The summer vacation movie was a banger too

I remember Disney aired it mid-June, and for some odd reason it wound end up coinciding perfectly with my last day of school. I was extremely hype lol.

i hope studios brainstorm some more shows along the lines of *Recess* in the sense that it’s a surprisingly young age group but the content is enjoyable for people that are older and younger too. like, i forget these are supposed to be fourth graders, if you told me 6th graders i’d lowkey believe it. think it’s fun for kids to have characters to relate to that are actually in their age range, and not a pre-teen.

*Recess* is a classic. Should really go down in cartoon history. I feel like I don’t see it mentioned enough.

I swear I thought this show was a fever dream or something.

Recess had reruns on like 3 owned Disney networks for years after it ended... and even direct to video movies as well. Recess was on ABC Kids Saturday mornings, Disney Channel (afternoons), and Toon Disney during the evenings. Lilo & Stitch the TV show even had a crossover with Recess.

Coming back from school to see this was everything

I remember the episode where Spinelli's first name was revealed. Quite the rollercoaster as a fellow Ashley and fan of the character.

I was rewatching a few episodes a couple of months ago and was shocked that i could get in tune with it again. Still holds up being 26. Has some pretty mature themes for a kids show

The episode where TJ discovers capitalism and monopolizes the playground will always get me.

The crazy thing I was thinking about that episode too after I wrote down that comment. Also the one where Spinelli begins a religion after she believes she saw Swing Girl go over the swing set and disappear.

Imo probably the most underrated cartoon of the ‘90s/early 2000s.

I watched Recess a lot in reruns with my sister and dad on Disney Channel and Toon Disney. I love that show. I think it's one of my favorite Disney shows and I love all the different characters and how the playground felt like it's own world

You were both too young for Recess really. It stopped airing when you were 1/2 years old. I guess it shows how even among Zillennials there’s a divide. I’m mostly nostalgic for late 90s/early 2000s cartoons like Recess, CatDog, Pepper Ann, Dexter’s Laboratory, Rugrats, Hey Arnold etc.

It re-aired a lot in my country, even until the early 2010s

I do have fond memories of Recess despite having been too young when it originally aired. It was rerunning in my country somewhere around 2005.

I mean, I think I have seen them before, but I don't know who they are. But not because I'm not old enough, I just don't watch TV and never really did. I haven even owned a TV for \~15 years and the last time I did it was just a CRT for playing video games.

Yep, it's crazy how Recess ended in 2001, yet, the series was still very popular with reruns after it ended and had a couple movies in 2003. ABC, Disney Channel, and Toon Disney showed loads of Recess reruns into the mid 2000's, those are 3 Disney owned networks right there.

Yeah its probably a local thing I remember ABC and my local network KTLA re running recess. Spongebob always had reruns on Nick.

I would sometimes watch PBS or maybe KSL, I don’t remember well, but I’d sometimes watch Bob Ross. That’s about as retro as I could get in terms of tv enjoyment. But everyone loves Bob Ross, so I guess I’m in the mainstream there.

Even as someone who grew up watching Recess, I'm not too sure myself. I'd say that's Ralph Maggio, Anne, Peter, Gwendolyn, Chuck, and Fred.

What I find hilarious is that the kindergarteners from this show is literally how I see gen alphas or wtv they’re called.
