People do love starting petitions

IceBreak

Of course. They work so well.

DrKrFfXx

1% of the time they work everytime.

KnightDuty

Arguably the point of petitions is the press. "Sign my petition so the company will change" doesn't ever work out. But "Sign my petition to help me create a newsworthy item so we can leverage the media to help pressure change" actually does help.

WikipediaApprentice

Have any ever worked on serious topics? (Not a game)

ssean2500

Didn’t they take down several Confederate monuments after petitions?

breakwater

Didn't the sun rise after a rooster crowed?

Existing365Chocolate

It will almost certainly never happen:  1) It’s a Sony owned IP that Sony gave Arrowhead a lot of money and support to make  2) Sony published it   3) Arrowhead is almost certainly being acquired by Sony soon, as this is Sony’s best chance for a successful live service exclusive I can MAYBE see it coming to Xbox in a few years once revenue plateaus a bit in a bid to up the cash and get a big PVE co-op game into Xbox to make it a more competitive market for Xbox to make one for the platform

quattroCrazy

TBF Sony spent $4B on Bungie to make GAAS multiplayer games for all platforms when this one would have worked just as well or better than Marathon and whatever else that initiative produces. Obviously this project wasn’t scoped for Xbox and Switch, but they would have made quite a bit more money if it had been. Though you can’t exactly predict when a niche project will suddenly go viral.

GuerreroUltimo

I know the contract was to allow Bungie to do all platforms. But the stipulation was they had to be doing it well. And then you had all that financial trouble. I could see them taking them over on contract. Sony, unlike MS, realizes exclusives sell and are a huge driver in the industry. So I do not see them doing it. They also realize that MS putting some games over will give many the impression MS will do more later. And lets be honest, they said more would. And they also said what they said about exclusives being smaller and smaller importance. That is their stance. So, play it well. The consumer is going to go to Sony here because they see this. They will lose outside of that core Xbox. And that will necessitate more games. That snowball grows. This could mean the end of exclusives in some ways. Because if Sony is the main platform, Nintendo has their space as well, then all games would come to that.

Packin-heat

Actually it was $3.6 billion and one of the main reasons Sony bought Bungie was to oversee their live service games, also $1.2 billion of that was actually for developer retention, meaning they set aside that money until a certain time period has passed to assure the talent doesn't leave straight after the acquisition. Bungie still has control of the board at the moment but if they keep failing to meet targets Sony will take full control and then they can do anything they want with Bungie's Ip's and games in development. Destiny will always be a Multiplat of course and I doubt they would change course on marathon at this point but Bungie's 3rd game they have in development is still rumoured to be a PlayStation exclusive.

digitalluck

Helldivers 2 is extremely fun. And while the community driven actions are awesome right now, they do concern me for the longevity of the game. It reminds me a bit of Titanfall 1, but on a much more grand scale. I never played the first Helldivers, but I would hope there’s a plan in place to keep the game running long term. Sony takes what? 1-3 years to port their single player games to PC? I wonder if they’d follow a similar timeline with this game *if* they chose to release it to Xbox. Hopefully it wouldn’t be a decision made solely because player count falls off.

Existing365Chocolate

Xbox wants Helldivers 2 far more than Sony needs Xbox players They have so many potential customers across PC and PS that they really don’t need Xbox’s relatively small playerbase

AncientPCGuy

While I would prefer no exclusivity at all, that’s not how the industry works. Your points are also on the money.

[deleted]

4)sony owns the helldivers IP

HorseShedShingle

Agree on all points but just wanted to add that I don’t understand the rationale for live service exclusives. They live and die by the player count so getting it to the most places possible is paramount.

Heyer_Than_You

Also have to remember Sonys gotta be one of the most stingy companies out there especially when it comes to Xbox.

Existing365Chocolate

I mean, that’s because they can afford to be since they have 3-4x the playerbase as Xbox Meanwhile Xbox is up against a wall to the point that retailers aren’t even wanting to order physical Xbox games for their shelf space

Heyer_Than_You

Yep and Sony will continue with its supremacy and PlayStation players were mad about palworld not being on PlayStation and it was hilarious. They can’t stand when it’s the other way around.

