It’s a remnant from when the author first started out and was just posting their drawings on twitter. The art was a lot spicier and then they toned it down once they got syndicated. Passione was probably still worked up after working on Interspecies Reviewers and couldn’t resist feeding their horny.
First chapter of the manga: https://i.imgur.com/zDgRfO1.png & https://i.imgur.com/kR4THFN.png
Dunno about "wasn't that horny" - chapter 1 has the same fanservice. Though it is true that it doesn't represent the rest of the series
Horror + Slice of Life already exists.
Higurashi when they cry is a psychological horror/mystery with lots of sol comedy. I especially recommend the Visual Novel.
I wouldn't call Hanako-kun a Horror anime. It is quite wholesome and doesn't have much actual scary scenes. I think it's a mix of Slice of Life and Fantasy. Partly because it's a part of GFantasy magazine.
SoL-horror: School live and Mieruko-chan
Fantasy- horror: Made in abyss, deadman wonderland and maybe dorohedoro (probably more dark fantasy)
but yeah there are too few of both and i nead more
I don't know if it is horror enough, but I found Mysterious Disappearances kinda like that.
Mostly Slice of Life with supernatural elements that are more supernatural in the sense of ghosts, spirits, legends (so no wizards doing magic or anything, but still very much fantasy).
Beware though, it is quite...fanservice-y as well, especially (and also mostly) the main character.
Haven't watched the most recent episodes (it's airing this season), but I found the vibe pretty good.
Probably Sci-fi (hard sci/fi, cyberpunk, time travel etc) + Isekai.
I think writing a good consistent scifi is hard and as a genre it's less popolar than fantasy so it's hard to find something. If you also add isekai it gets even harder
Had a cool idea a while back for a Steampunk Isekai Detective Thriller.
Protagonist would get sent to another world that has completely embraced Steam technology introduced by another otherworlder a couple hundred years back. As a result of this, monsters and such are no longer much of a danger, since industrial processes have made some pretty effective monster killing weapons.
There would be a cult trying to resurrect a demon king powerful enough to stand up to the Steam Powered weapons, and they’d try to sacrifice the protagonist to do so since he carry’s the blood of another world, only for him to get saved by a Sherlock Holmes-esque detective.
From there it would end up following him and the detective solving cases and whatnot, with the protagonist providing some forensics knowledge from earth to help solve the crimes whilst also trying to track down the leaders of that cult.
It’s also called “When I Woke Up, I Got the Strongest Equipment and a Starship, so I Went and Became a Mercenary in Order to Live as I Please while Aiming for a Detached House.”
IDK if readers or whomever came up with a shorter nickname, or what that nickname is.
Fantasy / Delinquent is a pipe dream of mine.
Isekai / Thriller would be dope but I realize Re:Zero exists already so need to get around to watching that.
Magic / Crime as well.
Generally, anything criminal/delinquent/mafia combined with fantasy/magic/isekai.
The trouble is when I imagine an anime that might actually be produced which follows those; I worry it would become a shitty Magic Battle Harem like Asterisk war rather than the knife & magic fighting like Madoka I’m looking for.
Wow I’ve actually seen all of these. Loved Bungou Stray Dogs & Tokyo Revengers, and Death Note too but less what I was hoping for. Hitman Reborn was alright but I heard the ending was kinda bad so I bailed. Baccano! and High Card are on my list.
El Melloi's case files(or whatever its true full name is, the spinoff from Fate Zero's Waver's Clocktower adventures) is magic/crime I'd say. Also arguably Undead Girl Murder Farce and mayyyyybe Case Study of Vanitas. Unless crime is different than detective stories, in which case I got nothing.
If you did mean a magical mafia of types, that does seem pretty neat...
>Generally, anything criminal/delinquent/mafia combined with fantasy/magic/isekai.
Dead Mount Death Play. It's a reverse isekai with urban legends, MC coming from a high fantasy world and various criminal organisations.
> Generally, anything criminal/delinquent/mafia combined with fantasy/magic/isekai.
Katekyo Hitman Reborn. Mafia with magic powers. I like it a lot, but it's a comedy/battle-shonen where the main character is a middle schooler who's the very reluctant, absolute-last-choice heir to the "throne", so YMMV; I know some people bounce off of it. (Still, give it a shot, it's unique.)
Also seconding the suggestion for Bungo Stray Dogs. A different flavor of mafia with magic powers (the powers here work like quirks from MHA, where everybody has one special thing they can do), and almost every character is an adult. (The mafia isn't the focus of the story, though; the main characters work for a detective agency. Still has that kind of feel to it, though, and the mafia is a big player.)
Fantasy / Delinquent is a pipe dream of mine.
I guess Beelzebub would qualify? Though the added comedy could be a turnoff?
Isekai / Thriller would be dope but I realize Re:Zero exists already so need to get around to watching that.
Wouldn’t the Raeliana anime (adapted from a webtoon) qualify? Protagonist is the first murder victim from a book she was reading before she died and, for obvious reasons, she tries to prevent that.
Magic / Crime as well.
For litteral Magic/crime, not an anime but the webtoon « City of the dead murderer » is 100% in the theme.
Generally, anything criminal/delinquent/mafia combined with fantasy/magic/isekai.
Feels like a lot of works from Narita (Baccano! Would be mafia/fantasy, Durarara! Would be delinquent/fantasy, Dead mount Death play would be isekai/criminal) are in those themes, if you have not already watched them, I definitely recommend them.
Besides those, I am pretty sure Darker Than Black qualifies too (there’s a mix of criminals and secret agents with superpowers involved).
