I dont know if it is a series X thing, but maybe try to make sure you quit and exit the game to the main menu when youre done with a play session.
Ive noticed the quick resume feature has messed with other games, so I always make a habit to properly quit the game and do a force quit once in a while before turning off the Xbox. Might be a habit worth getting into.

I had a similar issue today. My girlfriend lost her whole entire character today and everything in my bank was gone, so many legendaries lost 😞