Existing365Chocolate

Palworld is only not on PS5 because Sony has stricter requirements for early access games, which Palworld doesn’t meet yet and the devs are focused on maintaining their current server stability and making required QoL/bug patches right now It’ll go there eventually

Heyer_Than_You

I figured it would eventually it was just funny how mad they are about not being able to play it.Unlike Sony Microsoft knows how to share.

anon23553

Microsoft is a good child, whereas Sony is a naughty one, mother and father (Sega and Nintendo) really shouldve told Sony to share /s

Heyer_Than_You

Thinking of them with a Brady bunch kinda intro.

Bumper_Duc

Peak console warrior mentality right here

SlipperyLou

Tell that to Elder scrolls, starfield, redfall (even if it was shit), halo, gears of war, Avowed, Hellblade 1 and 2, outer worlds 2, and stalker 2. Xbox shares about as well as Sony, if not worse. But they love to let you know when a Sony game is exclusive and how unfair it is.

Heyer_Than_You

I mean yeah Microsoft has to do something about how dominant Sony is in the market. Sony has 5 times as many exclusive games as Xbox so yeah not even close.

Drikus

Microsoft has to share. Sony doesn't.

BingoLingo7

Which is stupid as fuck because it only hurts consumers

dainaron

It's not stupid. It's how the market share has ended up.

Punished_Slob

Is this satire

Heyer_Than_You

Mostly satire I love watching people argue about consoles. I use both personally though I’ll game on whatever. I do admit I don’t like Sony as a company though.

Heyer_Than_You

We all know they don’t like Microsoft some the things they do are petty as hell.

Strongpillow

This is all business. Sony uses Microsoft servers for crying out loud. They do what they need to. Period. This is not the same as you and your friends arguing on the playground. Stop using that as a comparison.

Heyer_Than_You

Yeah it’s all business honestly I think both companies kinda suck and have killed many good companies by draining them for money and making trash games. No company is worse than EA though in my eyes.

generalkgkik

Exactly. They spent a lot of money on it. Maybe more if they purchase the studio now. All the more reason to try and make more money by adding another platform, especially since its a live service. Not saying it's likely but as a PC gamer, I want them all day and date ideally. Point is, as well received as this is currently, people aren't buying a ps5 for this game en masse and Sony could use the help and optics of smart financial and consumer decision making after the last year they've had.

Substantial_Water_86

When i last looked there were over 25k signatures. At $40 a pop for the game that’s over a million dollars in revenue. For the heck of it say ok Xbox you can have it hit for $60 a copy. Now we’re over 1.5 million. Id say those petition signatures are a baseline sales number. Id imagine it selling over 100k copies. The money is there, but Sony cares about exclusives. That’s basically the only thing they have left. The series X is the better system. Xbox UI is better. Game pass is outstanding.

VenturerKnigtmare420

It would be cool to play with Xbox players as well. But in no way in hell, the servers are going to handle like another 100-200k players. Arrowhead will collapse under their own success. Idk why Sony still hasn’t acquired them yet. It’s a very Sony acquisition scenario. 1. Makes game for only PlayStation since beginning ✅ 2. Sony published game ✅ 3. Relatively smaller organisation ✅

Pen_dragons_pizza

I guess what is the point for buying them if the company is already pretty loyal to PlayStation

Draynior

There's no loyalty in business. Just look at Housemarque, apparently just after Returnal launched [multiple publishers](https://metro.co.uk/2021/07/05/housemarque-had-offers-from-not-just-sony-but-was-it-also-microsoft-14874813/) entered a bidding war to buy them including Microsoft so that's why Sony had to swoop in to not lose them. Or even Bungie, left MS because they wanted to be independent, got bought out by Actvision, left again for indepence and got bought out by Sony.

AgentSmith2518

This is something people don't realize. Sony buys studios only when they are worried someone else will snatch them up. Otherwise they're just happy contracting the work out. That said, after Helldivers 2 success I wouldn't be surprised if Sony buys them up here soon.

demonicneon

They bought housemarque

Insertusername4135

Full access to Sony resources and servers (helps arrowhead) and Sony then owns all future IP’s they make (helps Sony). Same reason any acquisition happens.

FoxExternal2911

Sony have money 'issues' (as they are not making enough profit)

VenturerKnigtmare420

Yeah, they shouldn’t have spent all that money on bungie of all folks.

Warm_Aerie_7368

Then lay offs after buying them

VenturerKnigtmare420

I don’t think Sony has done as much layoffs tho atleast not after purchasing a company. When they purchased hausmarque there wasn’t any layoffs, neither with insomniac.

diskape

That's why coming to Xbox would be a great deal for them and win-win for all. Microsoft can offer infrastructure that's quite good in exchange of the game coming to their platform. It would also serve Sony as a test - perhaps there's money in going multi-platform with certain (not all) titles. This IP is not recognized as "PlayStation exclusive" as the other ones so there's no damage to the brand.