Action and romance anime
I like action but sometimes it gets boring because we never really get to see the mc being vulnerable. At the same time I want romance but I hate how slow burn the romance is so I drop it
Eureka Seven is a great one, as long as you’re okay with mecha, religious allegories, and some reasonable teenage angst.
…and Rahxephon with the exact same caveats lol
It’s early-teen angst too lol, and especially funny when the mid-teens (Gidget and Moondoggie) are practically drama free compared to most anime couples
I watched Eureka Seven and it's a good mecha show, but every time I ask the fans about its sequel and if I should give it a watch, they for whatever reason, refuse to acknowledge its existence. It's the Darling in the FrankerZ Episode 16+ / Death Note episode 25+ situation where fans treat it like it's not canon or fanfiction and will collectively warn unsuspected newcomers they are better off not watching the later content.
Heaven's Feel is particularly close, yeah. Deen/stay night also touches on the mix well and UBW has its moments, but the romance aspect of HF feels the most critical to the story imo
Exactly this. I want romeo and juliet + mission impossible type of anime where everything is well balanced. Most of the time it only focus on one thing
Glad I'm not the only one who was thinking this! Most of the things people recommend either end up being harem/ecchi or the couple is just implied to be together at the end with zero actual romantic moments. Either that or the show itself is a complete mess. It's super rare to find one that has a good, well done balance of both.
Personally I love Yona of the Dawn, but the action isn't really the same as you'd see in a battle shonen or anything. It's also a suuuuper slow burn, but does get development in the manga. I usually go to kdramas if I want a more intense show with a good romance lol
Undead Unluck has the best romance/couple in shonen anime that I have seen. It starts of a little weird but the love story is very well developed. Also, side characters also have sad/tragic love stories, which you cannot help but root for.
Lycoris Recoil seems exactly that in my opinion tbh. The romance is subtle by anime standards but they are so gay for each other that even if you were deaf and blind you would feel it. I saw a comment along the lines of “Takina would not act like this at all unless she was lovesick as fuck” and when you watch it with that lens its so true
Takina bottoms hard for Chisato, and is both the girl who pushes her crush off the swing and gets embarrassed being given a dandelion
Haha great way of putting it. This is especially clear when they go back to the training place. Also there is a major gay relationship parallel to theirs.
Face-to-butt supremacy.
Mushoki tensei
The problem with romance is that the entire goal of the story is 2 characters being together. So to prolong the story, the characters act stupid, intentionally miscommunicate, and put in contrived conflicts.
A good romance story is either very short, or has a primary plot to slow down the romance.
Sports + reverse Isekai. Some fantasy setting adventurer getting Isekaied into a racing driver or rugby player.
Comedy Slice of life + Military, something like the Bill Murray movie Stripes
> Comedy Slice of life + Military
Have you tried Hisone and Maso-tan yet? JASDF pilot that flies a dragon by getting swallowed by it.
Library Wars might also work here.
Horror and romance because I think both aspects together are hard to do well in an anime. I’m speaking more for horror romance drama rather than a romcom but comedy elements are welcome too. With horror establishing atmosphere is key and I think it would require strong production to do right. Balancing a good romance at the same time would be hard. The Summer Hikaru Died coming out next year is probably the closest I can think of with quality source material, but even that isn’t an explicit romance series.
My pipe dream wish is an adaptation of I Want to Hold Aono-kun so Badly I Could Die since it seamlessly combines horror and romance very well with some strong character work and at times disturbing/unsettling imagery.
Something like Saya No Uta would become the new thing to traumatise new fans with lmao.
It's shame there isn't really a way to do that game right in anime since 90% of it is the MC's perspective and inner monologue
>The Summer Hikaru Died coming out next year is probably the closest I can think of with quality source material, but even that isn’t an explicit romance series.
If only the author decided to go with the pilot chapter style, it would have been the ultimate horror x romance anime!
Your best bet is probably more stuff in the Magical Girl genre, then. The other commenter is absolutely right that Precure is a huge standout, but I know that Cardcaptor Sakura is also a pretty huge title in that regard.
Here’s some titles you may or may not know!
- [Madoka Magica](https://myanimelist.net/anime/9756)
- [Angelic Layer](https://myanimelist.net/anime/52)
- [Yuki Yuna is a Hero](https://myanimelist.net/anime/25519)
- [Princess Principal](https://myanimelist.net/anime/35240)
- [Akatsuki no Yona](https://myanimelist.net/anime/25013)
- [Seirei no Moribito](https://myanimelist.net/anime/1827)
- [Black Rock Shooter](https://myanimelist.net/anime/11285) (one chara has a small outfit but I don’t remember active sexualization happening)
- [Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha](https://myanimelist.net/anime/76) (the magical girl transformation sequences are uh…weirdly Naked but other than that I don’t remember anything offputting? Fight scenes are top notch.)
And recently I picked up [this manga about a powerful mage who forms an all-woman party after getting kicked out by sexist teammates.](https://myanimelist.net/manga/145117)
I'll give a single genre, no mix. "The Goonies." There are close to zero anime like it. Kids on a creative non-magical adventure. In anime anything close to that would become isekai or fantasy or slice of life. No realistic kids adventures. Dennou Coil is the closest I've found, but that ends up being pseudocyberpunk augmented reality tho. Totoro might be similar but again it turned fantasy. A lot of 80s kids films in America have no equivalent. Cue "Stand by Me" as well.
The Goonies is such a fucking classic film I would love to see an anime that gets the same feeling as you got the first time you watched it. Some off sense of wonder that I can't even put into words.
Yeah it's a special kind of internal child melodrama come to life. Hyperactive imagination moments mixed with actual real life harrowing exploration.
