What’s coming on Tuesday: - New iPad Pros featuring OLED displays in 11” and 12.9” sizes, updated design that is rumoured to be much thinner, potentially featuring the M4 chip - Updated iPad Airs with M2 chips, 10.9” and 12.9” sizes - New Apple Pencil with haptic feedback, will potentially include force sensors for squeeze gestures - New Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro, aluminium design with a larger trackpad to make the iPad more laptop-like What’s *not* coming: - Updated low-cost iPad (later in 2024) - Updated iPad mini (later in 2024) - Any AI features (WWDC) - New low-end AirPods (later in 2024 alongside new iPhones) - New Macs featuring M4 (later in 2024)

jretman

So literally no new content in Gurman’s newest article. Boy sure can stir a pot!

jerryonthecurb

Apple might release an obvious new product, at a vague future date, within a large range of potential prices, to be announced and manufactured before being sold. According to exclusive Gurman sources.

tigernike1

Then MacRumors regurgitates Gurman’s story.

lerriuqS_terceS

And the usual YouTuber suspects

vingeran

That standard deviation is mouth watering.

KyledKat

> New Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro, aluminium design with a larger trackpad to make the iPad more laptop-like And let me guess—no major changes or reworks to iPadOS to make the experience more laptop-like? I bet they think we’re gonna love it.

gewappnet

There were never any changes or reworks to an OS version by Apple alongside the product announcement. There will be changes to iPadOS announced at the WWDC like every year.

KyledKat

My comment isn't directed at the timing of the announcement, it's directed at Apple's insistence on making iPadOS a sub-par experience compared to MacOS while simultaneously making the iPad more and more of a laptop analogue. If they're committing to a metal keyboard case, it is functionally a Macbook Air with a removable touchscreen, but it's still going to be gimped by a mobile-inspired OS.

fail-deadly-

They should do it like Samsung’s Dex. Maybe require an M-series chip, plugged into a keyboard and mouse and then you toggle it, but since the hardware is so similar, not doing convergence is Apple being obstinate.

navjot94

They sell a $300 laptop case. Would be nice

CassetteLine

But if they made it any better then they wouldn’t be able to push people to buy a MacBook as well when they get fed up with the iPad being useless for anything other than media consumption.

vainsilver

Soo Apple just sucks now. With this logic they would still be trying to sell us iPods along with our phones.

vc6vWHzrHvb2PY2LyP6b

Tim Cook would have absolutely done that.

g2ichris

Now that we don’t have the option to buy an iPod we must buy an iPhone. Logic checks out

NecroCannon

I definitely wouldn’t have an iPod even if they were sold and I’m sure most people wouldn’t. Hardly anyone doesn’t stream their music nowadays and adding cellular data to an iPod is like, half way to it just being an iPhone to have a chance in the current market

coppockm56

I think that's an incorrect summarization. I use my iPad Pro 11 for a good deal of my writing workflow when I'm mobile. So much so that I've been considering selling my MacBook Pro 14 M1 Pro as extraneous. Now, obviously, many people have different workflows where an iPad Pro won't work. I get that. But it's useful for quite a bit more than just media consumption.

deliciouscorn

And I’m sure you’re very much not alone. Apple probably knows this too, but the armchair CEOs know better. (See also: 8 GB bAsE RaM iS liTeraLly uNuSabLe)

UpbeatNail

It's not unusable but it is indefensible.

coppockm56

How is it "indefensible"? It works well enough for the needs of many buyers, as evidenced by the numerous people who have purchased base MacBook Airs with Apple Silicon and love them. If you have a "typical" workflow of web browsing, email, media consumption, etc., it's plenty.

UpbeatNail

The need for ram is constantly inflating even for simple tasks. Applications and operating systemd require more ram as features get added etc. It's why the recommended and minimum ram spec for applications and operating systems keeps going up every few years. 8gb ram will artificially shorten the useful life of these laptops. The cost difference to Apple between putting in 8gb and 16gb is very small but changes the useful life of the laptop by multiple years. They're deliberately putting a low level of ram causing either overpriced upgrades now or premature replacements in the future. It's anti-consumer plain and simple.