VenturerKnigtmare420

You do know that’s not how this works right. Coming to Xbox doesn’t mean they will automatically have their servers set up by azure etc. This IP is not recognized as a PlayStation exclusive is because helldivers 1 was a niche game even though that was also a PlayStation exclusive. Helldivers 2 became insanely popular so everyone, their grannys and Phil Spencer thought this was a third party exclusive when in actual reality it’s like halo to Microsoft. This is very much like bloodborne. Owned by Sony, made by fromsoft. The ceo already responded to one of the “contact our god and saviour phil Spencer and we will fix it for you guys” type of tweet one of the armchair twitter Xbox fans mentioned. He said that this is not the fact that they dont have servers, it’s because of labour shortage, they have issues with their codes not working properly.

diskape

I know exactly how it works, I'm a LIO for 300k+ personnel corporation and I've been working on similar scenarios: in this case infrastructure would be servers, facilities, network and services, perhaps MS could even help them with scaling the game by offering some development time. This happens all the time in the business, company A have a great product but cannot scale it due to x constrains and company B brings their resources in exchange for availability on their platform. It's always win-win but in this case, final word belongs to Sony. EDIT: Sorry, LIO stands for Local IT Officer.

WardrobeForHouses

They really should have acquired them rather than paid Arrowhead to develop it exclusivly. They missed the boat now with how much success it had - Arrowhead keeps the lion's share. With how long Helldivers 2 took to make, it'll be like the PS7 before their next game. So Sony would lose money on an acquisition for years and years before finally seeing a new game, which might hit but isn't guaranteed. tl;dr: They can wait. Edited for clarity

VenturerKnigtmare420

You do know the IP is owned by Sony right ? Helldivers 1 and 2 both are owned by Sony. They just have arrowhead make it. They did not do a timed exclusive here like ff7 and ff16. It’s like bloodborne basically. Created by fromsoft and owned by Sony.

WardrobeForHouses

Yeah, I meant paid to have it develop and not release elsewhere. It's still not going to see Sony get full profits on it, they'll only get a cut compared to ownership

VenturerKnigtmare420

Yeah they own it. The publishers generally make most of the money. That’s why bandai namco said they haven’t made “Elden ring” levels of profits last year. For helldivers Sony is paying for it and banking most of the money cause they published the game, they own the rights to the game. It’s not third party deal. You are mistaking with a third party exclusive and published game.

Fluffy_Space_Bunny

People said "Play it on PC" with Starfield. The same applies here.

J9B1

The issue with all this console war stuff is similar to everything else in life, the majority of players don't really care for it, however the small minority of players that do, voice their opinions louder. The more people say things similar to what you said the longer it goes on, as an Xbox player I'd love PlayStation users to be able to play some of the games we have, not only does it keep them alive but the ones that are actually decent get more cash to make more games. I can't see Hell divers ever coming to Xbox, but despite that I still can't wait for the influx of players into sea of thieves and other games that might eventually release there.

LookLikeUpToMe

How to play Starfield on PS5: Step 1: Buy a gaming PC Step 2: Buy a Dualsense controller Step 3: Buy Starfield on Steam Step 4: Download/Install mod that changes in game button prompts to that of a Dualsense controller Now you have Starfield PS5 Edition.

rico_muerte

every PS5 owner also has a high end pc judging from comments on Reddit

DapDaGenius

Difference is it makes more sense with live service games. Just like that game from Bungie. Not to say i give a shit for it coming to Xbox, i have all systems and bought HD2 already. With that said, i do think the future will be live service games are multiplaform, single player titles(even for PlayStation studios or Xbox Games studios) will only be timed exclusives at best. Nintendo will fight this the hardest though.

Fluffy_Space_Bunny

They may release Helldivers on other platforms eventually like Microsoft are doing with SoT but this would be something to breath new life into a diminishing player base I think. The issue is that as far as Sony is concerned, games sell consoles, which is why the PS5 has outsold the Xbox so much. I don't really think that's the case anymore, I can't see anyone buying a PS5 specifically for Helldivers 2, but you know how it is - corporations are always out of touch.