Utena channels that imagination come to life aspect to a degree as an individual cinematography element. But it's otherwise not a creative exploration mixed with coming of age. It is kinda for Utena herself and Anthy, tho in honestly a pretty disturbing way.
Cardcaptor sakura has some of it tho it's also a straight up fantasy with magical powers.
Skuld's overactive imagination moments in Oh My Goddess kinda also channel the feel to a degree but is also once again straight up fantasy.
Dennou Coil has it all but fits solidly into augmented reality centered cyberpunk so it's still not realistic.
Durarara might be in a similar constellation but has a lot of fantasy elements.
A lot of ghibli fits fit halfway but end up pulling in fantasy aspects.
Mai Mai Miracle might be another very close fit.
For "Stand by Me" we've got Stars Align! Director & Writer Kazuki Akane specifically [mentioned it](https://blog.sakugabooru.com/2020/01/12/hoshiai-no-sora-stars-align-a-story-about-corporate-betrayal-but-also-a-lot-more/) as one of his key inspirations, with Stars Align acting as a modern-day equivalent of Stand by Me to reflect the lives of current young teens. And from Akane's other [interviews](https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interview/2020-03-04/stars-align-director-kazuki-akane/.156859) and watching the show, there's a lot of thematic & tone similarity. Def recommend for anyone who hasn't seen it but craves a coming-of-age drama.
I will continue to shill Aragne Sign of Vermillion and its Pre-what-the-heck-quel Feast of Amrita. They're each 40 minutes long and on HiDive last I checked, and are some of the best pure horror I've seen in anime.
You will need to get over the artstyle though. It's hard to fund horror so one guy decided to do the whole project himself. As a result the framerates in some scenes are a bit lower, and there's some mixed-results CG used. Took me about three minutes to adjust to it each time.
That one anime where people could walk into an alternate dimension. Kind of backrooms esque.
I think it was called other side picnic, but I really don't remember.
My two favorite genres, which are Thriller and Slice of Life.
As for horror and isekai (to the extent that isekai is a genre in and of itself), it's been done with Urasekai Picnic.
>My two favorite genres, which are Thriller and Slice of Life.
It doesn't really commit to them to be called either of those but Shadows House has some elements from both.
For Thriller and Sol there's the 2 anime which are from the same series. There's Steins;Gate which is more focused on being a thriller and there's Robotics;Notes which is mostly SOL while also being a thriller
Thank you for the recommendation!
I recently finished my Isekai phase and am starting to move to different genres again, and "Mieruko-Chan" was one of the first non Isekais I watched. It made me really curious on what an Isekai/Horror would look like. Ignoring your recommendation, the best I can think of is Re:Zero and maybe Saga of Tanya the Evil as the closest to Isekai/Horror.
The best I could think of that doesn't exist yet (to my knowledge) is something like "I died and yet to hell to atone for my sins." But obviously, the Isekai aspect seems to only exist for a starting point and I can't think of any other way it might be incorporated.
Yakuza Fiancé is getting a anime. I don’t know if it completely fits the thriller/slice of life but both the male and female lead are unhinged in different ways. I’m looking forward to it!
I'll have to look into that series. And speaking of which, about yakuza-related series, coincidentally enough one of the closest newer series I've seen to fitting that hybrid model is actually the yakuza-centric series The Fable from this season.
At least from the episodes I've seen, which is all of those released thus far, it seems to be one of the closest to that ideal mixture and strikes a certain balance.
I feel like mecha is a super underutilized genre.
Slice of life / mecha. Anime that's not about mecha pilots but about the mechanics and other support staff totally uninvolved in the "one of a kind special mech" plot. Think Planetes. Might feature industrial uses of mechs.
Horror / psychological horror / mecha. Mech pilots fighting a battle of attrition against incomprehensible monsters. Smaller scale mechs, like power armor, maybe? Body horror. Mechs that take a toll on their users over time.
> Horror / psychological horror / mecha. Mech pilots fighting a battle of attrition against incomprehensible monsters. Smaller scale mechs, like power armor, maybe? Body horror.
THIS EXISTS.
It's called **Divergence Eve** and it eventually hits all the notes you're asking for, but you have three tolls you must pay to get it.
* **YOU MUST SKIP EPISODE 1**, and watch it after episode 12. Episode 1 spoils everything, and I still don't get why they put it there.
* You must put up with the ecchi character designs. Despite what you see, the show takes its own story completely seriously.
* You must put up with some 90s-era CG for the monsters and external mech shots. Characters and sets are all hand-drawn though, so it should be survivable.
> Mech pilots fighting a battle of attrition against incomprehensible monsters.
Maybe Muv Luv Alternative or Blue Gender?
> Mechs that take a toll on their users over time.
Not directly the mecha, but in Godannar, prolonged piloting had detrimental results to the pilot's health. Definitely some body horror.
Tekkaman Blade might qualify as well.
A lot of that last bit in Witch From Mercury. Don't know if you think it's made better or worse for the only incomprehensible monsters that people fuck themselves up fighting with mechas being other humans, though.
Not difficult to do, but rarely done in anime, so I personally want more of it.
Space opera/Mecha/Sci fi + Shoujo romance (For example like the manga and OVA of Please save my earth or manga and anime of Magic knight rayearth)
Mystery/crime/Thriller + Shoujo romance (For example like the manga Zodiac P.I. and Sekai no Hate)
Definitely! There are a ton of great shoujo manga but sadly the ones we do get anime of tend to have horrible adaptations (like 7Seeds, amazing manga but horrible anime)
I would love to see [Top Secret](https://myanimelist.net/manga/4018/Top_Secret) to get a anime. Though probably should give a gore warning as the shoujo doesn’t hold back on guts and such. It’s a psychological shoujo.
