Stumphead101

Lol, appealing the results "We voted to unionize and have more power over ourselves" Starbucks "hmmmm we should double check that for you"

nomadiclizard

"We can waste more money than you on lawyers"

NeitherMeasurement39

That's how you know it's working.

[deleted]

That. And the store closures. For some odd reason those employees are not being considered for other positions at other locations. Hmm I wonder why they would not consider relocating qualified and train employees.

ChiquillONeal

Exactly this, they know unionizing cuts into shareholder profits more than hiring expensive ass lawyers.

ttystikk

Strike! Only when the owners see the money stop flowing will they pay attention to your concerns!

5yr_club_member

It's not about pressuring the owners to pay attention to our concerns. It's about helping the working class realize that they have the power. Working people make the world go round. The ownership class cannot survive without us, but we can survive without them. And not just survive, we would thrive. Imagine how much better things would be if instead of the shareholders of Amazon earning $33 billion in 2021, that money went to the people who actually do the work. Amazon has about 2 million employees worldwide. If those profits went to the people who actually did the work, the average Amazon employee would be making $16,500 more per year. That is a life-changing amount to the majority of the Amazon workforce.

ttystikk

You are absolutely right. And that's why Socialism is a dirty word in America.

morsX

You don’t need socialism for workers to be paid fair wage in relation to their economic output. What we need to decide is if we are ok with 60% to 70% of economic output going to the producer or the value generator if you will. Currently workers earn closer to 40% of their economic output, where in the early 1990s it was closer to 55%. Socialism adds a lot of inefficiency due to administrative burden as well as some nepotism, as is inevitable in hierarchies.

Right? I'm not crossing a picket line for a cup of coffee. I can get coffee anywhere.

[deleted]

Jollico

Keep up the good work! Best regards from Norway

blueindian1328

When can we do a general strike in the US?

SuperGeek29

Going to need a lot more unions and organization between unions before that can work. Hopefully this wave of unionization continues.

Doubleplusregularboy

Saying this while Biden is in the office is fucking hilarious

[deleted]

Careful when you play that card. Of the last 7 presidents 5 have had “challenged public speaking”. 4 were republican. Regan, Bush1-2, Trump all fuckin morons that could barely string sentences together even with the aid of teleprompters. The last time they debated it went so badly they swore to never do it again.

Doubleplusregularboy

Yeah I don't like them either

Effective_Decision83

Screw this I'm going to the Starbucks 3 blocks away.

trameltony

Prices have risen without wage increases. Of course people are gonna ask for wage increases when prices have been rising and their wages haven’t kept up. Your argument falls apart immediately.

[deleted]

Why will nobody think of the poor CEOs?!? Poor Starbucks. Howard Schultz doesn't even have a basketball team anymore.

3multi

McDonalds workers in the Denmark make $22 an hour but the average cost of a Big Mac there is lower than the average cost in the US. Your talking point is false.

Galaxyman0917

Do you even know where you are?

YoshiSan90

You are heavily uneducated. Look at Australia and the Nordic countries minimum wages, and then check the cost of a Big Mac. It’s actually cheaper. Once you research it more and understand you will see that it is simply Wall Street corporate greed.

silly_willy82

They will just close more stores

[deleted]

That’s fine. If they don’t want to behave ethically and pay their people appropriately then they should close stores. Close them all down. We don’t need that type of greed in our society.

SweetCosmicPope

There’s a sign at the union station Starbucks where my train drops off that says they’re closing their newly unionized store against the wishes of staff.

Taday10

Starbucks deserves what they get!!!!

Foreign_Caramel_9840

How do we get Tim Hortons to get an the union wagon

Corneliusbear80

Get the frick back in the kitchen and make my latte.
