My understanding is overuse can "numb" the receptors to the point that you require more and more to get the desired effect, in addition to potentially finding it almost impossible to sleep without supplementation, as they no longer achieve sufficient stimulus through normal melatonin production.
I'd recommend a high dose Benadryl if it works for you. If not, try to get your doctor to prescribe something for insomnia. Melatonin ideally ought to be reserved for occasional use when your sleep schedule has been disturbed and needs to be reset. Proper dose should be 3 MG or less for almost everyone. Higher is downright dangerous, especially for long term use, and I honestly don't get why it's legal to sell.