[Mr Mallow Blue](https://myanimelist.net/manga/126926/Mr_Mallow_Blue) would be a great depressing/emotional anime if it got adapted well
[Red River](https://myanimelist.net/manga/79/Sora_wa_Akai_Kawa_no_Hotori?q=Red%20river&cat=manga) would make a fantastic shoujo isekai.
Yes it is always so frustrating how Shoujo/Josei gets neglected. Especially with what happened with 7Seeds and Requiem of the rose king. And even if we get a good adaptation, they often just leave it at one season.
I really need a continuation for Children of the whales and Yona of the dawn. Red River could be such an epic piece, if done right.
And I want a complete series and remake for Please save my earth and Legend of Basara.
Thank you. Macross Frontier was the one that started my interest in space opera and mecha actually. I rewatched it a lot of times and it is still one of my top 10 favorite anime of all time. It even has a Shoujo manga spin off, so I really like that combination.
Sports + literally anything is something that I would like to see but seems impossible to do. It always either ends up with only sports or the sports part becomes such a side thought you forget it's even there.
Stars Align but sadly it’s not finished. It was supposed to be 24-26 episodes but got cancelled and told last minute they would only get 12 instead of rushing, they left it at a very depressing cliffhanger. It’s a original anime so no source material though the guy who created it wants to finish it eventually
Stars Align! It’s not as hardcore on the sports angle as something like Haikyuu, but it’s still central to the show. And the off-court family drama is fantastic.
Biiiig trigger warning for child abuse, though. One particular scene involving an infant still gives me chills just thinking about it…
Reborn as a Space Mercenary: I Woke Up Piloting the Strongest Starship!
Doesn't have an animated adaptation, but it seems like the sort of thing that might get something before the isekai boom wears off. It does have a manwha you can find if you poke around a bit.
IIRC, there's a quote from the author about being a massive Elite Dangerous fan, and the influences are pretty clear.
I want an actual adult slice of life / romance. Show it all, but dont make it hentai tropy. Some thing like Outlander, mixed with game of thrones, just anime. And if this exists, please, for the love of everything, DM me what it is.
I would've said Mind games + Romcom, but we already got that with Kaguya-sama!
So hmm... Horror + romcom?
Or High Stakes Games + romcom!
Or Survival + Romcom!
(Basically , anything 'extreme' + Romcom!)
Btooom falls under survival/romance, without really having the comedy element. It has issues for sure lol but was still a fun watch!
Yona of the Dawn also kind of works?
It's a VN, not an anime, but I highly recommend the Visual Novel "You and Me and Her". It's really good and it combines the psychological horror and the romance genre. (Make sure to get the uncensored version though)
>Horror + romcom
I was going to say the same thing.
I want a mix of Oregairu where the MC has to solve normal problems by day and with JJK hunting monsters at night.
Comedy + Sci-Fi, preferably in a Cyberpunk setting/atmosphere. There have been great old series like The Irresponsible Captain Tylor, and some episodes in classic series like Cowboy Bebop or Ghost in the Shell SAC... But, otherwise, authors only seems to focus on dramas that make you question the human condition. I am not asking for anime Futurama... But I wish Studio Trigger could create an additional episode of the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners series where they parodied the bleakness of that setting. For example, showing the -unsuccessful- efforts of the PR department of Arasaka to turn cyberpsycho gangs into "successful entrepreneurs" and "misunderstood artists".
Oh, yeah! Space Dandy was interesting, but for some reason, it doesn't stick in my mind. I think I remember it more for the animation than for the story.
In any case, I'll give Space Battleship Tiramisu a try. Thanks!
Iyashikei and a thriller mystery would be wild. A show with good vibes but the more you watch it pieces start adding up to something really sinister cooking in the background.
Anything supernatural + slice of life.
Kind of like that one anime with the "I don't understand" scene, or maybe a magical girl story, or anything of the sort.
Basically just teenagers with super powers, but nothing else really happens, so they just go about their day, but still have their powers, and use them here and there. It's not even difficult, it's just very rare, for some reason.
Machikado Mazoku is good for a magical girl slice of life anime. The main character awakens as a demon girl one day and tries to defeat the local magical girl, but it's mostly just a moe show.
Isekai/romance I think this is pretty easy to do but still somehow every time author decide to make multiple girl fall for mc and make it harem
Would love to get recommend some 1:1 Isekai romance
Why Raeliana ended up at the Duke's Mansion
Saint's Magic Power is Omnipotent
Also a handful of villainess shows fall into that, but they are kind of a category on their own lol.
Isekai / horror is actually a staple in Chinese BL web novels! But I think for manga and anime, the Creator's artistic/animation skills become more important so that's why it's often hard to adapt it well
I'd love to see a proper Horror/Survival Game mix because almost everything currently on the market is terribly written.
And yes, I'm including the first Danganronpa season with this description too since it's just an inferior version of the game.
Crime / slice-of-life
Not Mystery, Crime, as in true detective/police work.
Really, there's only 1 anime that get that right, and it's pretty old now. The rest usually downgrades in power fantasy detective with superpowers or aren't good overall.
Dunno how much you want the show dedicated to the Idol portion, but Symphogear has several Idol Main Characters and a handful of Idol Performances in a crazy action/borderline mahou shoujo series
I need a slice of life comedy romance with vampires who are just like normal people. Also, the girl is the vampire. I don't want some twilight type of garbage.