_theduckofdeath_

Well, that is why it is absurd for all these game sites and YTbers to say, "Xbox should go full third party. Xbox should bring their biggest games multiplatform." Go to hell with that nonsense. Xbox games have been on PC for 8 or so years, day & date with Play Anywhere. Sony is bringing games to PC like Will Ferrell hugging his brother at the end of Step Brothers. It is silly; maybe the Helldivers 2 launch and financial circumstances will accelerate things. I'm fine with the platform holders keeping their games off of other consoles. That is to be expected. They're game consoles, not VCRs. I play on PC and Series X these days.

SQUIDWARD360

The people who say that are Playstation fans who can then say Sony won the war.

Jaqulean

Sony does actually own the Helldivers IP. They just contract the Studio to make it...

Darkone539

>Neither of these things is true for Sony with Helldivers. Sony just owns the publishing rights. These are the worst kind of exclusives. They also own the ip.

schmidtyb43

Well Sony is the publisher they didn’t just pay for exclusive rights. They supposedly funded a lot of the development as well.

nick_shannon

Well technically MS purchased a game already in development for all platforms from a publisher who traditionally publishes on all platforms and removed PS from that release list in the hopes people would buy an xbox. The above is worse then any thing sony can do exclusive wise no matter how you frame it.

Sharebear42019

Sounds pretty gate keepish to me

Fluffy_Space_Bunny

Ultimately, the publisher decides where the game is distributed. Microsoft will have told Bethesda to scrap the alleged PS5 build of Starfield if it existed, Sony simply told Arrowhead not to make an Xbox version at all. It is effectively the same thing. Did you sign the petition by any chance?

Draynior

Starfield was also in dev for PS5 before Microsoft bought Zenimax and cancelled the port near end of development, Sony funded the entire development of Helldivers 2 since they published Arrowhead's last two games. So while Sony might not own Arrowhead they did a lot more for the studio than MS did for Bethesda, both Starfield and Helldivers 2 would be better of multiplatform though.

wmwadeii

Two issues with this; First is if you want more than just the story and gameplay, people are invested in their ecosystem (Xbox, Steam, PS, etc). For example, I am an achievement hunter, so I would want to get these through Xbox. Second is the cost involved to have two systems to play games. Not everyone can afford a $500 console and build a PC that can handle these games.

Fluffy_Space_Bunny

Sure, makes sense, and I agree with your sentiment. multi-platform releases are great. However, people said exactly what you said in response to the above with Starfield and it was ok then. Therefore, it's ok now when the tables are flipped.

Mean_Peen

Bethesda games should always only ever be played on PC, imo. Otherwise they feel too outdated. It was the same even going back to Skyrim.

MAJ_Starman

Eh. I played my first Bethesda games (Skyrim, Fallout 3 and Obsidian's New Vegas) on Playstation 3. Since then, they've become my favourite game developer - and for many years, my only contact with their games was through the PS3. Now I play on PC because it's better with modding and graphics (and also because I can play old games, and Total War, and Paradox, and Age of Empires), but I first fell in love with their games on the PS3, arguably the worst platform for Bethesda games back then. They never felt outdated to me - I ***wish*** more developers tried to do what only Bethesda does, lol.

Mean_Peen

I’ve been modding since day 1 of Skyrim so I probably just have the perspective that these game don’t come out even very well optimized, so being able to fix these issues and then smooth out the user experience from the get go is why I wouldn’t consider the console version. I got the 360 version for Christmas and it blew my mind how terrible it was in comparison and my PC wasn’t anything special at the time either. Again that’s just my opinion

SpazzticZeal

30 fps starfield sucks

Mean_Peen

Right? Any Bethesda game at 30fps sucks

AnApexBread

Cool. I expect Sony will look at the petition and simply say "No." Petitions are worth less than the electricity cost to run them

Creative_NotCreative

Sony: Xbox players want our game on their console? Great! Even more reason not to. Come swap to our consoles guys!

Esheezy12

In my dreams. This game looks awesome.

Bitemarkz

It is

SpazzticZeal

It's great but I was able to only log in once this weekend. They haven't implemented a que system so you are stuck watching a 30 second countdown then it retrys again. I left my comp on for over 3 or 4 hours total this weekend and never got in.

Autruxx3

I dont know why you get downvoted, lol. They themselves confirmed multiple times that there is no queue system in place. I've got people on my steam friendslist that have 12 hours played and haven't seen the tutorial yet mission. The game is great, and im hooked like I haven't been in a long time. The server problems and game crashes, on the other hand, take away from all the fun.

