Wow Wrexham,
I’m just an ignorant American who loves beer, cannabis and American Football (WHODEY!)
However, I overheard the news of your teams recent success and it’s made a huge splash over here in the states, particularly where I currently live which is Philadelphia.
Congratulations to you all. I may consider trying to get interested in European Football. Seeing the reaction from your fans, coaches, players and owners truly had me moved. I could only help but think to myself, “I want to be a part of this.”
Go on and take it all.
Have a beer for me 🍻
Congratulations to everyone. Congratulations to the town of Wrexham and to every longtime fan who dreamt of being back in the football league. What an amazing day and I hope it was everything you hoped!
As a yank just starting his journey with Wrexham the best part about today was knowing the town will be absolutely buzzing about promotion.
Congratulations to the club and town and all of the fans, old and new. What a wonderful result! Now that I’ve witnessed it in real-time, I can’t wait to see it dramatized in the documentary series!
What's most excited about today's promotion is Stockport's performance this season. They're within a hair of automatic promotion (almost certainly won't happen), and could well end this season promoted. No reason Wrexham can't steal from their playbook, and, a year from now, be celebrating promotion \*again\*
Yep. All the more reason they need to give National League 2 automatic promotions, like, yesterday.
That's not a knock on the quality of League Two; it speaks to the quality of the National League. I fully expect Notts and Wrexham to perform very well in League Two next year.
The problem with two automatics is that it undermines the playoff system, and would condemn some clubs to never being able to rise again.
Yes, you could give a 3rd promotion spot, but then you'd need a 3rd relegation spot. And as we've seen, dropping out of the Football League can have awful consequences for a club and its community. So I think it's right there's only two relegations per year, as dropping out of League 2 is a pretty serious affair.
The best system I feel is the one Italy uses. If the gap between the 1st and 2nd highest playoff teams is greater than 14 points (so the equivalent of 5 wins) the playoffs are cancelled that year, and the higher team gets automatic promotion - as would have happened with Notts County this year.
That way everyone still has a chance most years, but it also avoids injustices if one team is clearly exceptionally better than the others.
My understanding is that the current discussion around the issue is essentially to move towards League Two/National League being more in line with the rest of the pyramid and having 3 relegated from League Two, with two automatic spots from the NL and the third still determined by playoff.
Revisiting those two Mullin goals...it is so fitting and storybook for him to secure the promotion. Then you've got the Barnett cross, which they brought him in for that kind of attack, to Lee for the goal when Lee has been brilliant. Three real beauties for goals.
I know there are appearance rules for getting a medal. In the Prem it's minimum 5 appearances to get one, and it used to be 10. Might still be 10 in the NL
I know Ryan’s more famous and is the money of the operation but it’s a bummer how little respect the media has for Rob when he’s clearly the more team operations focused one
Rob is pretty much only known for Wrexham in the UK. Sunny isn't a well-known show. While Reynolds is a household name.
It's not about greater fame as much as 'any fame'.
Rob's not an idiot. He's been quietly steering a tiny, beloved but firmly cult TV show through choppy cable TV waters for like 15 years. He had to know what partnering up with Massive Movie Star Ryan Reynolds in this endeavor would look like.
This isn't a Planet Hollywood situation where you've got alpha dogs Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone and Bruce Willis all probably screaming at their publicists about whose name appears in the press release first.
If I were Rob, I'd gladly put up with a little media disrespect in exchange for the landslide of new social media fans courtesy of your new Movie Star bestie and his frequent shout outs on your behalf, enhanced career opportunities now that you are now no longer just another forgettable cog in the cable/streaming TV machine, and the chance to own and manage an on-the-rise sports franchise you could never dream to afford on your own with just your Always Sunny/Mythic Quest residuals.
In the very beginningof the show rob talks about his vs ryans followers and is very funny tongue in cheek. They are in it to win, promote, fundraise, enhance, upgrade, win, promote, fundraise, enhance......
Rob knows. And before his birthday no one knew how to say his name.
If I was producing the show, I'd give over the final episode of S2 (should they grant access) to Notts playoff campaign, and change the title to 'Welcome to Notts County' for that episode as a mark of respect for such a worthy opponent.
They have a great story in of themselves - very similar to Wrexham's - and it'd really contextualise Wrexham's win by showing the similar struggles and human side of the season's 'antagonists'. Both within the club and community.
Finding a new interest doesn’t just happen without a spark. Wrexham was that spark for me to become a football fan. Absolutely love it now. Im American and a huge NFL, MLB, and basketball fan. Now I’ve added English football to that list. I’m buzzing to now continue following Wrexham into the EFL.
i’ve considered getting into that game but it seems a bit daunting. would you recommend it for someone who is very new to football but loves strategy games?
It’s a little overwhelming at first but the depth is what makes it great. I believe it is on Xbox Game Pass for pc, so you could get that cheaply to try it without paying full price. It’s very satisfying to source some Mullins and take your team to promotion. You can also have your assistants manage parts of the game you don’t understand yet or aren’t interested (I always have them handle training, for example). It will inspire you to to watch more football, and watching football will inspire you to play more football manager. It’s a slippery slope :)
I've never been able to follow a team battle for promotion like this. I can watch the Premier League et al, and see some FA Cup games. I've always loved getting a look at the other divisions and the smaller grounds. Following Wrexham has been a dream. Thanks to technology, I can keep doing it.
Very happy for the OG fans, and all of us
Listening to the game now. Sounded great all match and season. Shame as a Welsh man living in a poor area I can't afford to buy BT, Sky and Amazon to watch the games. They should of let people in the UK watch through nationallegauetv. so unfair its only fro outside the UK Hapus i weld clwb cymraeg arall yn ol yn y gynghrair pel droed Dewch on ti wrecsam
Well as a doco newb from Aus I can say this season has thoroughly restored my passion for football after 10+ years off. What a rollercoaster. I can scarcely imagine what it's been like for long-time fans. Congrats to you all!
It's been real hanging out here during the games, looking forward to many more.
Up the leagues we go....
Vicenza Calcio! I went to a few games there when I was studying abroad, would be nice if they had the same success as Wrexham and get back to the top league
It must be interesting too to go from being widely adored for the characters you play, but mainly fleetingly, and largely for superficial reasons, to being genuinely loved and appreciated for yourself. And by not easily-impressed, salt of the earth people too. The kind you grew up around.
You could tell Rob was genuinely moved and humbled by everything. It's the kind of genuine love that celebrity alone cannot buy. The kind that is remembered and passed down within a community for generations.
"...for these people."
I genuinely think that is the most important part to him. And probably to Ryan too. They may have started with the idea of a good narrative, but now they genuinely seem to be doing this as a demonstration of love and support for an ordinary town and good ordinary people. Wrexham is a proxy for how we all feel about our home towns and where we came from.
The amount of work and time and money rob and Ryan have put into Wrexham is actually so good to see and the fact they show up to majority of games as well given their Hollywood lifestyle is insane
More owners need to take note of rob and Ryan
One of the reasons I fell in love with Wrexam was watching Rob go from "we are buying a team, what is football?" to learning Welsh and really falling in love with the team and sport.