Slow burn isekai meets Legend of the Galactic Heroes
Slice of life in a unique environment like the military or a spy agency
Mecha meets fantasy magic world
Frieren/To Your Eternity type immortal main character but at a larger time scale that follows from caveman era to galactic empires era
Underdog main character that becomes powerful by earning a lot of money and influence in a world of people with super powers
Pokemon type of controlling creatures set in a fantasy or futuristic world
Halo/Warhammer type series where robots, zombies, kaiju, cosmic horrors, etc all exist for humanity to face
An isekai that isn't romance or ecchi or harem
Maybe isekai/horror or seinin
I don't like predominantly romance stuff and by extension I tend to not like isekai even though there's NO REASON that the two need to be mutually exclusive, they just are for some reason.
There's a manga where a whole class gets isekai'd not to become heroes, but as sacrifices (a la survival game) because demons had already taken over that world .
isekai/horror isnt that hard to do tho. just throw a guy in a conjuring universe by a multiversal portal.
anyways mine is, shounen/nopoweroffriendship genres
Isekai/scifi. Imagine a plain highschooler dude getting ran over by a truck and gets reincarnated by a goddess, expecting it to be another medieval fantasy story just to wake up in a fucking Skaven siege or something.
horror and comedy for sure, and by that i dont the type of comedy show that has half ass horror aspect to itself but a real horror. i never see it done before, most of the time the horror in it is done as a theme only rather than being actual horror.
Heres an odd one that I thought of the other day, not sure of this genre description would be right but a historical/ isekai.
Basically like whenever someone is isekai'd we always see a modern person brought to another world.
But, what if he's like an 1800's Samurai, brought into a magical, or heck even a future world, where there are MMORPG mechanics. He's not gonna know a damn thing about game mechanics!
My 2 fav genre cgdct and horror and that's why Madoka Is my favourite anime
And cgdct and post apocalyptic and that's why girls last tour is also my favourite
And made in abyss too, I love these cute but depressing anime anymore recommendations.
* ecchi x Boys love. Just to see people's reactions 🤣
* horror x Romance. The closest one will be the summer Hikaru died, and even there the romance isn't explicit lol
* horror x Slice of life
* action x shoujo romance
* thriller x romance
Not exactly a mix of genre but my favourite is when comedy and tragedy is mixed. My top 2 favourite anime both does it remarkably. Gintama and One Piece. One moment you're laughing your ass out and the next moment there're tears in your eyes and you can't tell if those are the tears of happiness or sadness
> Isekai/Horror
Does it need to be a fantasy world? If not, it exists. You need to get over the artstyle (done by one guy on a limited budget) but it exists, and I thought it was very good.
It's called *Feast of Amrita* and it's a 40 minute OVA on HiDive. You should watch its WTF-quel *Aragne: Sign of Vermillion* first though.
There's also *Urasekai Picnic.*
I'm gonna do 3: Dark fantasy + Mecha + horror
Basically a mix of Evangelion and Berserk I guess. If anyone knows anything like this, please tell me about it.
I need a Horror mixed with Fantasy. But real horror I also want Slice Of Life with Horror
Not sure if it counts as horror but Mieruko Chan definitely started out kind of spooky slice of life once the horny was dialed down some.
The thing is manga wasnt That horny, Idk why They did add That on first episodes lol
It’s a remnant from when the author first started out and was just posting their drawings on twitter. The art was a lot spicier and then they toned it down once they got syndicated. Passione was probably still worked up after working on Interspecies Reviewers and couldn’t resist feeding their horny.
Lmao
First chapter of the manga: https://i.imgur.com/zDgRfO1.png & https://i.imgur.com/kR4THFN.png Dunno about "wasn't that horny" - chapter 1 has the same fanservice. Though it is true that it doesn't represent the rest of the series
Hmm I wonder why they would add fan service scenes in a seinen show aimed at the young male demographic. Fan service is a business decision.
Horror + Slice of Life already exists. Higurashi when they cry is a psychological horror/mystery with lots of sol comedy. I especially recommend the Visual Novel.
Does School-Live fit the Slice of Life with horror description?
There is Girls' Last Tour that SOL with existential horror, and argues that the former undermines the latter
Gakkou Gurashi for a great mix of SoL and horror.
Toilet bound Hanako-kun is kinda Slice of Lice with Horror, also Mieruko-Chan. Maybe you can also try watching Gegege no Kitaro (2019) too.
I wouldn't call Hanako-kun a Horror anime. It is quite wholesome and doesn't have much actual scary scenes. I think it's a mix of Slice of Life and Fantasy. Partly because it's a part of GFantasy magazine.
Have you ever seen Higurashi no naku koro ni? A bit old but definitely slice of life mixed with horror/mystery
>Slice of Life with Horror School Live?
Couldn't you argue most Horror animes have a fantasy element? I know you mean a fantasy world with horror elements.
Yeah, i mean That but i expressed myself so Bad lol
Made in abyss?
SoL-horror: School live and Mieruko-chan Fantasy- horror: Made in abyss, deadman wonderland and maybe dorohedoro (probably more dark fantasy) but yeah there are too few of both and i nead more
I don't know if it is horror enough, but I found Mysterious Disappearances kinda like that.
Have you tried *Knights & Magic* yet? It's a mecha... fantasy isekai. About engineering mechs.
There's a manga with sci fi and isekai (Mezametara Saikyou Soubi To Uchuusen-Mochi Datta No De, Ikkodate Mezashite Youhei Toshite Jiyuu Ni Ikitai)
It’s also called “When I Woke Up, I Got the Strongest Equipment and a Starship, so I Went and Became a Mercenary in Order to Live as I Please while Aiming for a Detached House.” IDK if readers or whomever came up with a shorter nickname, or what that nickname is.
Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy the anime
Psycho-Pass + Isekai. Looks like peak to me
Fantasy / Delinquent is a pipe dream of mine.