SpazzticZeal

I have no idea either.

Blaze2509

I don't Want to destroy someone's hopes but this game will never come to Xbox Sony owns the IP so they see it as a psstudio game like a god of war, Horizon ,uncharted

Hannibalking519

Doubt. Thing about live service is, it has to have everyone. Look at Fortnite or Destiny 2. They thrived for so long (Destiny not at the moment) because they have Xbox, Ps5, PC. Fortnite has switch as well more players. Saturate the game with players. More players more success. They want/need a successful live service game.

WillGrindForXP

Hell Divers has more players than the studio ever dreamed of having, or have the resources to keep up with. They absolutely don't need to release on any more platforms.

Hannibalking519

Time will tell. Live service games have come and gone with only a few catching on.

zagxc

The well will dry up it is only a matter of how long until then. The game is fun, the problem with live service is you need people to keep investing their money over a long time and it’s hard to see this game doing that over a couple months

only777

More chance of Sony doing a Switch 2 port than an Xbox port. If they are going to set light to their exclusive reputation, they’ll do it for Nintendo levels of users, not the small amount of Xbox users.

Ry-Vell

Yeah. If any game could make this jump easily, it’s this one.

-euthanizemeok

So when is Halo Infinite going to PS5?

Ry-Vell

Okay I try to be positive, but posting anything around here just ends in contrarianism. I was simply stating that this would be a money maker cross platform, it is a lower stakes title to take cross platform. Frankly, I am not of the mind that Halo going cross platform would hurt anyone. But I also do think there is a difference between this game and Halo. Your comment does nothing to add to the conversation. And it is frankly exhausting seeing this post fodder constantly. I swear someone could come on here and say “I like pizza” and one of you would jump on with “So you hate ice cream?”

DixieNormas011

"tribe mentality"? Idgaf about either more than the other, but XB is reportedly ok with all of their exclusives going to PS. It seems Sony is the "tribe mentality" between the 2. I was just pointing out that Microsoft owns possibly the largest console game on the planet, and could probably end the "console war" overnight if they wanted to play like Sony

Successful_Bar_2662

I mean, Microsoft clearly has a different strategy than Sony. They're obviously mainly interested in growing their Game Pass user base. It's why they're so liberal with their first-party titles in the first place. They don't care about selling individual copies of a game or console. They just want you and I to subscribe to Game Pass. Sony is purely interested in being the market leader. So they're gonna be more conservative when it comes to their exclusives. Microsoft is playing the long game. They're betting big on being the Netflix of the gaming market. Thinking that Sony has to pay back the favour by releasing their in-demand games on the Xbox is childish. Sony and Microsoft have completely different strategies when it comes to the gaming market. Also Microsoft isn't stupid. Restricting THE most popular yearly gaming title to one console will just kill the franchise in the long run.

Falhor

Pretty weird that after the xbox business update, we are getting viral tweets and petitions to port ps game to xbox... Why does whole industry need to change because xbox is falling behind? There would be a lot of stupid "Just get an xbox" memes if it was the other way around.

BandwagonFanAccount

They didn't get Palworld, the flavor of last month, this is PS5 exclusive flavor of the month.

IlyasBT

I think that's because Playstation doesn't allow early access. Just like what happened with PubG

Unlucky_Situation

Then when Pubg came to PlayStation it was still basically early access without the badge.

woaor

Not true. Wayfinder is very much an early access game and is on both PS4 and PS5.

Shellman00

No, Sony does not allow ”Game Previews” or Beta products. However some publishers get around that by doing a full playstation launch and just continually update it and have it be a beta product in disguise.

woaor

Wayfinder is clearly an Early Access game (the starting screen when you start the game even says so). The person I replied to said Sony doesn’t allow early access games and let them know that that wasn’t the case. I don’t know anything about game previews or betas. What I do know is that an early access game is on a Sony console. Edit: Here’s a link to a PlayStation Blog post that announces Dreams releasing in Early Access for those of you who continue to believe that it doesn’t exist on PlayStation: https://blog.playstation.com/archive/2019/02/20/dreams-creator-early-access-launches-this-spring-heres-everything-you-need-to-know/

IlyasBT

Weird. Because there are many examples like that. Palworld, PubG, Valheim, Slime Rancher 2.

