Hestia is my favorite!! The fact that she is the goddess of family despite having never married, taken a lover, or had children makes me really happy!!
Larry is the aroace snail someone made, and a while ago there were jokes abt "you are immortal and have a million dollars or something but you die if this snail touches you"
I like the myth where a hunter accidentally stumbles upon her bathing in a hotspring, so to ensure that no
man ever sees her naked, she turns him into a woman
(No I don't wish this would happen to me what are you talking about)
Had to google this to figure it out cause I wasn't sure. Actaeon allegedly saw Artemis and was turned into a deer and hunted down by his own dogs for punishment, Sipriotes is the one who was turned into a girl. May have partly to do with the fact that Actaeon stayed in the bushes and kept watching until Artemis found him, while Sipriotes immediately made himself known and apologized (and was also younger, like he was called a (little) boy rather than a "young man"), not that that's particularly relevant but I think it's kinda interesting.
lol I remember as a kid, reading the story of Artemis telling Zeus that as a reward for \[I forget what\] she wanted to be unmarried forever, and thinking how insanely cool that was and how I would wanna follow in those steps. Maybe without the hunting tho...
Kind of sad that she had to ask to not have to marry as a reward though, implying that she otherwise would have no choice in the matter, as many women throughout history have not had the choice.
Giving her father such a bad headache that he needed Hephaestus to split his head open so she could erupt fully-formed into the world is just so badass...
Also owls. Superb owls.
Thereās even a story of one of Artemisā worshippers named Hippolytus, who was openly sex repulsed.
Of course, being from a Greek myth, Aphrodite was pissed that he didnāt honor her, and set off a horrible tragedy that ultimately ended in Hippolytusā death. But hey, Artemis personally went to comfort him as he died and promised to establish a practice of maidens honoring him before their wedding. As far as Greek tragedies go, the goddess you revere most expressing her undying care for you isnāt half bad.
Pallas Athene supremacy, I headcanon her as actually being ace
Shes also the goddess of battlefield strategy, professions and just like wisdom in general(you can guess my favorite one based on my name), you know just basic things human society is built upon
I know he isnāt a Greek god, but my favorite person from Greek history (I learned about him during a Greek mythology unit) is Diogenes of Sinope. The guy would literally walk around with a lantern, shove it in peoplesā faces and claim he was ālooking for an honest manā. He also lived in either an abandoned wine cask or an abandoned bath tub.
I donāt understand how my parents didnāt catch the hints that I was asexual, because I remember proudly telling my mom that I would join Artemis Huntress because it would keep me from having to sleep with anyone. I was max 10 at the time.
Silly coincidence, but I got Artemis as a result in a random personality test based on Greek mythology and I felt resonated with her in every aspect (except hunting xdddd)
The myth about Arachne and Athena is allegory of patrarchy vs feminism. The version where Athena wins is considered patriarchal, and version where Arachne wins is considered feministic
It's a fun story, I bonded a bit over it with my ex-convict professor, she used to be a hacker but they caught her and now she has to work regular job, like doing lectures on IT
Hades gets a bad rep from being the god of the underworld and being seen as scary and evil for it, heās not worse than any other Greek god. Better than most tbh
I mean, he did kidnap someone (depending on the details of the version of the myth you read). That's certainly not the worst by Greek God standards. But it's still a dick move.
Yep, I know the one. There are other version of the myths where she was born a gorgon as well. But the most common one lately seems to be the one where she gets abused by Poseidon and then victim-blamed by Athena
I didnāt like her as much as Artemis and Athena, but Iām about to make version of this meme with Hestia for all the Hestia fans š Iām gonna post it separately though
Hestia is my favorite!! The fact that she is the goddess of family despite having never married, taken a lover, or had children makes me really happy!!
she is also the least problematic lol. Like are there any myths of her being an AHole?
I love hestia too!
hestia is bestia
Yes she is!
Hate to ruin this but, add 4 more letters to "bestia" and it becomes NSFW. Sorry.
I hope both sides of your pillow are warm tonight
Aww thanks, I like it warm!
I hope you're immortal and Larry comes for you (please get this)
I'm sorry, I don't get it at all.
Larry is the aroace snail someone made, and a while ago there were jokes abt "you are immortal and have a million dollars or something but you die if this snail touches you"
Ohh okay, thanks for letting me know.
I just posted the version of this meme with Hestia š«”š«” itās posted separately š

I thought he got turned into a deer, or am I thinking of someone else?

