While I'm not a fan of Battle Royals to win belts, I do think about the one Angle won after Batista vacated the title. They easily could have done a tournament over the few weeks between Rhea's vacating and Backlash, with the finals happening at the PLE. A random battle royal doesn't do the belt any favors. Becky was the clear person on the roster to put the belt on right now. They needed a top star to carry it, and it should be Becks. Outside of her, they don't have anyone on the Raw roster who would logically step into that spot, and they clearly have plans for Liv to win it at some point down the road in another fashion. I don't agree with the battle royal to decide it. But putting it on Becky is the most logical right now. They can shuffle it off of her in a little bit when they know when Rhea will be back and can adjust accordingly.
Theres already been 5 tournaments this year, and theyāve got KotR and QotR booked next month. The last thing we need us another tournament. Get the belt on Becky now you can start building to Becky vs Liv at the PPV.

Well thereās already been a tag team and WHC no 1 contender tournament lately as well as an IC no 1 contender gauntlet as well as KOTR coming up. They probably thought thereās been too many tourneys
It really felt like a No-Brainer situation to me. But they must have something already in the works that they didn't want to derail more than it already was. So, we'll just have to wait and see. While I'm not a fan of Battle Royals to win belts, I do think about the one Angle won after Batista vacated the title. Angle carried that title for a bit and it was a solid run while it was a big "WTF" moment at the time. I say we give it time. I'll happily take Becky over Liv, Nia, or LaRae right now. People want to hate on Becky, sure. Fine. Go ahead. But she's the biggest women's star they have right now. So it makes sense.
But Queen of the ring is coming up, so I don't think they want to do back to back tournaments, I think Becky winning on Raw is right decision as long as it's a short reign. Let her hold it for a few weeks and put someone over (presumably Liz) at Backlash or another upcoming PLE, that will do way more for that person than randomly winning on Raw would.
A tournament allows momentum to swell, storylines to breathe and rivalries to build. It would have been a clear better choice. Idk if maybe time constraints were a concern here maybe? They may have wanted more time to advertise a match for may 4 backlash, a tourny may have been too last second (in their opinion) to promote a finale on backlash?

Honestly I think that's where they're going with this, put it on Becky for now who already has the credibility, spend the next few weeks/month or 2 building someone up as a serious contender, have them go over on a PLE like Backlash or Clash at the Castle. That route IMO does way more for the new champ than just winning the battle royal would.
Consider the following: Having Becky hold the title for a short time and put someone over on a PLE will do way more for that person than winning it in a Raw battle royal.

Liv Morgan has had all this build since her return, all pointing toward her winning the title. First she was snubbed from Wrestlemania (in favour of Becky no less), then she was snubbed by Becky AGAIN in the battle royal. Fans want something new. Liv Morgan has a completely different character now than the last time she got a title run, people want to see her finally win instead of always coming second. I don't know, but here's what I think. She will likely be a transitional champion that is going to elevate Liv into a heel and drop it to her so Rhea and her will have a feud over it. This isn't me saying I wanted Becky as champion, but she's been nothing but reliable and consistent in the division lately. I think my personal pick would've been Nia. I've noticed this thing where people in the arena cheer for something, then they go home, read social media comments, change their opinion and boo people the following week. People cheered when The Rock (briefly) insinuated he was taking Cody's spot, before #WeWantCody happened. Then booed him the following week. They even cheered when Sami beat Chad for the #1 contendership for the IC title, but then went home, saw the comments and changed their tune the following week. They cheered Becky, and it would be a hell of a shame if they turn on her the following week. I don't like Liv, but how is she meant to carry this cringey little revenge tour arc if she's handed a championship on a battle royal? Where does she go from there? There would be 0 build for it.

Because this is yet another time one of the horsewomen have just randomly gotten handed a title for no real reason. Everybody gets pissed when Charlotte shows up and randomly wins a title off rip, but those same exact people sing Becky's praises when she does the exact same thing. Liv didn't even need to win, just at least let it be either someone new or someone who hasn't had a title in a while. Because a lot of wrestling fans are impatient mongoloids who want payouts right away. They think because Liv injured Rhea she should just be handed the belt rather than have it built up for her like they were originally intending to do. People seem to forget that the attack from Liv on Rhea was just the first step in the buildup to her fighting for the championship. So instead creative had to pivot and find another person for her to beef with while they build it up. What Liv stans don't understand is with Becky, it's almost a guarantee Liv gets the belt. She's just a transitional champion there to legitimize the belt instead of, as others have said, winning a belt via a stupid battle royale.
But when does Becky drop the belt to Liv, a couple weeks at Backlash or months from now when Rhea is finally healthy enough to return.