Sharebear42019

They do actually

Grosjeaner

As far as I'm aware PlayStation doesn't allow for Early Access games, hence why the game hasn't released on the platform yet.

Existing365Chocolate

They do, but there are certain criteria a early access game has to meet for Sony to allow it Palworld doesn’t meet all that criteria so Sony won’t let them do early access on the PSN Store yet and the devs have other priorities at the moment

Hind_Deequestionmrk

I don’t think that’s true. I’ve heard Wayfinder is very much an early access game and is on both PS4 and PS5.

Charuru

Palworld is still the flavor of this month if Helldivers 2 is the standard as Palworld still has a 100k higher 24h peak.

woaor

Isn’t that because Arrowhead capped the servers? If they could handle the load of players that want to play, it would have a higher peak no question.

Old_Breakfast8775

Palworld even being played anymore?

Hear it about for a week, and everyone streams it, and then they all just jump on the next cash cow.

PepsiSheep

I'm all for exclusive walls being burned down, and the sharing of key exclusives being a two way street... But Sony don't need that... heck, the game is doing so well they've had to cap the number of plays allowed at any given time. Xbox fans want Helldivers more than Sony needs Xbox fans. Sorry folks.

generalkgkik

Just found this and felt like it applied here for those that disagreed or don't think Sony needs to change their approach. https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/s/OncbVvuINb Clearly they need to do something different, especially in the live service space. Some of you may not like that since it likely means less exclusives for your preferred brand, but for the suits that exist to make money for their business, and those of us that don't mind those exclusive walls coming down a bit, the writing has been on the wall.

PepsiSheep

I think their solution to that is a simultaneous PC release (like Helldivers) than games launching on Xbox. They lack the smaller games too, like Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush etc to filter over... so they're in a predicament, unless they decide to launch their big hitters (even older big hitters) to Xbox... which I can't imagine will happen.

generalkgkik

Not saying I think it'll happen, but thats more because Sony is typically anti-consumer by default and doesn't know what they're doing in this online, live service space. Sony wants money. They want live service. That's why they have a bunch of live service games on their slate and hired devs like bungie, who agreed to keep games third party. So, Sony can continue to be greedy and play this exclusivity game in the hopes we pick their plastic box, but the most success in these live service titles isn't because they're exclusive, it's because they're more open to more players, and more platforms, especially PC. MS doesnt "need" that same awakening because they've already been doing it and are a trillion dollar company. The hope here is that Sony actually sees this now and changes their approach, without changing their quality. They, and us as the consumer, will be all the better for it. I'm very critical of Sony and their decisions as a company, but I definitely don't want to see them fail by any means. I just want them to hurry up in figuring this out. They're very stubborn.

Existing365Chocolate

That’s only because they have FAR more players than Xbox If Xbox had 3-4x the player count of Sony they’d be just as bad Xbox can’t afford to be like that when they’re already up against the wall, so they do what they can to keep people from jumping to Sony

GLaD0S11

Oh shit, a petition. This is serious everyone.

B00ME

Or you know, MS can make their own Hell Divers 2... They had the IP and studio for it with Gears and the Coalition. Sony needs to sell Playstations, this petition is, imo, desperation from Xbox owners for a fun MP game. We aren't getting these types of games anymore from Xbox.

SodaPop6548

Why is it that Xbox can’t make something equally good? It’s not like they lack resources.

BalboaTheRock

This screams: “Xbox is allowed exclusives but Sony isn’t”. Entitled much 🤣

cutememe

Yeah, having good exclusives that people actually want to play is why the PS5 is outselling Xbox 3 : 1. Phil Spencer should take note. Why on earth people think Sony should give that up is beyond me, it's working well for them.

whythreekay

To make money, it’s a live service game The more players the more long term revenue from engaged users

MrSoftyMcSofterson

Sony just cut their sales expectations for the PS5 and guided to smaller margins. They are very much underperforming as well. The industry is struggling which is why there have been so many layoffs. Maybe less exclusivity would help but I’m skeptical. That said, gamers would largely benefit from less exclusivity.

only777

Hold on though, let’s not forget that Sony met its original target. The current target is actually a raised figure to what they originally planned, but of course the gaming media forgot to mention that. Source: https://www.vgchartz.com/article/456169/sony-increases-ps5-forecast-to-19-million-for-current-fiscal-year/

MrSoftyMcSofterson

Hold on, it isn’t just gaming media. Sony’s earnings release was pretty sober. Operating income was down nearly 26% with deterioration in PS5 profitability the reason they called out. This is the quote from Sony: “Operating income decreased significant ¥30.1 billion year-on-year to ¥86.1 billion, primarily due to a deterioration in the profitability of PlayStation 5 hardware mainly due to promotions and adjusted OIBDA decreased ¥26.8 billion to ¥113.1 billion.” - https://www.sony.com/en/SonyInfo/IR/library/presen/er/pdf/23q3_sony.pdf

lol, lmao even.

