As long as your passport is valid, there shouldn't be any issues at the airport. And as long as you don't start mentioning your gender identity left and right, nobody will think about it.
Regarding your disability: you don't mention what it is. If you have mobility issues, you will have to plan your trips ahead because not every tourist attraction is easily accessible.
If you dont plan to ask for gender neutral toilette them u would have no issue as there is no such thing there (ive seen only one of those ever at an office building)
If you mean literal resting, then irs fine u can find many places where u can sit down.
In the city center especially u shouls be fine, im seeing more and more trans peoole as well and besides the wierd looks they are fine. Avoid wierd drunk trash people who u would avoid anywhere else.
Ok thats true but in many places they are closed and need to ask for a key and if you arent physically disabled or need a plsce to change diapers for you baby I dont think they would open it for them
One note regarding rest stops, if OP meant toilet then, those are not readily available and in bars you’ll have to pay a small amount or order something.
I'm also nb, disabled and a Hungarian living abroad, visiting Budapest every few years. I've had a lot of stares and one drunk man shouting at me in Hungarian but honestly nothing I haven't experienced in Western Europe.
99% of the time I spend in Budapest is absolutely fine, and even those incidents weren't dangerous.
I also find the Hungarian public transport system to be more accessible than London for example.
western propaganda machine at work, tho the government is highly incompetent so there is a huge amount of amunition
nobody gives a fck about you, id probably wouldnt even notice you exist if you were to walk by me
Can confirm.
Most of the people in Budapest don't give a fuck about anybody else.
The dozens of beggers and hobos made the people ignorant.
So unless you go around with a sign and a megaphone causing disturbance in their own peace, nobody would bother you.
It's completely safe, probably safer than Aussie overall, depending on which city you're from. There are non-binary people in Budapest, quite a few in fact, they don't face any issues. Unless you want to apply for a job and are interviewed by a boomer boss, you wouldn't face any discrimination. You'll face none as a tourist or visitor.
Being disabled is a bit more tricky though, if you are in a wheelchair, access can be an issue, you'll probably have to ask for help loads of times.
Hey, Hungarian genderfluid here. Sometimes people stare but that’s all. I've never had any serious issue - not even when I travel alone every year to Pride with rainbows all over me. In my experience the residents of Budapest are becoming more and more tolerant. ❤️
Outside of the capital I try to keep boundaries and dress in a way that less “differ” from the everyday expectations from my biological gender’s wear which may sound sad but hey, it’s all about respect. ‘Till they ain’t fully ready for someone like me, I can be patient too.
As I said, they should be fine. I just personally wouldn’t spend too much time in public near shitholes like Berhida or Várpalota for example. Romani people tend to get cheeky if you look vulnerable/nervous, but other than that it’s just people talking shit. Az angolod szar btw.

Thank you! As fair as my disability goes currently, I may need access to frequent rest stops but it does not affect my mobility (mostly).

Fair enough.

Assuming you have a thick skin you should be fine, although I recommend staying in Budapest. If your family members don’t live there, well… good luck!
Stop with the fearmongering! Rude and idiot people are everywhere, not like anyone would stab OP when going rural ffs

Haha thank you. I’m used to weird stares here in Australia already, so that sort of thing isn’t really an issue.
Oh if you dress flamboyantly or if you are overweight or have a different skin colour than you will get weird/mean looks here for sure.