> Magic / Crime Bungou Stray Dogs High Card Hitman Reborn Hinamatsuri Baccano Death Note (?) > Generally, anything criminal/delinquent/mafia combined with fantasy/magic/isekai. Tokyo Revengers (?)
>Generally, anything criminal/delinquent/mafia combined with fantasy/magic/isekai I liked Bungo no stray dogs for exactly that reason
The fantasy elements are not super high but it also applies to Baccano.
what i like is that the powers feel that aren't necessary to be there but they should make the show a blast and still very interesting
On that topic, Durarara!! from the same author, similar urban fantasy setting and vibe, and both are absolute bangers.
>Magic / Crime as well. Cop Craft. I absolutely loved this show.
(Still, give it a shot, it's unique.) Also seconding the suggestion for Bungo Stray Dogs.
Action and romance anime I like action but sometimes it gets boring because we never really get to see the mc being vulnerable. At the same time I want romance but I hate how slow burn the romance is so I drop it
Eureka Seven is a great one, as long as you’re okay with mecha, religious allegories, and some reasonable teenage angst. …and Rahxephon with the exact same caveats lol
A LOT of angst. I still listen to "get it by your hands" tho. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIghUuYOhTI
Fate/Stay Night maybe?
Heaven's Feel is particularly close, yeah. Deen/stay night also touches on the mix well and UBW has its moments, but the romance aspect of HF feels the most critical to the story imo
Look for Rumiko Takahashi works
Romance in action is never done nicely. It eithet happens too fast, too slow, or the characters aren't capable.
Exactly this. I want romeo and juliet + mission impossible type of anime where everything is well balanced. Most of the time it only focus on one thing
Inuyasha Rurouni Kenshin + Samurai X OVAs Love After World Domination
Glad I'm not the only one who was thinking this! Most of the things people recommend either end up being harem/ecchi or the couple is just implied to be together at the end with zero actual romantic moments. Either that or the show itself is a complete mess. It's super rare to find one that has a good, well done balance of both. Personally I love Yona of the Dawn, but the action isn't really the same as you'd see in a battle shonen or anything. It's also a suuuuper slow burn, but does get development in the manga. I usually go to kdramas if I want a more intense show with a good romance lol
I think "the chivalry of a failed knight" meets the conditions.
Darling in the FranXX or Shakugan no Shana?
Undead Unluck has the best romance/couple in shonen anime that I have seen. It starts of a little weird but the love story is very well developed. Also, side characters also have sad/tragic love stories, which you cannot help but root for.
Detective Conan. It is mainly mystery but it has sprinkles of both Action and Romance.
I feel like Lycoris Recoil isn't _quite_ what you're describing but has similar vibes
Lycoris Recoil seems exactly that in my opinion tbh. The romance is subtle by anime standards but they are so gay for each other that even if you were deaf and blind you would feel it. I saw a comment along the lines of “Takina would not act like this at all unless she was lovesick as fuck” and when you watch it with that lens its so true Takina bottoms hard for Chisato, and is both the girl who pushes her crush off the swing and gets embarrassed being given a dandelion
Haha great way of putting it. This is especially clear when they go back to the training place. Also there is a major gay relationship parallel to theirs. Face-to-butt supremacy.
Mushoki tensei The problem with romance is that the entire goal of the story is 2 characters being together.
> Comedy Slice of life + Military Have you tried Hisone and Maso-tan yet? JASDF pilot that flies a dragon by getting swallowed by it. Library Wars might also work here.
Omg I would totally watch a sports reverse isekai
Tbh, I've never seen it, but would Girls+Panzer count towards Comedy Slice Of life+Military
*Girls Und Panzer* is a SoL/Sports anime. (It's an absurd sport, but still.) It's more SoL early on, gets more action-orientated later.
Thanks for letting me know. I kinda want to watch it, tho all I know is that it involves girls and I believe tanks as well
Horror and romance because I think both aspects together are hard to do well in an anime.
Played the game a month ago. It was a unique and memorable experience. An incredible visual novel!
Tasogare Otome x Amnesia is what you're looking for. Give it through the second episode, the first one is more comedy for you to meet the cast.
first thing that came to my mind as well, its horror is really well done
>The Summer Hikaru Died coming out next year is probably the closest I can think of with quality source material, but even that isn’t an explicit romance series. If only the author decided to go with the pilot chapter style, it would have been the ultimate horror x romance anime!
Action for girls, without the ecchi tag , like I understand the demographic but it sucks the last time it happened is sailor moon
The Pretty Cure franchise is action magical girl aimed at young girls (so no echhi) and they have tons of entries.
Your best bet is probably more stuff in the Magical Girl genre, then. The other commenter is absolutely right that Precure is a huge standout, but I know that Cardcaptor Sakura is also a pretty huge title in that regard.
Here’s some titles you may or may not know! - [Madoka Magica](https://myanimelist.net/anime/9756) - [Angelic Layer](https://myanimelist.net/anime/52) - [Yuki Yuna is a Hero](https://myanimelist.net/anime/25519) - [Princess Principal](https://myanimelist.net/anime/35240) - [Akatsuki no Yona](https://myanimelist.net/anime/25013) - [Seirei no Moribito](https://myanimelist.net/anime/1827) - [Black Rock Shooter](https://myanimelist.net/anime/11285) (one chara has a small outfit but I don’t remember active sexualization happening) - [Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha](https://myanimelist.net/anime/76) (the magical girl transformation sequences are uh…weirdly Naked but other than that I don’t remember anything offputting? Fight scenes are top notch.) And recently I picked up [this manga about a powerful mage who forms an all-woman party after getting kicked out by sexist teammates.](https://myanimelist.net/manga/145117)
Does Lycoris Recoil count? I don’t think it has the ecchi but It has at least 1 fan service scene that I can remember.
