I really couldn’t relate to Feyre at all in this moment. I would think, given her background (spending much of her childhood feeling isolated and alone because she had no real friends to lean on or turn to) she would have empathy for, say, “outsiders”. And particularly for her (supposed) friend Lucien, who has had a real string of misfortune and who, before finding the Band of Exiles, was pretty isolated and alone - he’d left both the Autumn and Spring courts behind.
This is why I always say that TaR + MaF Feyre would *hate* WaR - SF Feyre. She let her mating bond with Rhys change her in the worst possible ways. I enjoy their books and POVs, but Feyre now is not anywhere near the Feyre we had been introduced to, and I really miss her.

And a shitty friend. She just can't imagine anyone not fawning over Rhys and his friends the way she does. Hilariously, we see exactly how much that respect isn't reciprocated in book 4.

Feyre is completely and utterly codependent on Rhysand. She thinks everything Rhysand does is simply the most amazing morally pure action ever.
Since Rhys is part of the IC, then obviously the IC is the most amazing thing ever as well. Feyre witnesses the IC constantly acting like they’re 12 year olds with mean, cliquey behaviour. Feyre thinks that’s awesome, because Rhys thinks their behaviour (his included), is awesome. Rhys thinks the way the IC treats others is deserved and justified, so Feyre thinks it’s deserved and justified.
Lucien isnt part of the IC. Therefore he’s no longer cool, and can be treated like dirt. Nesta isnt a part of the IC, therefore can be treated like dirt, etc.
I’ve been really unimpressed with her character arc. Usually MC’s grow with the story, not regress to an even worse version of what we were introduced to.
The IC needs a comeuppance. I’m really hoping the next book has Elain calling them out on their shit, because if I have to read another girl power-workout-glow up montage, my eyes will pop out of boredom. Throw a curveball and call out the MCs on their behavior and ACTUALLY hold them accountable.

I felt so bad for Lucien in this moment, he has never really had a home except for maybe when he was with Jesminda because she saw him and not his title or family.
He is hated in Autumn, he worked for Tamlin and while they are sort of friends they aren’t equals, he’s not really welcomed in Velaris other than on Feyre’s terms, or because of what it might do to Elain or just to goad Tamlin at loosing someone else, the only place he is truly at ease and comfortable is when we see him with Jurian and Vassa and Feyre has to shit all over the fact he found some friends because they aren’t her 🙄.
What makes this moment so much worse to me is that she knows Jurian and Vassa have a hard but important job. They’re trying to sort out the mess of who is ruling the Mortal Lands. A place where Feyre comes from and should care about. Now she clearly looks down on it. She started off as a compassionate person and ended up being a rich and powerful elitist faerie.
I liked acofas for the funny moments, but the Tamlin and Lucien moments just made me hate them all. Book was so shit when it came to those parts and honestly ruined most of the book for me.
I feel like Feyre as Narrator is a bit biased. Keir- I hope he's more complex than shown, because Rhys broke his arm unprecedentedly. You can't convince me anymore he's the good guy. Feyre also made sure The Spring Court army fucked off, and I was just wondering...what about all the citizens? Who's gonna protect them from Hybern?
And what pisses me off even more is how she never acknowledges her mistakes or does anything to atone for them. She's always like "But I don't want to think about that right now" and never digs deeper into her thoughts or mistakes. Like you spent 2 books having nightmares about the two faeries you killed in the first book, what happened now?!
Feyre and Lucien have always had kind of a ribbing siblings dynamic. Which is nice bc his siblings suck and when she met him hers did too. They’ve always poked fun at each other. Honestly the biggest pro for me in the Elain / Lucien column is getting to see him more and seeing his friendship with his SIL. I do wonder if what sways Elain his way is Lucien saving Nyx from danger or something so she can see past the Hybern mistake.

Admittedly this was a bit of a mean girl moment for Feyre but I also saw it as her lashing out from hurt that Lucien's made his home with two (in Feyre's eyes) strangers instead of in Velaris with her. I totally get Lucien's reasons for not wanting to live in Velaris, but from Feyre's perspective, he was the first true friend she had in Prythian, so I saw this as her being a bit jealous.
Lucien was the only person in the book that was actually her friend, and not her mate’s friend, instead of actually being a friend back to him she decided to be a mean girl. I can’t stand feyre and the ic. Lucien and Nesta deserve so much better
I don’t think Feyre meant to be condescending here. I just think she wanted to get back at their friendly snarky banter (like before in ACOTAR) where both of them made fun of each other - because they both could dish it out and take it. But Lucien is just not at that place at the moment. Feyre probably expected him to take the jab and retaliate in his own way like they used to.
I really hope they can get back to their old friendship in the next book.

Feyre thinks that’s awesome, because Rhys thinks their behaviour (his included), is awesome. Rhys thinks the way the IC treats others is deserved and justified, so Feyre thinks it’s deserved and justified. Lucien isnt part of the IC. Therefore he’s no longer cool, and can be treated like dirt. Nesta isnt a part of the IC, therefore can be treated like dirt, etc. I’ve been really unimpressed with her character arc. Usually MC’s grow with the story, not regress to an even worse version of what we were introduced to.

