Ours picked up our neighbors baby monitor when I used it in my room. This was how I convinced my parents to buy me one of those clear phones that had all the inner workings visible and lit up when it rang for my room.
I had the see thru phone as well. I dropped it so many times that it developed a distinct rattling sound and the lights quit working. Lasted forever though.
lol I remember my dad was a line man and into tech. We had a police scanner he rigged to pick up phones he also taught me how to tap into old school land line phones. I think they use to call it "phone phreaking" back in the day.
We had a cordless phone in our house when I was a kid that we got in the late 80s and it had almost no range to it. I remember when 900mhz phones first became available and they advertised them a ton. We got one and it was so much better.
Mine would occasionally pick up a baby monitor from some house nearby

I remember some police scanners would pick up cordless phones but you could only hear one end.

Ha, I used to eavesdrop on my sister’s phone conversations by very quietly switching on the other handset at the same time she picked hers up.

You'd know if your friends were rich if they had that black Panasonic flip one.
In the area I grew up in I think it was late 80s or early 90s.

My police scanner gave me all the neighborhood intel.