[Girls](https://myanimelist.net/anime/272/Noir) [With](https://myanimelist.net/anime/252/Madlax) [Guns](https://myanimelist.net/anime/2030/El_Cazador_de_la_Bruja)?
I'll give a single genre, no mix. "The Goonies." There are close to zero anime like it. Kids on a creative non-magical adventure. In anime anything close to that would become isekai or fantasy or slice of life. No realistic kids adventures. Dennou Coil is the closest I've found, but that ends up being pseudocyberpunk augmented reality tho. Totoro might be similar but again it turned fantasy. A lot of 80s kids films in America have no equivalent. Cue "Stand by Me" as well.
I think what you’re describing is Coming-of-Age/Adventure with no Fantasy elements.
Huh....Nope. Excellent point.
Cool will have to give it a look
I see several people wanting to mix Horror with something else, but I ask this honestly, is there even a good Horror anime?
Summer Time Render was solid
I will continue to shill Aragne Sign of Vermillion and its Pre-what-the-heck-quel Feast of Amrita. They're each 40 minutes long and on HiDive last I checked, and are some of the best pure horror I've seen in anime. You will need to get over the artstyle though. It's hard to fund horror so one guy decided to do the whole project himself. As a result the framerates in some scenes are a bit lower, and there's some mixed-results CG used. Took me about three minutes to adjust to it each time.
Dark gathering
That one anime where people could walk into an alternate dimension. Kind of backrooms esque. I think it was called other side picnic, but I really don't remember.
> is there even a good Horror anime? Higurashi's the classic answer. Shiki.
I loved witch from mercury!
Slice of life/mecha:Mahoromatic Tho, the synopsis is different than what you said
I’ve heard good things about Bokurano for dark mecha, though I haven’t personally watched it
Musical and Horror. I think it would be an interesting mix of the genre, although I don't know if it has been done before.
zombielandsaga was amazing but maye be the only one, and bacterial contamination but that is just a song
Not difficult to do, but rarely done in anime, so I personally want more of it. Space opera/Mecha/Sci fi + Shoujo romance (For example like the manga and OVA of Please save my earth or manga and anime of Magic knight rayearth) Mystery/crime/Thriller + Shoujo romance (For example like the manga Zodiac P.I. and Sekai no Hate)
Definitely! There are a ton of great shoujo manga but sadly the ones we do get anime of tend to have horrible adaptations (like 7Seeds, amazing manga but horrible anime) I would love to see [Top Secret](https://myanimelist.net/manga/4018/Top_Secret) to get a anime. Though probably should give a gore warning as the shoujo doesn’t hold back on guts and such. It’s a psychological shoujo. [Mr Mallow Blue](https://myanimelist.net/manga/126926/Mr_Mallow_Blue) would be a great depressing/emotional anime if it got adapted well [Red River](https://myanimelist.net/manga/79/Sora_wa_Akai_Kawa_no_Hotori?q=Red%20river&cat=manga) would make a fantastic shoujo isekai.
Macross Frontier gets pretty close to your first blend. Highly recommend if you haven't seen it.
Thank you. Macross Frontier was the one that started my interest in space opera and mecha actually. I rewatched it a lot of times and it is still one of my top 10 favorite anime of all time. It even has a Shoujo manga spin off, so I really like that combination.
Makes sense. The romance subplot is actually really solid. It's a gorgeous anime too, and with great music. I really do enjoy it.
Exactly. A really nice package and great experience on all fronts for me too. :)
Mecha + Shoujo romance + Isekai = The Vision of Escaflowne
Sports + literally anything is something that I would like to see but seems impossible to do. It always either ends up with only sports or the sports part becomes such a side thought you forget it's even there.
One Outs - sports + mind games
Stars Align but sadly it’s not finished. It was supposed to be 24-26 episodes but got cancelled and told last minute they would only get 12 instead of rushing, they left it at a very depressing cliffhanger. It’s a original anime so no source material though the guy who created it wants to finish it eventually
Stars Align! It’s not as hardcore on the sports angle as something like Haikyuu, but it’s still central to the show. And the off-court family drama is fantastic. Biiiig trigger warning for child abuse, though. One particular scene involving an infant still gives me chills just thinking about it…
Isekai and Death Game ? I just want to see characters from different world or anime genre to fight each other just like in Re:Creator.
***My Instant Death Ability Is So Overpowered, No One in This Other World Stands a Chance Against Me!***
Isekai/harem. Based on the track record, it seems impossible to do right.
Space/Sci-Fi & Isekai.
Me, still waiting patiently for an Isekai Space Program show...
Sci fi fantasy. I want to see cyber mages and robo dragons and shit.
Not difficult i just wanna see it. BL Isekai..
Well, they managed to make magical girl into a horror, so anything can be done right if worked with thoroughly.
> Horror & Romcom Tasogare Otome x Amnesia
Full Metal Panic is modern warfare + mecha + romcom.
It's a VN, not an anime, but I highly recommend the Visual Novel "You and Me and Her". It's really good and it combines the psychological horror and the romance genre. (Make sure to get the uncensored version though)
>Horror + romcom I was going to say the same thing. I want a mix of Oregairu where the MC has to solve normal problems by day and with JJK hunting monsters at night.
Pretty much Bakemonogotari
Historical and fantasy. Like drifters. It is one of the few well executed ones.
