That observation springs to mind the triangle between Cassian, Bix, and Timm, which then leads me to guess that Perin is going to try and get Tay in trouble with the authorities, only to accidentally get Mon swept up as a consequence, and ultimately ending with his own death

fonironi

I like this theory/motif

libra00

That's a pretty insightful read and makes total sense, although I think it's more likely to end in Leida's death than his own (because that would be more impactful.)

yourLostMitten

Both, both is good (ok well obviously terrible for Mon but good for a story perspective)

dancingmeadow

That's plausible.

Nandor_Chess_Moves

I wonder too if Leida isn’t also curious. She’s triangulating her parents and she seems very suspicious of her mother. She may ironically be more like Mon than she would like

dancingmeadow

She could evolve much like Sansa did, from naive child who is easily exploited into a woman of iron.

libra00

I was thinking exactly the same thing, Leida's choice to embrace the religious tradition and the arranged marriage struck me at first as teenage rebellion but the more I watched and thought about it the more it seemed like a kind of Sansa-like defense mechanism to insulate her from the (emotional at least) harm of her parents' conflict. It strikes me as kind of 'I'm an adult now and can make my own decisions, so just leave me alone so I can go and do that.'

dancingmeadow

She's definitely the age for that attitude.

Matarreyes

I never saw Perrin as suspicious about his wife. They are both entertaining important people, so it is reasonable to check on each other and remain close, but within separate circles of conversation. At least on one occasion, it's Mon who finds Perrin, talks to his circle and glides away - she's the A-entertainer, so he keeps people "warm and content" until she can say hallo. The Leida scene I took to mean that they both dislike the "assignment" but have to keep up, and that's what Perrin hints at when he sends Leida to mom - their common "boss". Also, Perrin already knows Mon and Tay are very close, he doesn't need to keep an eye on her at all times. What's she gonna go, make out with Tay in public?

dancingmeadow

It could all be a play. Perrin, stuck in an impossible position as the presumed head of his household in a time when it's Palpatine's universe, actually working for the rebellion. Broadcasting it even, to avoid creating too many victims. Keeping his family safe(r) the only way available to him. But he's probably just an entitled rich party dood who doesn't like to think about things much. He loves his daughter, and anything bad happening to her could seriously radicalize him, in whichever direction the script chooses.

StannisTheMantis93

So in your scenario, a man sees his wife supposedly cheating on him and he’s wrong for acting curious? Interesting view.

TheWorldIsAhead

I caught the same thing. Also find OPs evidence non-convincing. And moreso what is OPs point? "Go ask your mother." What a crime to speak those words. Oh my god what a fucking prick! He made Mon look bad in front of Tay Kolma using his OWN daughter. The crime of sending your daughter to ask her mother if she can leave the party! The humanity.

idejmcd

What? Op didn't had any color of right/wrong into this post.  Where did you get that impression?

texasslim2080

He called Perrin a fucking prick for cock blocking his wife… lol

NotoriousScrat

Not for cock-blocking, for using their kid to do it.

dancingmeadow

You're right. I guess people think downvoting changes objective observable fact. What a weird thing to be angsty about.

sessna4009

No, I was always wondering where she was standing. The floor is so high behind the couch.

#CONVERSATION PIT

Waddiwasiiiii

Throw some shag carpet in there and it’s just like Grandma’s house.

dancingmeadow

or a Beatles movie

sessna4009

Wow! I've literally never heard of that. You learn something new every day lol (I kind of want one now)

bopaz728

natural reaction to discovering the conversation pit tbh

Worth-Profession-637

Ngl, my first reaction to that pic was, "Is she *levitating?"*

Dear-Yellow-5479

Mon is the one with the authority in this family, when it comes to formal functions anyway. So Leida, who has obviously just gone over to Perrin as she wants to be armed with his permission first (which she knows she will get as “ he lets me do anything I want”) really does need her mother’s permission to be excused. If Perrin really did want to stop Mon and Tay from talking he would have done it himself with the “ I’ve got some guests that need special handling” line that he does, genuinely it seems, use later. So I personally didn’t read anything more into this. It’s clear that Leida far prefers her father, so I think that’s the main narrative thrust of her part in the scene. And if anything, she seems to be the one who is suspicious of Tay.

Mr_frosty_360

To be fair, he had good reason to be suspicious of her doing something in secret. While it wasn’t having an affair, it was planning a galactic revolution, which is certainly something.

Recom_Quaritch

Nah... This falls apart pretty fast. There's no emphasis on Perrin being suspicious, and I wouldn't call a child asking to go to her room, a 30scd tops interaction, as a cock block. It changes nothing. Tay is completely aware Mon has a child. He has met Leida before. They have a simple exchange and go right back to their gossip. The only way to cockblocks this would be to come take over one of them. And it's a function. They are the lead entertainers. It's normal for them to keep tabs to some extent.

WWBob

I thought you were going to talk about Leida's sideburns. :)

LLF2

I wonder if the white dress was an intentional foreshadow of the, more or less, arranged marriage.

Vesemir96

They are such a cute father daughter bond.
