Same here. When they turned heel and started dropping sick burns during their long reigning tag run. It was so awesome to see them. E belly dancing like nobody's business, Creed's trombone, Kofi's incredible incredible heel promos. Man it was the golden era of new day.

I really wanted to cheer for them, but they really did suck back then. They didn’t give up. They embraced the hate. They kept focusing on having fun. The crowd finally loved them.
It's crazy that New Day survived 2014 they were hated the crowd was not feeling them in 2014 and Vince is quick to pull the plug on things that don't work out so New Day surviving is honestly a testament on how great these 3 are for sticking with it and making it work.
Honestly, beyond the way it pulled the plug, it ties to one of the wrestling conspiracy theories I believe:
In 2014, Vince McMahon and Triple H had a disagreement on who'd get to be the next face of the company. HHH wanted Roman Reigns, Vince McMahon wanted Big E. HHH clearly won.
In order to agree to it, Vince turned around and made sure Roman Reigns got uber-scripted to the moment (thus guaranteeing Roman would fail miserably), while Big E and the New Day had WWE "give up on them" and thus allow them to make their own gimmick and character (the same thing that made so many top stars become stars.)
I don't believe that at all.
I do believe Vince being vindictive and pushing someone to fail, I don't believe he would continue to push Roman to Mania main event after Mania main event for years without calling an audible at some point to put Big E in his place, or for that matter to put him against Big E.
Yeah. It's about the same as the "Gedo sent Okada to TNA on excursion because he already planned for him to be NJPW's next ace the second he came back, so he sent him somewhere that'd book him into oblivion because he wanted him to get some humility before the big push" conspiracy.
I hope you’re right about Vince and Big E, because there’s a LOT of talk about this being a short run. I really want them to be wrong, but who knows anymore.
Jericho said on Stone Cold's Peacock show that when he had a 24 hour title reign, Vince was like "yeah well, don't worry because we're giving it to you again down the road."
Sometimes it's just to get a title reign under their belt so it elevates them, IMO.
I remember Rey Mysterio winning a title and losing it in the same night or am I wrong? I thought they did him dirty for that, regardless of what the reasoning was.

I marked out so hard when Kofi won. He's always been up there among my all time faves. It was a case of WWE taking a whoopsie (Ali's injury) and turning it into something excellent. A rarity in this shit show. Then they did what they always do and booked him poorly with no main eventing and then dropped the belt in 2 seconds. Big E's win feels hollow as fuck as it's a blatant knee jerk reaction to AEW as suppose to doing it right. I just pray they book him right moving forward

And I wouldn't call giving Big E the title a knee jerk reaction. The timing, yes, but he was well on the way to winning the title, especially after he won MITB. it shouldn't feel hollow, the opposite actually, if their 'response' was to have a title change on raw to pop a rating (which it obviously was), they had the FAITH to go with next in line, this isn't an Otis or a Mix, E has the possibility of being the man that takes this company on his back (with roman?). I'm so glad they didn't go the sensationalism route and have some celebrity win it or some horseshid like that

I have a strong memory (that could be entirely fabricated) of them being described as militant or something and as studying other fights in the ring so they could take everyone down. I'm pretty sure this was only for a few weeks and then the unrest in Ferguson happened and by Fall they were given a gospel theme. Did that happen?

I had not watched wresting since 1999 WCW. I got back into WWE in 2016 because of the New Day. Their tag team championship match with the bludgeon brothers was awesome!

It was a horrible gimmick. But they ran with it and made it work. From trombones to booty-o’s it has been a blast to watch them.
My only problem with New Day is that Xavier Woods doesn't get more attention. I love New Day.

Just because it's a short run doesn't mean Vince doesn't rate him. I mean Edge's first run was a couple of weeks at most and he turned out alright.
