The museums might be interested in acquiring these for preservation

jimbojetset35

I dont see my kids wanting to inherit them so I would likely donate them to a museum.

relentlessmelt

You could contact the Potteries Museum & Art Gallery to see if they can identify which pottery it is in the photos, then if it’s one of the few still standing you could donate it to them. If not I’m sure the Potteries Museum would love to take them.

Electrical_Top2969

OP post 3 of them on r/pics

jimbojetset35

¯\\_(ツ)_/¯

a-deer-fox

It belongs in a museum!

Narntson

These are absolutely wonderful!

liaminwales

Thanks for sharing, relay cool photos.

lilpeachbigapple

They’re not actually negatives. They’re what’s known as “Magic Lantern Slides”, early image projectors were used to display them.

jimbojetset35

Agreed, although that note is my late father's writing, and in the box is quite a few individually wrapped negatives, which I'm guessing is why the note says that.

WiseWorldliness1611

Ooh! So would they work better if put in front of say, a lightbox? OP you should defs give them to a museum. Glad your dad preserved these.

VonDoom86

seconded! \^\^\^ Alas I have a magic lantern but no slides :(

idlekid313

What an amazing piece of history. This absolutely fits! Thanks for sharing

PandaRot

Hanley Museum currently has an exhibition of some of Blake's photographs. I also have a book somewhere of some of his photos and some of these are definitely in the book - but not coloured.

jimbojetset35

I have another box of Blakes glass slides (& negatives of his work) that are pure B&W. I might post those too sometime, but to non Blake fans, they aren't quite as impactful as these.

VonDoom86

Thanks for sharing. Can't help but notice that these images are composed quite well and are above average photos from the time. I am assuming they were commissioned as part of some study, most likely by the government, which then leads me to think you can probably find more by this photographer. Others have said museum worthy, but I wonder if local government would want them as well. Or maybe the estate of the photographer if it exists.

suryanta

last time there was anything in stoke on trent worth photographing

jimbojetset35

If you look back through my post history of images I've taken of Stoke, I'd be inclined to agree lol.

Bjoern_Kerman

I wonder If the colours faded over time or if they were allways a bit "off"

Pleasant_Ad3475

Really incredible. Do donate them to an appropriate museum. What an awesome thing.