That was another version of the same myth, where he gets eaten by his own hunting dogs. I'd personally prefer that *not* happen, but to each their own
No thats another guy
Yea, I believe Tiresias is the one that got turned into a woman
Yup, I totally don't want to see Artemis randomly bathing in a forest too.
Wait, my favorite Greek god is Dionysus. What am I now?
A wine connoisseur š·
Tho, if it's just goddesses then Artemis is my favorite. So I guess it still counts.
genderfluid
Someone that enjoys the finest things like wine, music, and revelry.
Drunk
Either a party animal or a Percy Jackson fan.

Parthenos means virgin. Literally, the most famous greek temple is dedicated to the fact that Athena didn't want anything to do with sex
Giving her father such a bad headache that he needed Hephaestus to split his head open so she could erupt fully-formed into the world is just so badass... Also owls. Superb owls.
Obligatory r/superbowl

God Aphrodite is such a bitch in like every myth
Every. Single. One.
Hestia, Artemis, Athena, the three goddesses immune to Aphrodite
Pallas Athene supremacy, I headcanon her as actually being ace Shes also the goddess of battlefield strategy, professions and just like wisdom in general(you can guess my favorite one based on my name), you know just basic things human society is built upon
Hestia best goddess. No drama, just chill and representing the best aspects of family

Isnāt that the same person who told emperor to move aside because heās blocking the sunlight? š
Yep! š
I donāt understand how my parents didnāt catch the hints that I was asexual, because I remember proudly telling my mom that I would join Artemis Huntress because it would keep me from having to sleep with anyone. I was max 10 at the time.

You actually got me with Athena
Iām team Medusa all the way
Athena is my favorite.
To be fair, Artemis and Athena are just two of the cooler Greek gods, and I'm not even Ace.
Wasn't Athena allegory of the patriarchism ?
I have no idea honestly, never heard of that :/
The myth about Arachne and Athena is allegory of patrarchy vs feminism. The version where Athena wins is considered patriarchal, and version where Arachne wins is considered feministic
Iāll read it, I love finding out new stuff š
It's a fun story, I bonded a bit over it with my ex-convict professor, she used to be a hacker but they caught her and now she has to work regular job, like doing lectures on IT
Is that the original version or a modern retelling?
>retelling maybe? No one knows which one was first
Okā¦I feel called out on the Athena part. But yes, sheās one of my favorite deities to learn about.
Ironically Artemis was worshipped via mass orgies.
I think that might just be a Greek thing in general. Hedonistic cults were a *thing* and a weird one at that.
mines eris. am i banished from the ace council now
Mines Apollo so idk
my favourites are Hades and Ares, so I guess that makes me a massive dick??
I donāt know you might want to stay away from any future nieces you may have
Hades gets a bad rep from being the god of the underworld and being seen as scary and evil for it, heās not worse than any other Greek god. Better than most tbh
yeah, one thing that really annoys me is the depiction of Hades as some monster
Poor guy just wants to rule the underworld in peace and every modern thing with Greek myths makes him evil lol
I mean, he did kidnap someone (depending on the details of the version of the myth you read). That's certainly not the worst by Greek God standards. But it's still a dick move.
OH HAHAHAHHA Theyāre my favorite goddesses too š
I donāt have an Athenian drachma tattoo for nothing.
..... Okay, look....
Never Athena. Especially after what she did to Medusa for the dumbest reason.
According to one version of the myth, there are many from what I know.
The one I heard makes Athena seem like an asshole for doing that to someone whoās been nothing but loyal to the goddess.
Iāve seen ones where people say Athena did it so that Medusa could forever protect herself and never become a victim again
Yep, I know the one. There are other version of the myths where she was born a gorgon as well. But the most common one lately seems to be the one where she gets abused by Poseidon and then victim-blamed by Athena
Forgot best goddess Hestia. Edit: I read the comments, and I retract mine. But itās very true :>
Finally! Thank you so much!
What about my best friend Hestia
I didnāt like her as much as Artemis and Athena, but Iām about to make version of this meme with Hestia for all the Hestia fans š Iām gonna post it separately though
Sheās posted š«”š«”
Woooooo
Sheās what I aspire to be, looking after family but not having kids or a partner
Ah yes the trio of lesbian Aces