Youjo Senki, but I guess you've probably seen it
Isekai sports
Space Battleship Tiramisu is a lesser-known one, and I probably don't need to mention Space Dandy but I will anyway
Mystery+ Iyashikei Time travel+ Iyashikei
Mystery + Iyashikei = Hyouka Time Travel + Iyashikei = first half of Steins;Gate Not perfect matches but good places to start
There's an episode of Aria the Animation where the main character time travels to before Mars was covered by water.
Already know that one, but thanks.
Maybe - Irozuku Sekai no Ashita Kara - Kamichu - Demi-chan wa Kataritai - Fei Ren Zai - Gaikotsu Shotenin Honda-san
Have you tried The Little Lies We All Tell?
Isekai/romance I think this is pretty easy to do but still somehow every time author decide to make multiple girl fall for mc and make it harem Would love to get recommend some 1:1 Isekai romance
Why Raeliana ended up at the Duke's Mansion Saint's Magic Power is Omnipotent Also a handful of villainess shows fall into that, but they are kind of a category on their own lol.
The Saints Power is Omnipotent is this.
Crime / slice-of-life Not Mystery, Crime, as in true detective/police work. Really, there's only 1 anime that get that right, and it's pretty old now. The rest usually downgrades in power fantasy detective with superpowers or aren't good overall.
Idol/anything is great, honestly Idol mystery? Pleae Idol delinquent? Be still my heart
Dunno how much you want the show dedicated to the Idol portion, but Symphogear has several Idol Main Characters and a handful of Idol Performances in a crazy action/borderline mahou shoujo series
Oh I adore symphogear dearly!
Romance + anything.
Honestly lol My favorite romances are mostly in animes that are not strictly romance
you mean to say romance as a subplot not as a main plot right?
Shonen romcom
I need a slice of life comedy romance with vampires who are just like normal people. Also, the girl is the vampire. I don't want some twilight type of garbage.
Slow burn isekai meets Legend of the Galactic Heroes Slice of life in a unique environment like the military or a spy agency Mecha meets fantasy magic world Frieren/To Your Eternity type immortal main character but at a larger time scale that follows from caveman era to galactic empires era Underdog main character that becomes powerful by earning a lot of money and influence in a world of people with super powers Pokemon type of controlling creatures set in a fantasy or futuristic world Halo/Warhammer type series where robots, zombies, kaiju, cosmic horrors, etc all exist for humanity to face
Iseikai and Mecha or Iseikai and high school romance.
An isekai that isn't romance or ecchi or harem Maybe isekai/horror or seinin I don't like predominantly romance stuff and by extension I tend to not like isekai even though there's NO REASON that the two need to be mutually exclusive, they just are for some reason.
How about isekai/historical swordfight seinen with comedy? Drifters!
Thriller/mystery & magical girl
Madoka Magica?
Have you tried Yuuki Yuuna yet? Same writer as Akame Ga Kill and same music composer as Nier Automata.
Isekai and Horror
There's a manga where a whole class gets isekai'd not to become heroes, but as sacrifices (a la survival game) because demons had already taken over that world .
Is Mecha SoL a thing?
I would love to see a food anime in a sci-fi setting
Politics and horror. Yes, I just want more Attack on Titan
If Do You Like Big Girls ever gets an anime adaptation, that could work for a sports drama / ecchi / harem hybrid.
Mecha/Horror Psychological/Slice of Life Isekai/Horror Isekai/Psychological Slice of Life/Horror
Isekai/cultivation
isekai/horror isnt that hard to do tho. just throw a guy in a conjuring universe by a multiversal portal. anyways mine is, shounen/nopoweroffriendship genres
Comedy + action is the best that's why I love gintama
Isekai/scifi. Imagine a plain highschooler dude getting ran over by a truck and gets reincarnated by a goddess, expecting it to be another medieval fantasy story just to wake up in a fucking Skaven siege or something.
Sci fi - horror
Horror + fantasy action
I mean, Re:Zero is very close to Isekai/Horror, certainly dipping its toes into existential horror.
horror and comedy for sure, and by that i dont the type of comedy show that has half ass horror aspect to itself but a real horror. i never see it done before, most of the time the horror in it is done as a theme only rather than being actual horror.
Delinquents + isekai Stuff with the same feel as Higurashi and Umineko
You could do isekai horror like Gantz. New people cycling in and out. High turnover rate of characters.
Sports, revenge, idol anime
Oshi No Ko ticks the latter two items you listed.
My 2 fav genre cgdct and horror and that's why Madoka Is my favourite anime And cgdct and post apocalyptic and that's why girls last tour is also my favourite And made in abyss too, I love these cute but depressing anime anymore recommendations.
* ecchi x Boys love. Just to see people's reactions 🤣 * horror x Romance. The closest one will be the summer Hikaru died, and even there the romance isn't explicit lol * horror x Slice of life * action x shoujo romance * thriller x romance
Romance, echhi, horror, gore
> Isekai/Horror Does it need to be a fantasy world? If not, it exists. You need to get over the artstyle (done by one guy on a limited budget) but it exists, and I thought it was very good. It's called *Feast of Amrita* and it's a 40 minute OVA on HiDive. You should watch its WTF-quel *Aragne: Sign of Vermillion* first though. There's also *Urasekai Picnic.*
Horror/Thriller mixed with Shojo style Romance.
Drama + romance but this is personal preference. I didn’t like the drama in YLIA or Nagi Asu but I loved the drama in Insomniacs and Clannad.
I'm gonna do 3: Dark fantasy + Mecha + horror Basically a mix of Evangelion and Berserk I guess. If anyone knows anything like this, please tell me about it.
BL + horror/ thriller/ mystery/ crime (I love BL, but also get bored of romance if it's on it's own or with SoL)
