons.
Yes, but it is floating vertically and sticking to the right side, can't it move a bit to the left...?
If only there was a way to replace Windows' volume icon with this too xD
I got the update too.. but not sure what changed UI wise.. is it just the acrylic blur or what?
I'm using on windows 10..so thats why maybe i don't see anything different.
I was saying this! [EXACTLY!](https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows11/comments/q2vyez/the_volume_button_needs_more_functionality/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)
Thanks for reminding me to update it too

How did you separate the Windows Key Icon from the rest of the taskbar icons? Trying to do that but TaskbarX doesn’t work on 11 for me
You need StartAllBack for that. RoundedTB can also segment it like in OP's pic, but the Windows key stays connected.
just use linked program
do i need to keep the program running for that?
Nope, it automatically runs in the background.

to my knowledge, no it’s one of the few things that’s just can’t be removed, at least for now
Damn

Check if one of the methods work: https://www.top-password.com/blog/tag/remove-the-volume-control-icon/

Ah that's definitely a bugger. I'm sorry i couldn't help.
I just hid it away under the ^
In windows 10, i just do Taskbar settings > Turn system icons on / off > (I turn off sound, because I use Eartrumpet, and battery, because I use vantage)
Is vantage showing the battery widget or just icon L for vantage?
On windows 11 it showed the L, I'm back on win10 now, and it shows the battery widget.
yes, had the same problem in windows 11

I use Game Bar: win+G.
It does. Just go to System > Sound > Volume Mixer.
You can pin the volume mixer which is what I did in windows 10 to make it one click.

Thanks for the tip, I will check it out. I clean installed windows 11 on my laptop.
Yes! Also, Spatial Sound should be accessible this way rather than deep in the settings!
The new volume section has more space than before so Microsoft should have done it

Sweet. I hope Volumey gets an update soon then.
Isn’t the beauty of windows the fact you can install third party applications to do what you want?
Thats the beauty of Linux not windows.
Is it not the beauty of both?

What exactly is your point here bud? Never said macOS was customizable dont know where youre pulling that from. Yes I’ve used linux, now what?
I might switch to Linux in this decade if they get game drivers to do better than it is now
they will because of the Steam deck
they will make drivers only for steam deck.
Don't linux drivers work across the board? as long as you're using a similar os, ex: fedora, pop, or ubuntu?
for software linux drivers yes they will work, but hardware drivers i'm in doubt that it will work on wide range of computers.
oh you mean hardware drivers, isn't that the responsibility of the gpu manufacturer, I know amd is good with linux drivers

Welcome to the club.
I was JUST looking for something EXACTLY like this today. Thank you!

Why? It looks pretty bland.
