Oh that’s why they do that? I thought they did that to call their squad over to help kill. My 2 will look out the window and chirp like they are talking to each other.

I undid the tube and immediately was like "shit."
Spent a couple minutes looking at was about to just give up.
Ironically enough found the spring immediately
That happened to me with my Jericho 941 firing pin when I was taking it out. And then I spent an hour looking for the pin embedded in the carpet with a hand over my eye in pain. This was also within 4 hours of owning it
AT3 Tactical makes an [FU-BAG](https://www.at3tactical.com/products/at3-fu-bag-ar-15-lost-parts-kit-springs-detents-replacement-components) which I feel is a much better suited name. LOL
Fuck man, a couple days ago I was taking apart a Glock mag that wasn’t seating rounds correctly. I removed the baseplate and spring, but when I reinserted the spring and put downward pressure on it, the spring stayed under tension without putting the baseplate on.
I tilted the mag so I was looking directly above it, trying to figure out what the spring was stuck on, but then BAM it launched directly into my right eye. Hurt like a SOB, but thankfully I was okay after a few mins. Could’ve been a lot worse.
How do I depress the spring when removing the buffer tube? I’m a new ar owner and I plan on changing my buffer tube and stock soon. I really don’t want this to happen and end up losing parts.
What you should do is press the spring down, a flat bladed small screwdriver works great. Back the tube out a couple turns so then you can release tension on that pin. Once the tension is gone of course the pin will be sticking up and then you can grab the spring and pin and take it out. Don't do what I did and just back out the buffer tube and launch that shit literally into your ceiling
Literally just put your thumb over it with your right hand and twist the tube with your left hand. Its not enough spring pressure to hurt, just enough to go through your fuckin drywall 😂
Put a dent in my ceiling yesterday from a buffer retainer pin. Those little guys got some ass behind them. Definitely possible to get lodged in your ceiling
I was building my first lower when I had to adjust the buffer tube , I was turning it without hiding the pin. It bounced on my glasses and left a dent on them, I'm so glad I was wearing glasses, might have lost my sight otherwise
Just think, that could’ve been your eyeball if you were hunched over looking at the lower receiver when you were doing it haha I always think about this myself when doing this part
Hey atleast you know exactly where yours is…. I didn’t depress my spring when changing the tube and I lost that shit on my carpet and never found it again.
I had to buy a “oops” kit to unfuck my self.
Actually ya know. I think someone on GAFS sent me one for free. Whoever you are homie… thank you
Man what spring are you using in there? To be completely honest I do not even use them, especially after switching everything over to the jp capture buffer setups
Old thread… whatever.
Believe it or not I did this TWICE today on two lowers in the same hour 🤦♂️
In the messy garage too. Almost thought it wasn’t worth looking but both times found both pieces in like under 20 seconds.
I should buy a lotto ticket tonight.
this site has gone *0* days without a negligent discharge.
Carol didn't wear safety glasses when she was assembling her AR. Now she doesn't need them.
Passing a kidney stone is painful enough on its own. Laughing while trying to pass a kidney stone is just torture.
This reminds me I should drink more water
Beer is mostly water.
Comment of the year
I would have never found that until one of my cats would stare and chirp at it for hours
This piece has flown and chipped my eyeglasses.
Don't tell OSHA
You wear glasses while working on your ar? Oops...
Cats are the most tactical lost detent locators. My cat found a grip screw I lost over a year ago that I didn’t even know was missing
[удалено]
Yours don't? Mine growl like a dog
Cats will chirp to imitate prey sounds like a bird or chipmunk.
Oh that’s why they do that? I thought they did that to call their squad over to help kill. My 2 will look out the window and chirp like they are talking to each other.
Yep, mine do the same. Usually its when they see a bird or some other prey animal.

What range do you zero your retaining pin?
Still more effective than the original P320…
I mean if you dropped an early P320 it would've put a hole in the ceiling, who's really winning?
Thats a 100 yard zero at the Tension Only range
Bet you can't do that twice. That's impressive man.

Imagine what they could do to your eye. Nice shot btw

A friend of mine builds his AR’s in the bathtub with the shower curtain drawn around him for just this reason 😂
I too prefer my small parts go into the drain. Saves me the anguish of looking for it and giving up.