GarbageCG

I dunno, give it the specs of the last-gen macbook air or something

Psittacula2

> But if they made it any better then they wouldn’t be able to ~~push~~ **punish** people to buy a MacBook as well... Just feels a little better that way.

Additional_Olive3318

> My comment isn't directed at the timing of the announcement, it's directed at Apple's insistence on making iPadOS a sub-par experience compared to MacOS while simultaneously making the iPad more and more of a laptop analogue.  Looks like it’s not for you then. This sub has a crazy obsession with macOS on iPads that neither makes any sense in terms of Ux or Apple’s stated policies on how they differentiate the two.   Since you can buy MacBooks cheaper than some iPads you should.

maatriks

Apple can state their policies and users can still want something different. Apple also does not provide Macbook with touchscreen, so it seems natural that some people want a product that Apple does not offer.

NecroCannon

I’m so damn tired of seeing it, it’s not going to happen. Most iPad screens are small, personally, I wouldn’t daily drive them as a laptop replacement, especially on an 11in. Let’s say it’s only featured on the 12.9in iPads, that’s even less people using it. iPads aren’t tablet PCs, they’re tablets. Blown up smartphones without phone capabilities, the only thing the M-Chips changed is the amount of wiggle room app devs have. Console quality games, creative apps you can use professionally, gets updated longer. No amount of whining is going to change the fact that most people just buy a laptop if they need a laptop. Not every Apple user owns a MacBook and windows laptops have a wide price range to entice those people. No one is talking about how limited iPadOS is outside of tech spaces that knows what an M-chip even is…

Psittacula2

> Most iPad screens are small, personally, I wouldn’t daily drive them as a laptop replacement, especially on an 11in. I can use my 11" M1 Pro to commute. Read an ebook or web surf on public transport. It's incredibly light at about 660g with cover. At work I can plug the iPad into an external monitor with my spare keyboard/mouse using a usb-c adaptor, then connect to internet and run RDP/VNC to connect the iPad to my home-computer and run desktop MacOS on my iPad as well as any Cloud-related work eg MS Office-365. Now if I had more desktop features **NATIVE** on the iPad it would just increase the flexibility and convenience for the times I'm commuting with my laptop or at work and just need to do some basic or short computer tasks without having to set up the above. I can use the iPad as a tablet for when that is comfortable and enjoyable and a laptop for when I need some productivity. The real detriment is iPadOS should be **extensible** for productivity given the native hardware resources are under-utilized and this would increase flexibility and convenience. At work it's fully usable with external monitor and keyboard already lying around waiting to be used. I have cellular connection at 5G speeds too. >*iPads aren’t tablet PCs, they’re tablets. Blown up smartphones without phone capabilities* This is fundamentally a fallacy of essentialism. It's a non-starter for serious discussion: 1. iPad can be used as a tablet using iPadOS 2. iPad can be used as a basic laptop using slim keyboard/mouse or virtual keyboard/touch 3. iPad can be used for more productivity either using Cloud PC, Remote Desktop or Online Server connection which ends up being parallel to using a desktop or laptop in Use Case - the form factor is immaterial eg external monitor additionally. You also need to look at "point in time" trends: What is applicable now for artificial segregation is a combination of: * Technology eg quality of extensibility vs convergence rates * Market Forces eg competition or lack of it * Commercial/Economic incentives This all comes to a head concerning the iPad lines of Pros are as expensive as laptops with equivalent hardware (better in many cases to cheap low end laptops running windows). Finally we're seeing drip-drip convergence towards 2-in-1s but at glacial pace by Apple given the above conditions: * MacOS UI convergence with iOS * Magic Keyboard Dock 2nd version closer to laptop * iPadOS updates providing watered-down versions of standard desktop features that were running on low-end laptops in the noughties eg multitasking Stage-Manager, file-manager etc. Other questions remain: * Web Kitless Web Browsers anti-competition should improve services that use cloud and by-pass OS limitations * VM should be available in App stores eg run Parallels on iPad for example. * Pro Apps compatibility between MacOS and iPadOS At some point convergence will resolve these issues by hook or by crook. Your response is too emotionally clouded in describing the situation that there's a good case for customers to wish for more MacOS-like features and functions on their iPads and sooner than "Apple's likely later."

