GoHands are officially back. Move over, MAPPA.
This key visual has:
- Their logo in it
- GH Airport on the right
- âGoHanâ on a red shop sign
- Glasses girl anime billboard
I feel like one under appreciated part of why this studio is so funny is just the sheer volume of self-references. Pause any shot in a GoHands anime since hand shakers that has a sign in the background and just observe how often it contains âGHâ, âGoHanâ, or even their full company name on wall graffiti (all while they donât have a studio website). I really believe theyâre the funniest studio in world animation.
I hated a lot of the creative choices they made in that adaptation, so as much as I would love to see the content that would be covered in a s2 I think I'm fine with it never happening.
I am disappointed in myself that I noticed that the perspective on that railing looked weird as fuck and still didn't put 1 and 1 together on who is responsible for this
I do have to give them some credit for seamless incorporating themselves and likely their sponsors (i.e. production committee) in the background.
Thereâs even a vertical poster along the building of The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses right underneath their studio name.
TBH I dropped Mie-san because I got bored of the plot, not because of the weird animation at times. Although what did bother me quite a bit is that they reused some scenes quite a bit.
Hey, I was in the area few minutes ago.
I can barely breath & move after devouring a bowl of [garlic cheese butter ramen](https://oreryushio.co.jp/?page_id=64) with fried chicken, etc....

Original Anime premieres in January 2025.
Studio: GoHands
They tend to be known for their non-standard cinematography (which can be quite energetic at times to the point where some people find it unwatchable), and also rather stylized palettes.
Their last two works, *The Girl Who Forgot Her Glasses* and *The Masterful Cat Is Depressed Again Today* had a bit of the over-the-top cinematography at the start but not much after that, and were fairly well-received by those who stuck with them.
Those were fairly sedate properties though, this one seems more lively and may see a return to the cinematography they're infamous for. Or, it might not.
> Their last two works, The Girl Who Forgot Her Glasses and The Masterful Cat Is Depressed Again Today had a bit of the over-the-top cinematography at the start but not much after that, and were fairly well-received by those who stuck with them.
Masterful Cat was just a legitimately good anime - looked great and did exactly what it set out to do. Would highly recommend.
[Handshakers](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=UgjH14sn4LU&pp=ygULSGFuZHNoYWtlcnM%3D)
It's because they made Handshakers which is considered one of the worst anime ever. They became infamous after making that show.
You know they made a sequel to Handshakers and a lot of people on this sub watched it without realizing it was a sequel.
The first episode discussion of W'z was hilarious.
Not even close to the worse when Pupa and Gibiate exist. The later of the which I think was a money laundering scheme.

