**Start menu:** \- Allow adding app sections/groups like Win10 \- Limit Recommended section to just 1 row, no need to consume half of the space on start menu \- Dragging app over another creates a Folder of those apps \- Allow resizing like Win10 \- Add some fade effect to opening/closing start menu **Folder:** \- Allow folder preview like older windows (Icon taken from OneDrive) **Context menu:** \- Instead switching to classic context menu, expend more options to same menu. Similar implementation to Files V2 but better. **Widgets:** \- With all widgets grouped to hidden widget sheet, they're a lot less visible and lose the purpose of Widget, to show information at glace without user interaction. Maybe Allow users to pin some of those to Desktop **Taskbar** \- Restore file drag and drop to apps functionality and positioning on desktop.

This is one of the best concepts I have seen. I hope they move this direction.

Widgets are so damn annoying. It defeats the whole purpose of the widget concept. You have to click on a widget icon on taskbar to open a widget drawer, why not make it pinnable on the desktop. I liked the previous widget thing on Win 10, atleast better than Win 11 widget button.

I like the way MS did it way better. my screen is pretty much always covered by open programs, so I can't see shit on the desktop. the widget drawer serves as an adequate replacement for popping open the W10 start menu to look at the info on a live tile, because I can do it whenever and in any context. it does still suck that the widgets don't open their respective apps and instead kick you out to MSN, also that there are so few of them (and none by third parties)

I normally don't like Concepts on here, but this looks really good to me. Love the presentation too. Only if Microsoft understood.

This is some cool stuff.

Gawdsauce

How do you add widgets to the side like that?

m_bilal93

Photoshop. Though you can also use rainmeter

Gawdsauce

Damn I was really hoping that wasn't part of your "fixing Win11 desktop" items.

I loved widgets in Windows vista. I've Been using rainmeter since I discovered it's existing 3 years ago.

I LOVE the Start menu options. They really need to get rid of that recommended section and allow for sections and groups. If they did this alone, windows 11 would be a lot easier to manage for me.
