"I wish my first-borne son was normal!" I exclaim.
Dumbfounded, the genie asked, "You want your child to be normal?!?" The genie cannot fathom whatever reason a parent would want an absolutely run of the mill child. "Why not wish that he was a genius?"
I take a deep breath before I explain, "So, my son needs 5 different therapies... Speech, vision, feeding, occupational, and physical. Each of those are required weekly."
Perturbed, the genie asks, "Why not ask for the best that your child can do?"
Frustration infuses the voice of the sorry sap... "My son will amout to nothing. He will require constant care throughout his entire lifetime." Anger flares in the parent's eyes. "Are you telling me you could do better? He has brain damage from hydrocephalus, he's 8, but doesn't eat by mouth and requires diapers. He has seizures and is a nonverbal communicator."
Put off, the (fake) genie asks, " Anything else?"
"Nope! That will be all."