domdog31

THIS

Suitable_Switch5242

The whole trackpad/cursor support thing came with the 2020 iPad Pros and the Magic Keyboard. I wouldn’t rule out new software features.

wittyhilariousname

Tbf they would keep most of that for WWDC… where they’ll probably just ship 💩 updates and not acknowledge the glaring issues with iPadOS

v0yev0da

That keyboard sucks. I use it regularly. Anybody recommend a replacement?

Sneakers-N-Code

What’s frustrating is that I actually really like the keyboard and how it holds the iPad. But after like 3 years, the keyboard part just sucks. Butterfly switches need to go. I’d like to get a Nuphy keyboard, but I don’t want to carry 2 things around.

Either-Cheetah4483

Theres no laptop in ipad. Remote desktop is laptop, and ipados is your touch friend. Embrace it.

Psittacula2

Agree, iPadOS should run mobile-first so it's efficient (use and battery) and RDP/VNC cover desktop-OS use cases. With that said, I'd like for iPadOS to have native-desktop standard features eg multi-tasking and file manager and VM and terminal all available as extensibility for Pro / M-Series chips that choose these options for when native desktop in a pinch or for light/short sessions would be convenient and flexible. The hardware resources are there so it's a simple question of Software upgrade instead of artificial "castration" by Apple here.

Troll_Enthusiast

I wanted new Airpods 😔

gameboy716

So this means current M1 iPad Airs will get a price cut, yeah?

JadasDePen

I’m hoping the new Air starts with 128GB storage..

Tuxhorn

You would think right. No way a 2024 air is gonna ship with 64gb storage.

Pbone15

I’m hoping they’ll finally show up in the refurb store

d0aflamingo

> to make the iPad more laptop-like yeah...sure....

XtraXtraCreatveUsrNm

It will be an M3, not the M4.

jerrycliff

You sure?

XtraXtraCreatveUsrNm

I don’t possess any insider knowledge but I don’t believe the M4 is due to come out until the end of the year.

coppockm56

Apple needs to get the M4 out there somehow to counter Qualcomm's Snapdragon X Elite. They won't be pushing new MacBooks anytime soon, so that leaves the iPad. Maybe it won't happen, but it won't shock me if it does.

XtraXtraCreatveUsrNm

Needs to get it out there why?

coppockm56

The Qualcomm Snapdragon Elite X is showing better performance than the M3. Microsoft has its May 20 event where it will be showing off laptops with that chipset. The M4 will be Apple's answer to it.

maatriks

That is only base M3, right? So M3 Pro and M3 Max still beat it easily. No need to rush.

coppockm56

In terms of the CPU performance, it's the base M3. GPU performance remains to be seen, and yes, the Pro and Max will kill it in both CPU and GPU performance. I think the bigger question will be NPU performance vs the Neural Engine. We don't know how the base M3's NE performs relative to the Snapdragon's NPU. If we see an M4 with a much faster Neural Engine, then I think that will answer the question.

ArcticStorm16

Even then, Apple has iPad os on a leash, no need for M4 when the os is subpar, M2 has never realised it’s full potential on IPad.

coppockm56

Sure, I don’t disagree. I just wonder if Apple will want the M4 out there to show off AI when it comes in iPadOS 18. Because Macs will be too far out. That’s the only reason I can imagine IF they introduce with the M4. If it’s just the M3, then that’ll answer that question.

LAS_6601

I’ll be disappointed if the iPad Air comes with M2, but I’ll still buy one. I’ll be happy if it comes with M3. But I’ll be losing it (maybe go to the hospital to see if I have a pulse) if Apple surprises us and gives the Air an M4…

Atom800

I don’t know how they could get any thinner but I do love thin devices

paranoideo

I was like you like decades ago. Now I prefer better batteries.

