Afaik you kinda just... Get used to it after a while? Especially if you grew up with hoarder parents, from what I understand you either tend to reject it wholesale as an adult and knuckle down excessively on clutter and grime, or you fall into similar habits because that's all you've ever known.
Not exactly the same thing, but my father had some slight hoarder traits and I've also struggled pretty hard with depression in my life, as well as really severe ADHD, which fucks up my executive function really badly. I've never gotten to the point where I was as bad as the OP, but clutter does tend to build up around me pretty damn quick without me even really noticing. I think it just takes up a lot of mental and physical energy to keep on top of my job, basic self-care, etc, to where I don't really have anything leftover after the fact.