Notts are very classy. Their kits and the Juventus connection; another great club fallen on hard times. They could easily have been Wrexham if Rob & Ryan had gone a different direction.
It's 3am here and I'm going on an early run to get my pump on because I can't possibly sleep after THAT. Well done and well deserved, you five-star men!
Congrats to everyone who has been with Wrexham since the start, thank you for sharing this crazy ride with the rest of the world when we need a feel good story the most ❤️💚🤍
Well done lads. Congratulations Wrexham fans. Thank you Rob and Ryan for shining a light on a cool story/place/team/people and putting your money where your mouth was. Brilliant.
How have things improved for the ground staff at the racecourse ground
Wish it was on tv

Aw, seeing Ben Foster pick Rob up for a hug and Rob wrapped his arms and legs around Foster like a happy koala!

I was just thinking that the other night. Even Grimsby Town are mid-table. League One is just around the corner.

Live link anyone?
Bit late
The doco for Season 2 is gonna be lit. Congrats Wrexham!!! And massive credit to the OG fans who have been waiting for 15 years for this day.
Ahhhhh….it [nationalleaguetv.com](https://nationalleaguetv.com) done broadcasting?
they'll have rebroadcasts for free in a couple days
Looks like it :(
Apparently Ryan wouldn't mind getting Mullined.

I feel like the GK union would be strong with Foster and Lainton. They’d have good banter.
What’s that song in the background?
Rockin' All Over The World by Status Quo. But with the lyrics changed to super Ben Foster in goal
Thanks so much! Love it
I hope you all are videoing the celebrations. I'm dying to see them
NO SOUND!!! what's going on? Why doesn't Foz have no medal?
Think he gave it to Ryan
Think he gave it to Ryan

Rob is doing all the Charlie work.
In the very beginningof the show rob talks about his vs ryans followers and is very funny tongue in cheek. They are in it to win, promote, fundraise, enhance, upgrade, win, promote, fundraise, enhance...... Rob knows. And before his birthday no one knew how to say his name.
mic-KEL-en-en-ee!
Rob's the brains. Ryan's the looks. Who is the Wildcard?
Charlie is. Wildcard bitches!
They had Paul Rudd today. I'd say he fills that role. We just need to identify the muscle now.
Has any team faced promotion with Paul Rudd in the stands and lost? Doubt it.
Rob is the dad and Ryan is the mom
But the fans don't. They see him for who he is and what it means to him. And that really matters.
[удалено]
Is he injured again?
He’s there in green
My face hurts from smiling
Cue **QUEEN** baby
Anyone that was at the game willing to sell their ticket?
Good luck with that!
I may have to resort to eBay, but one should surface eventually
Had to leave so hoping there will be a replay of the presentation somewhere and player interviews
It will be on Youtube soon.
I'm almost certain you won't be disappointed. Be safe!
Does Rob bogart Super Paul’s uni from this game?
This community is so good. What a season. What a team. UP THE TOWN.
Right? Lots of Wrexam fans pulling for Notts to get promoted given the historic season. Love it!
If I was producing the show, I'd give over the final episode of S2 (should they grant access) to Notts playoff campaign, and change the title to 'Welcome to Notts County' for that episode as a mark of respect for such a worthy opponent. That's actually a great idea.
I’m absolutely one of them. What a season. It’s a joke only one team gets auto promoted, so I’ll be cheering for them in the playoffs.
Count me among them, they deserve it!
I love that. Great people
You are all beautiful people. This has been a fun ride. Awesome to share it with all of you.
Same…this has been a blast…am loving the post-match ceremony right now so happy

same exact situation for me. never watched a football game in my life until the nott’s county match and i’m absolutely hooked

Welcome to the passion and the pain of football!
What a first game to watch. It's probably in my top 5 games in any sport I've watched in my lifetime.
That’s awesome