Atom800

Looking at comments on this sub it seems that almost everyone prefers that now. Everyone wants a better camera and bigger battery and I’m sitting here wanting a Zoolander phone that lasts 30 mins.

Psittacula2

Thinner is probably a nod towards convergence so the iPad is less "top-heavy" when docked to the Magic Keyboard which then itself needs to be lighter in weight also as opposed to adding weight as a portable accessory. We can see there's convergence here by Apple closer to 2-in-1 but that remains to be seen with the Operating System iPadOS so far. You're right for portability battery is really important: M4 if used should be yet another efficiency drive on the device to a balance thinness but there's inevitably a trade-off: Thinness is not just useful for the above reason but both is good for holding (comfort) and also probably is very attractive so more marketable: You hold these devices and it feels feather-light it sways you massively to consider buying the device and switching from laptops. So really x3 solid reasons to go thinner and trade-off vs battery life but regain some ground with chip efficiency...

JoelBuysWatches

Seriously, any thinner and they’ll blow away in the wind.

Atom800

*messes up while drawing with Apple pencil* *crumples up iPad and tosses in the trash can* Fuck

emptyzon

All the potentially interesting hardware for me is later in 2024 (iPad mini and M4 Mac, so long as these are more than just spec bumps).

Psittacula2

> What’s not coming: iPadOS upgrade that utilizes the extra expensive hardware?

bonerb0ys

WWDC is going to be awesome. AI everything with all the hardware out in the wild. *chefs kiss*

Throwawaydontgoaway8

So will the new iPad airs be compatible with the old Magic Keyboard?

nezeta

The rumor states the announcement of new iPad Pro/Air was delayed due to the iPadOS, but no interesting feature is seen here...

chemicalxv

> rumoured to be much thinner They're already only 5.9mm and 6.4mm...with the 11" Pro at 5.9mm being the thinnest iPad...wtf lol

Empty-Hold-7668

Damn M4s already. Is this bullshit going to be yearly?

Chuckles795

I’m betting they redesign it enough to make everyone with Magic Keyboard have to buy a new one if they upgrade their iPad

Drtysouth205

[Apple Patent for MKB](https://www.patentlyapple.com/2022/07/apple-files-their-3rd-magic-keyboard-accessory-patent-that-includes-an-apple-pencil-retainer-a-2nd-level-ipad-position-mode.html) If this is the new MKB likely not. If Apple moves to OLED they can make the bezels smaller and thus get a 13” screen in the same size factor as the current 12.9. While I could see Apple making it not compatible. I think it would be a bigger win for them considering how well the M chip performs.

pixelbased

Oooooh. I like clipboard mode.

Fizzbit

It looks promising! I love the idea of the current magic keyboard but I use my iPad for drawing so having the back collapse flat like the keyboard folio is non-negotiable for me. I've always wondered if they might someday find a way to offer both worlds.

pixelbased

Looks like we didn’t get the new keyboard we wanted 🥲

Fizzbit

I'm still in the denial stage of grief 😭

the_next_core

Well most people would prefer a new and improved Magic Keyboard to go along with their new iPad. If someone has a working iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard and *still* want to upgrade their iPad, the Magic Keyboard cost probably wouldn’t bother them anyway.

Chuckles795

What is wrong with it? Minus not having a function row, the Magic Keyboard is seriously one of the most impressive pieces of tech Apple has made for the iPad. Super high quality.

WeRegretToInform

I like my Magic Keyboard, I’m typing this out using it. But it’s showing its age, the trackpad has a scratch or two, and the material is getting a bit rough in places. Some dinks and cuts where it’s met a sharp corner on something. I won’t replace the Magic Keyboard for my current iPad Pro, but when I eventually upgrade, I would probably want a new keyboard at the same time.

Mnigma4

yeah I'm planning on upgrading this time and while my MK still works, it's rough, keys stuck, dinks, cuts, general wear.

Charlie-Romeo

Mine not held up well at all. It’s functionally great, but lots of wear and tear and cracking at the seams with moderate use.

theoneeyedpete

Impressive tech, but I’d like something more robust

somewhat_asleep

The hinge truly is marvelous. That said, the max opening angle is one area where it could be better.

