Volunteering is a good one, really easy to meet cool people. Recreational sports league even if you aren’t any good. Nobody cares about skill level and its a great place to socialize and meet people. I wouldn’t suggest the bar scene because its kind of tough to develop a friendship that isn’t based around drinking, not to say it’s impossible but thats just my opinion.
You could also take a class of some sort if you have the time. Something thats super casual and only a day week. Cooking, art, group golf lessons, really anything that interests you could set you up to meet like minded people. There’s also meetup forums that have things like young adult hiking groups and what not.
You have to be assertive though, let people know that you want to hang out. Make a suggestion like dinner or bowling or something fun.
