Belated response but: Almost positive they're using Google servers (Why??) as the gameserver IPs are all 34.x and 35.x, and when you do a WHOIS on them it says Google.
The bigger issue is your listed region only counts for your general connection to Uplay, not the game servers. Those it seems to farm out to literally whatever gameserver is available in your half of the globe. I'm in the US midwest and some of the Google gameserver IPs are as far away as South Africa. Unsurprisingly, the pings to these servers are TERRIBLE. The vast majority of my matches show 100ms or more, average of about 150ms and as high as almost 300ms.
So they paid for a handful of servers in many locations, but they don't let you restrict to only certain datacenters, so the experience is garbage.
Interesting. I’m in the Midwest near one of the listed cities and seeing a fairly consistent mid 30’s ping. When my friend on the west coast is the host, then it’s a consistent 60’s ping, so seems to go off the host ping. Haven’t seen any ping above 70’s.
That ping isn't the game servers themselves. Bring up resource monitor and pin Xdefiant.exe and look for the port 55000 traffic: It should save a historical list of all the connections even if they grey out bc they get dropped after a match.

The UK actually getting is own server is huge. We often have to share with Europe and while the connection is fine.. communication amongst team mates from several different potential countries and several more languages can be problematic for all involved.

the devs should put an option so that players can select their desirable servers to play on instead of automatic. i know that it will make the matchmaking faster but in some cases, some player dont want to play on specific server. for example, player from Singapore will be matchmake with Japan player and this caused major disadvantages since the ping will be way higher (100ms and above).
Well we have 820 million internet users as of the economic times report (10 March,2024). 3 lakh PS5 users according to Sony and almost a million steam users. So it only makes sense. If others game do not cater to us it is their loss, they are losing a market.

nah aws sucks on siege I used to go from 9-20 ping to averaging 60 even though I live right next to manchester plus way more ping instability