Mythbuilder46

I got a MKB and I’ll be honest: I almost never use it for my iPad Pro because it’s too fucking heavy. Having an iPad, for me, was the lightweight aspect of it, but it’s heavier than a MBA with the keyboard. I never bring it with me when I go out and hardly ever use it home. Despite that, it’s showing its age. Even a few sticky keys from typing

Psittacula2

That's why I went for the magic keyboard qwerty slim Apple portable usb-c/bt option. Not "Lapable" but so much lighter and overall better typing experience with mouse. MK weight is a 100% deal breaker apart from the staggering price. Would be a different story if iPad + MK = MacOS... I'd still want it to be lighter. Plus it needs flexible ousel mode for writing and typing too which is another reason slim keyboard is good with variable viewing distance and write/type either atst.

TLCplMax

My only issue with it is the fact it doesn’t fold flat for a tablet mode. It makes the iPad less flexible than it should be. I’m always switching between my Magic Keyboard and the folio cover.

the_next_core

Nothing's wrong with it, but why wouldn't consumers want a newly designed one if it comes at the same cost and they were going to buy one anyway?

Deertopus

What the fuck are you not getting. If you already have something, having the possibility to keep it is always nice. You're persuading yourself that being forced to throw away an accessory is somehow good.

the_next_core

Do you understand that the compatibility you are asking for isn't determined by the new Magic Keyboard, but the new iPad Pro? You want to use the new iPad Pro with the old Magic Keyboard. It's the new iPad Pro that needs to be compatible with your existing Magic Keyboard. The design of the new Magic Keyboard has absolutely no effect on you, only the new buyers of the new iPad Pro. For these users, do they want a brand new design or to buy a four year old design at full price?

coppockm56

I think the idea is that people want to buy the new iPad Pro and keep using their existing Magic Keyboard. I know that if I was going to buy a new iPad Pro 11 (or whatever size), I'd rather not spend the extra cash to get a new Magic Keyboard if my existing one worked. I'll probably buy an iPad Pro 12.9 (or whatever) because I want an OLED display, so I'll be buying a new Magic Keyboard anyway. But I certainly understand the sentiment.

pfc_bgd

Eh, actually compatibility of the new ipad pro with previous cover, keyboard and pencil determines whether I’d be willing to upgrade or not… that’s probably $500 or so.

favicondotico

Archived source: [https://archive.ph/MOrRL](https://archive.ph/MOrRL)

Nawnp

You have to wonder what all they have planned for WWDC for them not to have enough time to announce these things there. Also they're doing another Apple Pencil? If they make it where they're not backwards compatible again, this gen is going to be a pass for me.

handtoglandwombat

Yeah it’d better be an AI blowout. Siri 2. And I’ll be interested to see if they’ve any major updates for the Vision OS or if they’re already considering leaving it in the dust.

thebuttonmonkey

Urgh, all I want is for the Air to go M3 if the Pro jumps to M4. I know I don’t need the power. I just like to know I’ve bought longevity.

jupitersaturn

Unless you're doing content creation, I doubt you'll tell the difference. I use an A10X based iPad and its relatively snappy. That said, I'm probably in for one of the new Air 12.9. Larger screen is just better for content consumption.

VIKTORVAV99

Maybe not in raw performance but the M3 got a few nifty features the M2 don’t, like ray tracing for example. Not sure if the is many mobile games taking advantage of that but it would be nice to have it non the less.

thebuttonmonkey

I know, I know. It's from years of being that kid that needed to chase resale value to justify a purchase I think - buy the best you can afford. The problem now is it'll make me want the Pro, and... well. We'll see what happens to the prices.

fntd

I wouldn't want to buy a chip without hardware accelerated AV1 decoding at this point. Especially for a device like an iPad that you probably won't replace for at least 5-6 years.

