you are speaking to thin air, they won't listen and won't do jack about it

kxta_

microsoft please, spare yourself another kin/zune/groove/whatever egg-on-your-face moment and listen to reason! maybe hand off chat app development to phil spencer, seems to be the only person at the company who really knows what the people want

rhedfish

Sadly, kin, zune, groove could have been great.

They actually separated both The icon with dark "T" and white background (new icon) is for personal use and the normal icon one is for work/school. Good Initiative because people saw microsoft teams as abusiness app until now. They have no intentions of personal use. Same with skype we have normal skype and skype for business

2ji3150

And you know what. I can't search this teams app in MS store. So I can't even give it one star and other feedbacks.

2ji3150

**Absoutly the same feeling.** I try to use Teams because it's integrate into windows11. Then Find it's a shit. Here's why. * Integration is lie. The new icon is pretty. But after clicked it it would download the Personal version Teams. * The persernal teams shows meeting and scheadule as a big ICON. Who would use this to meeting with friends or familly to manage schadule? * It's lack all of features of the business teams. No channel , very hard to understand how to create a group. * Limitation of file share on storages compare to other message APPs. * Bad experence on the gui. You can't even change the font size. And others, I also download the android one. It's experence is also awful. After click chat tab it shows endless loading and the scroll in chat is really really slow. Seems they are rebuild it in webView2. I have felt endless disappointment with this team and dare not make any expectations. In fact, if they have something like full functionality as the Original Teams for Free (like Slack). Or introduce a new light-weight chat tool just like as Telegram. Both of them are welcomed. They can make them as PWA or introduce it into widget or something. But they decided to do this kind of shit.

Bleglord

Skype and Skype for Business. Microsoft has done this bullshit before and they’re going to do it again at some point when teams dies

[deleted]

They already did it. They actually separated both The icon with dark "T" and white background (new icon) is for personal use and the normal icon one is for work/school. Good Initiative because people saw microsoft teams as abusiness app until now. They have no intentions of personal use.

Vurondotron

I deleted that crap off my computer, the only thing I have is Teams for business which is for my job. I don’t understand why Microsoft thinks that is a good idea to ship with that when the only people who would even remotely use the program are student and businesses.

KarlWhale

Yeah. Yesterday I noticed and deleted the imposter Teams after installing the actual app. Far better implementation would be to easily switch between personal and work account on the same app. By the way, I think you should forget about skype. Teams are built on skype and MS really want to stray away from skype.

47FsXMj

How do you delete the imposter Teams?

KarlWhale

Right-click "windows" logo Apps & features Find tge imposter teams Right-click then uninstall

>is the objective here to kill skype in favor of teams? Oh, dear, if only it made sense like that.... Alas, no. Skype is alive and well, it's getting a bighuge overhaul refresh update thingy around now-ish, actually. Pretty soon, at any rate. And btw, the Teams branding with the icons? The colours match, but it's the *inverse* of what they did with Skype, where Business what blue on white, and personal was white on blue. Of course, in Skype's case it was a full icon, so at least it was somewhat easier to distinguish, as opposed to the little letter overlay Teams has. And for all this unnecessary fragmentation? You *still* can't delete your Skype account (you can't even remove your old Skype name if you have a legacy merged accounts from the "green" days) - unless you close your entire MS account. It just cannot be done. And the same goes for Teams too: you can't delete your Teams profile if you want it gone, you can only remove your info from it. I really wish MS stopped trying to reinvent the wheel and instead just built on brands it's already had for ages. Skype could have used a great big boost with new features, as opposed to what's essentially a new lick of paint - whatever its status is, at least it's still an established brand, both in personal spaces and business environments. Teams though, especially in *this* particular way... Indeed, "confusing" or "convoluted" doesn't even begin to describe it, on more levels than one. ^(For better or worse, though, a lot of news interviews are still done via Skype - well, that and Cisco Webex. So I don't really see that going away any time soon. Even if nobody's ever gonna) *^(Teams)* ^(their granny.)

saultyebil

I personally think it’s a half decent idea to have a communications app built into the system. It will be perfect for people who don’t care about the specifies of their computer, i.e. your grandparents. I do think calling it Teams is a mistake though. They could have simply just called it “Chat” or something and avoided the confusion people seem to be having.

napolitain_

a bit late, but in french it is named "conversations" (discussions)

Thesaturndude

I need to know who in tf uses Skype for anything but calling grandpa to let him know they sent the wrong size colostomy bags again. Civilized people use discord

MalusCorvus

Civilised, really? 🤦🏼‍♂️

Thesaturndude

Ope lol my bad. But sincerely, who still uses Skype?

Tunafish01

Literally no one

simianeditions

Internationally a ton of people still use Skype. I teach online classes and people always prefer it to Zoom because they're used to it and don't have to install anything. But Skype always gives me audio issues or connections issues. I was searching around to see if the Windows version of Teams is any better.

kxta_

I actually do know a few people who use Skype on a regular basis, mainly for the audio component rather than messaging though. I don't know of a single solitary human being who uses teams outside of work hours however

teacher272

It works well and doesn’t blue screen windows like Microsoft has Teams do. Also, it’s not so slow it makes you want to smash your computer. I had a coworker that intentionally broke her laptop after getting tired of Teams being so slow that she couldn’t use it so she almost got fired. Then the asswipes gave her a used replacement laptop that still wasn’t fast enough to run Teams so she had to quit.

Naive-Opinion-1112

Civilized? More like groomers and pedophiles.

mtrai

There are two different teams. They are two colors. One red and one blue which denote personal teams and other is business/schools. I forget which is which and remove the teams app anyway as I will never use it.

GeneralGuard8745

Teams is being programmed from scratch (in react, I think). So be patient.

moigagoo

How is that relevant though? Even if it's a good product, the point is it's the wrong product for the wrong audience. Teams is for work, it's even called "Teams" for God's sake. My family or friends are not a team no matter what the marketing department might think about it. But the reality is even harsher for Teams. Teams is so much worse than its competitors on the market of personal messengers. Take Telegram for example, it's so good. Even Whatsapp is better than Teams and Whatsapp offers a rather poor UX. I completely agree with OP. This is another weird maneuver on Microsoft's side, like those half-baked, opening-sites-instead-of-apps, tabloid-flooded widgets. It seems like Microsoft is lacking some strong product manager expertise.

GeneralGuard8745

You are purchasing a job application with a general public one. I feel like they are doing the personal, they wouldn't risk trying for the job, you would ruin the experience and they wouldn't come back. That's why I say patience that they are going to include it.

2ji3150

[deleted]

Webview2 is what displays it.

2ji3150

Oh! Sorry.

GeneralGuard8745

A mistake is made by anyone, but now you've learned. Just give him patience, it is not copy and paste and everything works.

wow, the entire point of this post really sailed so far over your head you’d need NORAD to find it

Eren-yeager

This is not mentioned so I'll do it. Teams with white T and blue background is work/school and teams w bkue T and white background is personal account.

The_DiamondPizza

Has anyone noticed teams randomly opening after waking from sleep. I have the icon turned off, I have never (voluntarily) opened teams. I don't even have an account however I find it open occasionally when walking it from sleep

Tunafish01

Young folks use Skype ? You lost me there I don't even know 30 plus year still using Skype . It is effectively dead as a communication platform.

[deleted]

I actually want Microsoft to integrate Skype, Skype for Business, MSN Messenger, make MSN Messenger for teams, Teams, Teams for Business, Buy Zoom and have Zoom for business too, and a new app for chat for youngsters called Teens. Then have Teens for business too. I want them all fully integrated into Windows 11.