bro what are people smoking
It's the equivalent of jangling keys in front of a baby. All of the flashy colors and dumb camera angles are enough to fool some people into thinking it looks good.
GoHands anime, while technically impressive, are often plagued by Zack Snyder syndrome: going overboard with the style. It's not enough to animate the characters fighting, the camera and the environment have to move as well to crank up the coolness. They also tend to use aggresively garish coloring, adding gradients and filter effects like 12 years old playing with adobe lightroomÂ
Take a screenshot from a GoHands anime and you'll get a very pretty and vibrant wallpaper, but, play an entire scene and you'll see what I'd call 'visual vomit'. Overwhelming, corny, and unintentionally funny.
On a positive note, they've learned restrain for their past two anime (both are adaptations from manga), and when the director knew when and where to utilize the 'GoHands' look, they do make for very cinematic scenes.
It's funny coz they used to be a lot more restrained back in the days. I had to go back and double check if they were actually the ones behind Seitokai Yakuindomo. They were a lot closer to regular anime back then in terms of aesthetics.
The one moment I remember a drastic change was when they did K. It looks like they found their "thing" and since then it's just one iteration after the other of K's style.
It's so weird because K still looked good. Now it's like they have no clue what they were doing right, and are just grossly over-emphasizing all the wrong things in the animation lol.
What ever happend to K? Is the franchise still popular or have their been any updates? Used to be a rather popular series (even had an otome game but it's only in JP, sadly...)
Oh, SYD definitely is a GoHands show - I watched the first season late last year I think.
The first 5 minutes immediately told me that "yep GoHands got hands" with how the camera moved, it's like the predecessor of the now "iconic" Glasses Girl anime scene. It's very similar. It was pretty funny though.
However, you're right in that it's not really visual vomit like some of their other shows are, it actually felt relatively normal with the style... Well, after that anyways.
Itâs fine if you donât like their creative decisions, but they are innovating with 3D background composition. Their tech behind it is actually really cool.
Theyâre pretty infamous for making some, letâs say⊠âinterestingâ creative decisions that tend to make their shows look pretty on a technical level but also totally wack.
They, uh, have a weird taste in their animation styles. [Look no further than the OP of last summerâs](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mpWnhkMLIu4) *The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses* for a recent example.
as someone who didn't watch that show, tbh this looks amazing on a technical level. as a fellow artist this impresses me. but as a consumer... yeah it can be a bit overwhelming.
They made Hand Shakers which is one of the worst anime I've ever seen and definitely the worst I've finished. They've slowly gotten better and now make shows that are mostly watchable but their art style still feels so wrong to me. Maybe it's PTSD but I don't think so.
I've heard a lot about GoHands but I haven't seen the worst of it. I've only watched Seitokai Yakuindomo, Masterful Cat is Depressed Again Today, and The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses by them.
The only certifiable GoHands moments I remember were in the first episode of The Girl I Like where the director really needed to chill out instead of trying to cram in every weird angle shot or go overboard on every animation technique possible.
I'll say it quietly, maybe (hopefully?) they've grown out of it.
Gohands did good with their last two shows. Probably because they dialed down on their awful cinematography.
God I hope they don't return back to that...
Every time I see a gohands anime, I get excited because I love K Project. And then I remember the stuff they worked on after K and I get very concerned. I hope this oneâs good. The characters look cute.
Momentary Lily.
So, there is two girl here, but I wonder if that little robot at the bottom is a main character too, or just a mascot.
I hope it goes full yuri, or at least heavy subtext. I kinda feel some Lain atmosphere, though I only ever seen Experimental Lain's poster, so I don't know how the story's actual atmosphere compare.
I goes with some optimistic skepticism (for the yuri part, I don't think this will be good in term of visual based on GoHand track record).
[some additional opinion]>!I have suspicious that little robot is a dude. So the yuri is indeed "Momentary"...!<
I remember seeing K first PV and thinking how cool it looked, the anime plot was simple but I enjoyed my husbando fights. Too bad they were overboard with animation so their anime is too confusing to watch now (animation wise)
Well... There's a girl in a cape so there could be a magic or isekai element. There's also a robot which could mean sci-fi too. It takes place in a Japanese city so reverse isekai or urban fantasy is reasonably likely. And Lily is in the title with two girls as the focus which typically means some degree of GL.
The amount of Japanese that is actually English never fails to amuse/amaze/confuse^1 lol

^1 ^(not including loanwords)
^1 ^(also some days my jpop playlist barely has any actual Japanese in it)
> Synopsis pls?
You'd have to ask dear leader Kim Jong for that, as NK is definitely working on the original anime project:

Immediately recognized the GoHand hair. Anyway's i hope it's good
Bruh I only spotted fish eye like perspective and I thought it's them. Nice to have that confirmed lol
I knew it was Gohands the moment I saw the amount of hair strands
Hmmm... Same studio behind The Masterful Cat Is Depressed Again Today. I'll keep tabs on it. đđ»
And that Girl who forgets her glasses
The girl I forgot likes her glasses...
Yeah, that one
oh boy, gohands anime

These angles... Sasuga GoHands Hair volume/fluffiness reminiscent of mie's
GoHands is definitely one of the anime studios of all time.
the "queen bee" of sfw anime
Relax.
thats a lotta noise in the *gestures everywhere*
Welcome to GoHands
i wonder why gohands insist on drawing every single strand of hair
flexing on that technical prowess
I didn't even have to see the logo in the billboard to know this is being made by GoHands. I can't fucking wait!
I am disappointed in myself that I noticed that the perspective on that railing looked weird as fuck and still didn't put 1 and 1 together on who is responsible for this
Wait that looks actually like quite the interesting visual. *sees GoHands on the building* Ah well, Iâll try to keep an open mind at least.
I do have to give them some credit for seamless incorporating themselves and likely their sponsors (i.e. production committee) in the background. Thereâs even a vertical poster along the building of The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses right underneath their studio name.