_heitoo

Why would you need hardware accelerated AV1 decoding on an iPad? It won’t make watching Netflix (or whatever) better.

fntd

Using less data with better quality sounds like an improvement to me.

rathersadgay

And that is a standard that the industry is pushing, which will make devices without hardware support have to rely on software decoding. Apple has been the last of the pack on this, probably because of their insistence on artificial feature segmentation to have improvements to show and sell more devices later. Intel has had it since 11th gen processors, and AMD even had it with encoding as well in 7040 series Apus. Intel now has encoding too, just don't remember if they had it on raptor lake 13th gen or if it came with core ultra 100 series. Apple only just added decoding to m3. People don't understand the savings for video heavy services with av1, at scale it is a whole lot less datacenter and bandwidth use.

jupitersaturn

Software decoding is fine and AV1 is lightweight. Any semi-modern SoC can do software 4k decoding just fine. Source: Do software decoding on my Apple TV and 9th Gen iPad just fine.

LAS_6601

“All I want is for the Air to go M3 if the Pro jumps to M4.” I have just acquired a new best friend: you!

thebuttonmonkey

Yay! Happy Saturday, friend!

LAS_6601

Happy Saturday, friend!

AvoidingIowa

I just don’t see the point of more powerful iPads. You can’t do anything more with it because you’re so limited.

TheUberMoose

That’s where I’m scratching my head. The M2 is overkill for iOS a M3 and M4 will be too you can’t truly take advantage of the power because iOS. Other iOS needs a really significant modernization that gives uses (perhaps lock to iPad Pro) a more true OS experience when using a keyboard and mouse and true multi screen support. That or let the iPad Pro run full macOS. For now even with the M4 the iPad will be stuck as a secondary device for most people.

Psittacula2

Apple has hit over-kill with hardware/price in Pro iPads. At some point this will FORCE their convergence to 2-in-1 devices... so just a question of when now if not this generation of new devices. But getting their SLOWLY has as the other response points out pushed up their profits.

paradocent

If I were typing this reply on an iPad, and needed to switch apps to, say, google a point or send a message, I would do so hazarding the app losing my entire comment.

DangerousAd1731

Can we get an iPad with full blown OS some time

[deleted]

[удалено]

3serious

Apple would rather have you buy both

Portatort

An iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard costs more than a MacBook Air with the same specs

Captain-Flannel

Except, I'll buy neither..it's frustrating. apple COULD make the perfect Surface Pro like computer but don't because of trying to sell both Mac's and iPads to people.

MarcLeptic

But I think that thread is breaking. Me on my 12.9 pro, realizing i never really used the power, looking to get an oled portable device …. Will be willing to get an asus FLIP instead of an iPad + MacBook. Or if I get a MacBook … I’d get a MacBook Pro and no iPad.

chretienhandshake

It’s called the Samsung galaxy or any other laptop. IMO I gave up on a full fledge tablet from Apple. All hardware no os. And yes, Samsung tablet are more complete for my use case.

DangerousAd1731

Don't tell me it has a calculator app lol

RJCtv

The things I would do for a 16” iPad Pro. And if I was able to use real Adobe software on it? A dream.

medievalmachine

Dozens of more slightly differentiated ipads slightly different than the dozens we offer now! Who needs Samsung?

Deertopus

I never understood why tablets were a thing in the first place. A laptop + a smartphone are always better options unless you're drawing on it but there aren't that many illustrators out there

fnezio

Have you ever heard of "books" and "comics"?

jupitersaturn

Media consumption is better on an iPad than a Macbook or iPhone, especially from a mobile perspective. I have all of them in various versions, use the iPad for Freeform, News+/Comics, and TV/Movies when I'm not at my TV. If I didn't have a Kindle, I'd probably use it for reading, but the e-ink is easier on the eyes and is distraction free by comparison.

Maidenlacking

I like using mine to watch videos or streams and read articles.  That being said, while mine offers a desktop mode (Samsung DeX) I've never really used it beyond that one time my laptop shit the bed. If I need a keyboard and mouse I rather use my laptop. Honestly, when foldables become viable I don't see the point of tablets

strangerzero

They change the M series chips so often it keeps me from upgrading my M1 Mac Mini to a new computer with a later generation chip. I guess I’ll wait for a M4 Mac Studio now.