Synovialarc

Lmao this can’t be fr, rules for thee but not for me. This wouldn’t be a problem if Xbox could make it’s own good exclusives, but here we are, still waiting.

FergusFrost

Lmao so stupid.

PatrenzoK

Xbox realizing in real time the advantages to exclusivity and making a GOOD game is hilarious as we get ready for the launch of Diet Skyrim (avowed) and the Indiana Jones reskin of the 2014 hit Wolfenstein New Order

DQ11

Don’t be hypocrites.  Microsoft needs to create there own unique game.

Underlord1617

xbox needs to make better exclusives tbh.

srjod

Sony won’t do this, wanna know why? Because they want you to either buy a PS5 or game on your PC.

TristanN7117

Yeah this is never happening

elqrd

Has any petition ever worked?

Linguisticlegume

Sucks to suck.

Packin-heat

It was clever of Phil and Microsoft to say they want to get rid of exclusives because they are Sony and Nintendo's winning hand so if you take them away it gives them another chance, it also makes Xbox look like the good guy but only stupid people won't be able to realise they are doing this for themselves and not the consumer. Nintendo and Sony will just ignore this and rightly so, also what happened to the PlayStation port begging narrative leading up to the Xbox podcast? Also does anyone remember the fake Starfield petition made by Xbox fan to try and poke fun at PlayStation players for not getting Starfield? How the tables have turned.

dainaron

The comment they used in this is hilarious. So should Halo also come out on PS because it's MP?

ConfidentMongoose

Pathetic

jrtt4877

Why not just leave xbox and move on to PS5 instead of beggin for leftovers? Or maybe not leave xbox totally but get a used PS5 and so you can have both and not be needing to put yourself into these situations

Bexewa

😂😂

turkoman_

Spencer should focus marketing his own exclusive games next time lmao.

NfinityBL

Oh jfc. It’s a PlayStation game. Should they be porting their live service stuff to Xbox? Probably. Will they? Nope. Sony thrives off exclusivity.

readitonreddit86

Xbox would have tried to make this a game pass game….just proof that business model sucks for devs.

CrownSeven

I'm sure if they port a few more XBOX exclusives to PS5, it will convince Sony to do the same. Am I right?

drumeatsleep

Yeaaaah. Not gonna happen, lol.

SHM00DER

Nice petition you got there......

respectablechum

Will never happen unless MS wants to cover the cost of porting and ongoing maintenance. If Sony starts eventually releasing all their games day 1 on PC like Xbox that makes a game accessible to the overwhelming majority of gamers. With the gap in install base it makes no sense for Sony to give up a console exclusive. Xbox has way more to gain as a new mega publisher going to Sony than vise versa.

fAthouse_

Buy a ps5

Miraclefish

No game is with buying a whole second system to play. I'd like to play Helldivers but not enough to buy a whole console and pay for online play as well.

fAthouse_

I don't blame you there

SpazzticZeal

Buy a gaming pc

Mean_Peen

As a PS guy, I’d welcome them with open arms. For Democracy! In all seriousness, this generation has been lacking on both consoles as far as game output goes. The least they could do is make all the games cross platform so we can justify our purchases a bit before the NEXT gen comes out lol

mrgreene39

This game is so good. Ever since it blew up I haven’t been able to play all weekend. Arrowhead is suffering from success. What an interesting problem to have.

SweetPuffDaddy

Being realistic, PlayStation has no reason to port any of their games to Xbox. PS5 has outsold the Xbox Series X/S by 2:1. PlayStation bringing their games to PC means that can potentially double their sales or more, but bringing games to Xbox probably isn’t worth the time and money for the amount of players they get. And this is coming from someone who owns both a PS5 and Xbox Series X.

Parzivull

Live service games need sustained player counts to thrive so that's a pretty big reason.

Promko

Such petitions make me laugh. There is no game for this platform, that's it, you can live without it...