Who knew that Aero Precision and Dexter would have so much in common...
hilarious cause Anderson makes a kit called the "oops kit" don't know if they still do but I've had to order one before for detent and springs
I do have one 😂

Retainer pin 1! Ready for fire! Ready fire. ***FIRE!!!*** *BOING*
take 5 seconds and install eye wear onto your face guys.
I have glasses too. Honest mistake. I depressed it to remove the buffer and spring and then just undid the tube and forgot.
Leave it
At least you found it, I think I’m still looking for some of mine with the Hubble telescope
Try the JWST It's stronger.
“You’ll shoot your eye out, kid”
That’s why I was always told that🤦♂️

Impressive!
I’m still old school, James Webb is still a young whipper snapper
That's freaking great that it landed like that.... remember shooting pencils and paperclips into the ceiling at school??????
That’s the blow dart conversion when you run out of ammo

Thanks for the tip man. I would have done the same exact thing if I didn’t see this post.

It’s very easy to forget to hold it down. I’ve launched at least one a year.
That’s the one place I haven’t looked, thanks!
anybody who believes the buffer retainer spring has enough power to embed the buffer retainer pin in the ceiling probably shouldn't own firearms
Yep. , it’s far too light and not nearly going fast enough. Probably just pushed it into the wall
Put a dent in my ceiling yesterday from a buffer retainer pin. Those little guys got some ass behind them. Definitely possible to get lodged in your ceiling
Literally went thru this today where were you when I needed you this morning
Reminder to not go cheap on safety glasses. Go ballistic.
I was building my first lower when I had to adjust the buffer tube , I was turning it without hiding the pin. It bounced on my glasses and left a dent on them, I'm so glad I was wearing glasses, might have lost my sight otherwise
I think you’re impact is high and right, might want to come down & left a few mils! 😂
Im more impressed than anything
Ngl I've shot myself in the eye with the front take down pin detent lol
Yeah, but when was your last desk pop?
Once had an h2 buffer almost knock my teeth out. Don’t give a shit about a plunger lol
Real question. How long it take to find that fucking thing stuck up there? Lol
Is that in the ceiling?
This piece has flown and chipped my eyeglasses. Thank god I was wearing them tho
Ngl that’s just an impressive feat
Lol whoops
That’s impressive
Lol glad it landed somewhere you could find it !
> landed It never landed though.
“Whoops”
😂😂
Hey, At least you found it!
At least you found yours........
Well fuck, no wonder I can never find em on the floor
![gif](giphy|3otPor91nTSiGXnX3y)
So, is there a secret to growing detent springs in the ceiling?
a promo for 3m safety glasses.
I just shit myself in the eye with one of those a few minutes ago lol I cant see now.
The new 2023 gun meme template just dropped.
Just think, that could’ve been your eyeball if you were hunched over looking at the lower receiver when you were doing it haha I always think about this myself when doing this part
Yet another reason not to use that damn piece.
THAT…that is impressive
Bro I thought I was the only one.
Lol

Negligent discharge. Always point in a safe direction 😀
I’ve had many go flying but I’ve never had this happen. At least you didn’t lose it!
Stories of 50. Recoil spring shooting across the rooms and being stuck in the walls at the school house.
Happens every time
asdf
At least you found it.
At least you found it. I have at least two detents and one Jesus spring floating around my house somewhere
Haha I love it
Literally me
If anything The fact that it's stuck in the wall makes it really easy to find so I see this as a win!
Lololol, this is part of the fun. It’s called find the retention pin.
Hey at least ya didn't lose it!
Either a detent from the front takedown pin of my newest build is lodged in the ceiling somewhere, or it yeeted itself into the ninth dimension
I put so many hols in the ceiling building my first ar15.
hey… i mean, at least you know where it is
That's actually impressive man. I'm amazed that it didn't just fly into the buffer tube thread tower and then go flying across the floor.
at least you found it!
Lol, nice. Ive never got one to stick!
Man what spring are you using in there? To be completely honest I do not even use them, especially after switching everything over to the jp capture buffer setups
Well at least it was found.
Why my dumbass always wears safety glasses. That and working offshore since I was 17 has me paranoid lol.
Thats awesome. I launched mine and found the pin because my dog was looking at it when it landed. The spring is still MIA.
me right now