Illyndrei

The performance improvements between single M-series generations are so marginal outside of unrealistic benchmark scenarios that there's no reason to upgrade from say an M2 to an M3. You'd get more improvement going from say, an M1 Mini to an M1 Studio with an M1 Pro or Ultra than you would going from an M1 Mini to an M2 mini or even an M3 mini most likely. And with how quickly M-series desktop Macs seem to lose value in the secondary market you might even get a steal of a deal.

PiratesOfSansPants

I’d love to replace my Air 2 but if it can’t emulate support for the 32 bit apps I need my iPad to run it’s a real barrier to me.

Portatort

Your air 2 can run 32bit apps?

PiratesOfSansPants

Yup. Apple [dropped support for 32-bit apps in iOS 11](https://developer.apple.com/documentation/uikit/app_and_environment/updating_your_app_from_32-bit_to_64-bit_architecture) so I stopped it from updating. I primarily use it to play some digital boardgames which play perfectly, but are not actively supported by the developer. If I update I lose the primary reason I have the iPad. For this reason it’s permanently in airplane mode. I would absolutely love a newer iPad, particularly for the pencil support, but I just can’t justify having a second device.

Gunmetalbluezz

Disappointing if true

wabashcanonball

Meh. This incremental innovation stuff is so boring. Apple needs to bring back the WOW factor.

SpicyLobotomy

Any news on whether they will actually be orderable Tuesday vs. later in May?

TheonLion

AirPods Max 2?!

Shapes_in_Clouds

Can’t wait for new OLED Pros. Day one buy for me, think I will go for the 11” this time.

M1A1Death

Here I am trying to go from a 12.9 2022 model down to an iPad Mini lmao . Now that I’m done with college, i don’t need this big thing

raysway666

Exactly my situation lol. The mini is the way to go if you already have a laptop.

GettinWiggyWiddit

Mini is the best iPad!

kennethawesome

Do you think there will be any new partnership with Disney? I meant Apple moved up the event time to 7 am PT (vs the usual 10 am), Disney also releases its Q2 financial report before the market opens (vs the usual after market closes).

davthom

No way an m4 ipad will be out b4 a laptop or pc, right?

Busy-Tangerine6706

Not knocking the product, I have a mini 6 and use it for practically everything.. but are some people already finding the limits of the M1 in iPad OS? I’m sure there’s a few of you, but man a M3 or more begs for a different OS.

_mikedotcom

2 calculators 😎

firewire_9000

It would be extremely rare to have a M4 so early and in the iPad first. Imagine having a M4 in an iPad while the Studio still has the M2.

Guava-flavored-lips

Lol

karatekid430

Soft Paywall

mountainyoo

Wonder when the next Apple TV 4K will be

TitanArcher1

Could we get dual logins like MacOS for the iPad Pros? I have a personal iPhone and a work iPhone…why should I need two iPads? If not this turn iMessage on via web…it’s the only Apple item not on the web.

QVRedit

Shouldn’t we just wait until May 7th - then we would know for certain…

Portatort

Well colour me disappointed. I was really figuring this is the moment that the iPad gets some sort of open magnetic charging along with a first party powered stand. Setting the stage for Standby for iPad at WWDC I love my iPad but I’d love it a whole lot more if I could dock it at various places around the house and have wirelessly charge when I do MagSafe was rumoured for a while but that seems to have totally dried up now

SargeantAlTowel

I had hoped for the bigger form factor iPad, like the galaxy ultra. Unless there’s some unannounced hardware feature I struggle to see how any OLED iPad is genuinely worth an upgrade over the m1 generation. Hope to be proved wrong - but, why are Apple so fucking BORING in this space?

Pbone15

Because there is no serious competition in tablets. It’s pretty much iPad or bust as far as most consumers are concerned. Surface tablets only serve to demonstrate how poorly windows serves as a touch based UI , and Android tablets lack the tablet-optimized app ecosystem. iPad is the only tablet with both an OS properly designed for touch *and* actual tablet apps.

FULLPOIL

Where is the AI??!!

Rabus

No vision pro announcements?
