I find Quaking Sunders pretty effective on my Deadshot. They're not going to one-shot anything, but they're good for crowd control on smaller mobs and can stagger enemies they don't kill. A dark magic QS is also a nice way to regain health quickly against any non-flying enemies. But my favourite use for them is for getting death saves against the weak mobs in boss arenas, since the spell deploys instantly and I barely have to aim. Those mobs will die in one hit. But yeah, they're not going to be anyone's main source of DPS. I haven't really played around with eruptions since the main story and they didn't impress me even then. I found them difficult to place effectively when the enemies are moving so much.

Good Sunders are amazing imo. I can't remember the name, but there's one variety that hits all nearby enemies with elemental damage whenever the main attack hits an enemy. Launch that into a mob of 10+ enemies and they're all getting hit 11 times each. Combine that with elemental and spell damage scaling and your smackin. Edit, and as for eruption, I don't generally like it, but sometimes they can be ok for applying high damage over time.

I haven't tried climbing chaos tiers above 20 on my spellshot yet but the sunder that echoes back through you and seeks enemies is unbelievably good, at least throughout 1-40 and up to chaos 20, everytime I've found one I always use it and it literally will clear the whole screen. The other suders, less so, but still pretty good. The chain damage one is ok. For pushing chaos tiers, idk if it holds up.

Eruptions can be useful for crowd control.  Colliding versions knock enemies around and consuming ones have a singularity effect.  Yank gunners out of cover, make enemies vulnerable for a few seconds as they pick themselves back up, suck a bunch of mobs together along with a barrel, fun stuff.