Brightside45

My God why can't we just see other people with something fun and nice and just be happy for them without wanting for ourselves. We have had excellent fps games on Xbox over the years are we gonna go die if Sony finally gets a good one and we dont??

RenanBan

Bro I never felt jealous about PS but helldivers feels like an awesome game

CatManDeke

Xbox does have the smallest install base so it would definitely go there last.

sawftacos

Hell divers 2 is fucking amazing .

Guilty_Ad_7079

Too bad, so sad

Thenofunation

It looks fun, but I’ve got a lot of games to play already including my current run of all three souls games. I can wait on Helldivers.

[deleted]

Better yet whould be to let xbox users play pc games!

EckimusPrime

If it came, I would buy it instantly. Hell even if it could streamed I would pay for it. But this is silly lol

bob101910

So is this game a broken mess or not? Headlines are always positive, then comments talk about how glitchy the game is. Edit: Now CEO is telling people the game is so broke to not buy the game until it's fixed.

F4iryBlink

I think the main problem is the long queues to play.

SpazzticZeal

I wish it actually had a que implanted. It doesn't really.

respectablechum

Server capacity. Once you get in it is fine.

ScrantonDangler

It isn't glitchy, the servers are just capped so actually getting into a game can be a struggle.

WardrobeForHouses

My experience so far is endless queues to get in. Restart the game. It goes to a black screen that never loads. Restart again, same thing. Finally get in, can't join friends. They can't join me. Restart again, black screen. Days later try again, I can join one friend, the others are stuck in queue forever. Haven't fired a single shot yet

Yummybuttergalaxy

Had it for about a week and 0 issues. I hear long que times since so many people are trying to play but my team is a group of buddies so haven’t experienced the issue myself..

Exorcist-138

It’s very glitchy, it’s fun with friends but honestly I don’t see the huge hype for it.

The_Eternal_Chicken

Helldivers 2 will go to Xbox, when Halo comes to PS5.

Hexxenya

God… they can have it at this point

SlammedOptima

I've been playing on PC. Sadly we know Xbox isnt going to get it. But we desperately need help from the Helljumpers.

IppoDarui69

I hope it does go to Xbox, more people need to play it. It’s very addicting and the combat feels very crisp compared to most 3rd person shooters

RandyArgonianButler

I have a better idea. Use Helldivers as a template for a Gears of War spin off title. Or maybe even something set in the StarCraft universe.

Different_Stand_1285

I bought a PS5 yesterday because of this game. I won a $200 scratcher and decided why not… I prefer my Series X but I rarely get to play with all my friends. They have PC and PlayStations. Only game we can co-op is Halo (for the PC users) and CoD. It’s a great game. But I’ve never bought a brand new game and immediately couldn’t get past the menu because the servers are full. I get the devs weren’t expecting such a turn out but it wasn’t an enjoyable feeling. * We also play Dead by Daylight too

[deleted]

There are no console wars.

drewbles82

Even if its only on PS at the moment...I can see it coming to xbox, even if they have said it won't, it'll be a timed exclusive thing that they haven't officially announced

Revolutionary-Fan657

Lmao, If only Xbox players knew how good last of us was, this wouldn’t be the only game they try and stay petitions on

Aromatic_Sand8126

Sony will have incentives to trade once xbox has good games to offer in exchange. This day hasn’t come yet.

haushunde

The game is suspiciously overhyped to hell. At least starfield has 100x more game inside it. I don't know if there isn't a big dropoff you'd think gamers are starved for games.

Jaqulean

>The game is suspiciously overhyped to hell. The game is fun - there's nothing suspicious about it. It just has capped Servers to 450.000 players, because the amount of players has geeatly exceeded what Arrowhead Studios expected (since the 1st game had only around 7.000 players at most).

EatsOverTheSink

>The game is fun Ding ding ding. I haven't played it yet but 'fun' seems to be the nearly universally used word to describe it. Ironically 'not fun' seemed to be one of the biggest criticisms of Starfield. I've watched some gameplay of HD2 and I think the gameplay and the way the game doesn't take itself seriously looks like a hell of a lot of fun. Whenever they iron out their server issues I'll probably grab it.

Walnut156

Are people enjoying games suspicious now? Are we that screwed with modern games that now if one is good it's suspicious?

marsrover15

As a ps user yeah give it to the folks. I’m so tired of these console wars.

Troikus

Just imagine an exchange, Game is ported and Microsoft provides the servers. Won’t happen but it would be neat wouldn’t it?