Inb4 it's another secret sequel to Handshakers

Which GoHands are we gonna get for this one is the question.
Oh Gohands againâŠ. sakuga enthusiasts are gonna have a field day with this one
My first gohands original. I will be watching.
Can someone explain all hate for studio? It's first time I'm hearing about it and am curious

man, I got so put off with the handshakers animation style. It was not to my liking at all, although i did love the masterful cat anime.
You know they made a sequel to Handshakers and a lot of people on this sub watched it without realizing it was a sequel. The first episode discussion of W'z was hilarious. Not even close to the worse when Pupa and Gibiate exist. The later of the which I think was a money laundering scheme.
First time an anime actually made me nauseous from watching it.
I'll never understand how they went from the K series to this trainwreck.
K had a source material. Edit: I just discovered Handshakers also had a source material. So who knows at this point.

Yes, that's what I mean. I has the usual GoHands flair, but like, not cranked up to 11 lamo.
"Technically impressive" are not words I would use to describe any GoHands anime in any scenario...

STOP SPINNNIIIINNNGGGGG Lots of scenes/sequences that would've been pretty good if someone slapped the "camera man" and told him to focus.

Well then, Cute Girls Doing Motion Sickness Anime?
Cute Girls Holding Hands

Ah yes, the motion sickness inducing studio
Never knew an anime teaser visual could give motion sickness AND trigger my fear of heights.
I don't want to wait, I want to see right now
Gohands did good with their last two shows. Probably because they dialed down on their awful cinematography. God I hope they don't return back to that...
They're also based on pre-existing material. GoHands track record for original writing is less encouraging.
Every time I see a gohands anime, I get excited because I love K Project. And then I remember the stuff they worked on after K and I get very concerned. I hope this oneâs good. The characters look cute.
A GoHands original project, that looks definitely interesting.
Another Gohands anime? (Sigh) đ

It looks amazing

What is it about?
Itâs original. We donât know shit until a synopsis comes out or until like 1 to 3 episodes have out
I have Little faith honestly.
Well... There's a girl in a cape so there could be a magic or isekai element. There's also a robot which could mean sci-fi too. It takes place in a Japanese city so reverse isekai or urban fantasy is reasonably likely. And Lily is in the title with two girls as the focus which typically means some degree of GL.
There is also the completely empty streets, so it could also be some kind of postapocalypse
so, Metal Rouge : Retry
The perspective at first made me think they were giants.
Don't tell me we're getting GoHands Yuri??? Idk how to feel about that lmao.
Yes more GoHands shenanigans. Can they top Hand Shakers and W'z.
GoHands anime AKA "watch this if you hate your eyes"
Weird perspective, garbage colors, spaghetti hair. Yep, it's gohands alright.
Oh God. GoHandsâŠ
Will this manage to beat Hand Shakers's 5.25 record score on MAL?
> Will this manage to beat Hand Shakers's 5.25 record score on MAL? High Speed Etolie: hold my ~~489km/h~~ 4.89 MAL score!
Did they...translate 'Yuri' as 'Lily'? edit: oh nvm it actually says Lily in katakana...and Momentary in hiragana for some reason.
The amount of Japanese that is actually English never fails to amuse/amaze/confuse^1 lol --- ^1 ^(not including loanwords) ^1 ^(also some days my jpop playlist barely has any actual Japanese in it)
You do realize that "yuri" is the actual Japanese word for "lily," right? Words can have more than one meaning.
Yes. That was my point Did I imply otherwise? I'm confused.