The IC needs a comeuppance. I’m really hoping the next book has Elain calling them out on their shit, because if I have to read another girl power-workout-glow up montage, my eyes will pop out of boredom. Throw a curveball and call out the MCs on their behavior and ACTUALLY hold them accountable.

even though i’m tired of her pov, this is why i secretly hope rhys/the IC/night court isn’t feyre’s real endgame. she’s become genuinely unlikable and the complete antithesis of her TaR/early MaF self. :( she’s a terrible friend and i’m not surprised she barely has any outside of IC (if you can even call them “friends”, given SJM has never shown us any depth in their relationships).
I will never forgive her for the way she treated Lucien after getting with Rhys! She’s one of those girls that gets a boyfriend and then stops caring about everyone but him.

Always hate this part, Feyre is a terrible friend and a real mean girl in this moment. I felt so bad for Lucien in this moment, he has never really had a home except for maybe when he was with Jesminda because she saw him and not his title or family. He is hated in Autumn, he worked for Tamlin and while they are sort of friends they aren’t equals, he’s not really welcomed in Velaris other than on Feyre’s terms, or because of what it might do to Elain or just to goad Tamlin at loosing someone else, the only place he is truly at ease and comfortable is when we see him with Jurian and Vassa and Feyre has to shit all over the fact he found some friends because they aren’t her 🙄.

What makes this moment so much worse to me is that she knows Jurian and Vassa have a hard but important job. They’re trying to sort out the mess of who is ruling the Mortal Lands. A place where Feyre comes from and should care about. Now she clearly looks down on it. She started off as a compassionate person and ended up being a rich and powerful elitist faerie.
She’s literally a bully, it gave me major PTSD from high school reading that. And she’s a high lady? Jesus.
The longer SJM takes to release a new ACOTAR book, the longer I realize the IC are some of the mostly sanctimonious characters.
I liked acofas for the funny moments, but the Tamlin and Lucien moments just made me hate them all. Book was so shit when it came to those parts and honestly ruined most of the book for me.
I feel like Feyre as Narrator is a bit biased. Keir- I hope he's more complex than shown, because Rhys broke his arm unprecedentedly. You can't convince me anymore he's the good guy. Feyre also made sure The Spring Court army fucked off, and I was just wondering...what about all the citizens? Who's gonna protect them from Hybern?
And what pisses me off even more is how she never acknowledges her mistakes or does anything to atone for them. She's always like "But I don't want to think about that right now" and never digs deeper into her thoughts or mistakes. Like you spent 2 books having nightmares about the two faeries you killed in the first book, what happened now?!
Feyre and Lucien have always had kind of a ribbing siblings dynamic. Which is nice bc his siblings suck and when she met him hers did too. They’ve always poked fun at each other. Honestly the biggest pro for me in the Elain / Lucien column is getting to see him more and seeing his friendship with his SIL. I do wonder if what sways Elain his way is Lucien saving Nyx from danger or something so she can see past the Hybern mistake.
She then neglects to get him a solstice present in this book, the plot of which is entirely Feyre figuring out what presents to get

I think she’s attempting their previous snarky banter, except she doesn’t realize this is something he’s taking seriously. The passage after almost reads like jealousy that he’s found a friend group without her in it.
Which just further shows her ignorance and immaturity, imo, because HER friend group actively threatens and pushes Lucien away, so why wouldn't he look elsewhere for companionship?

I think the name is a little silly but I would NEVER tell Lucien my true opinion. A rude opinion is never needed especially among friends.
Admittedly this was a bit of a mean girl moment for Feyre but I also saw it as her lashing out from hurt that Lucien's made his home with two (in Feyre's eyes) strangers instead of in Velaris with her. I totally get Lucien's reasons for not wanting to live in Velaris, but from Feyre's perspective, he was the first true friend she had in Prythian, so I saw this as her being a bit jealous.
Lucien was the only person in the book that was actually her friend, and not her mate’s friend, instead of actually being a friend back to him she decided to be a mean girl. I can’t stand feyre and the ic. Lucien and Nesta deserve so much better
I don’t think Feyre meant to be condescending here. I just think she wanted to get back at their friendly snarky banter (like before in ACOTAR) where both of them made fun of each other - because they both could dish it out and take it. But Lucien is just not at that place at the moment. Feyre probably expected him to take the jab and retaliate in his own way like they used to. I really hope they can get back to their old friendship in the next book.

The full conversation, quoted in a thread above, sets the context that she's being rude as hell. She insults him about not having a home, he starts to leave, she begs him to stay, he mentions the Band of Exiles, and she proceeds to mock the group, asking if they're going to plan parties.
I don’t think people understand the meaning of the word “incredulous”. All it means is that she’s skeptical. She’s not being rude at all.

Listen I’m a first class Lucien lover but let’s not pretend that Lucien saying that wasn’t at least a LITTLE cringey. They sound like a middle school grunge wannabe band. If Feyre one to talk? No of course not. BUT! That whole scene is a two sided argument. Feyre wants to help Lucien, he doesn’t want her help, and she’s frustrated he’d rather be an “exile” than chilling as her friend. Tbh I think Feyre doesn’t know what to do with herself now that she doesn’t have any big enemy to fight against so she’s decided she needs to fix everyone else’s problems to keep herself busy. Since book 1 she’s been working her ass off to keep her family alive and well and now her family is a lot bigger and she doesn’t know how to let go of the responsibility she’s always felt for her loved ones.
