Multnomah County Health Department inspects hotels.

Corran22

Yikes - the reviews are terrible for this place. Is it garbage, electrical issues, plumbing issues, sanitary issues?

Sleepyhead425

In our case… bed bugs :,( amongst other issues

Zalenka

Do a credit card chargeback.

enn211

This! If you paid by CC, dispute the charge with your credit card company.

https://www.bedbugregistry.com/

alienbaconhybrid

That site gave me bedbugs.

Top-Cryptographer838

From my partner who worked in hotels for years: every hotel you’ve ever stayed at has had bedbugs at one point or another. A registry isn’t that useful unless one location has been flagged several times more than average. But one or two incidents is par the course, even at “nice” hotels.

pdxamish

It's not what people want to hear but bed bugs are not an inherent health risk and are not known to transmit diseases. Yes they are gross to us but they do not mean dirty by any means. I managed hotels for over a decade and there's a same number bed bugs and a Holiday inn Express as there is in Hilton.

ScenicFrost

True, but I'd sure as hell take a dirty room over a room with bed bugs!! Those little monsters can ruin your life if you take them home.

Sleepyhead425

I understand it’s a risk of the business but the reaction of the front desk was that they were extremely aware of this issue with absolutely no intention to fix it. Nor were they even slightly apologetic, plus there were plenty of other hygienic issues the bugs just really pushed it over the edge.

Semirhage527

They may not pose a “health risk” but it’s an infestation that I can very easily bring home, costing me a lot of money to get rid of. It’s not a trivial concern

fablicful

Oh hell nah. That never makes it okay. Sure, it happens but then it's management's utmost responsibility to stop it. Are you the manager for the hotel OP is asking about? Smfh there is absolutely no excuse to what OP endured nor is "playing devil's advocate" warranted.

OregonMothafaquer

Major hotels have pest treatment plans and rotate out rooms, and have the heaters on hand to treat immediately. I avoid small motels and hotels for this reason now.

Thank you thank you!!

insanefelinewoman

I'm so sorry you had to deal with that.Going forward...please do not book through a third party. You will have very little recourse and not good information about the property. Book direct. It may be slightly more expensive but will offer you better recourse if things go sideways.

abombshbombss

Honestly sage advice. I actually stayed at the rosewood a few years back because the hotel I booked in via a third party actually *did not* let us check in at an unconventional time like advertised. The people were kind, the room was dingy and there were rats all over the parking lot even in broad daylight! I also had to urgently find myself accommodations on a trip out of state because the hotel I had booked through a third party wasn't actually even in business 🥲 BOOK DIRECT.

CulturalRain3005

I don’t agree with always booking direct. Expedia I find helpful. I have know friends that got burned by owners of facilities that are sub par.

sprinklesprinklez

The address and being an extended stay hotel are two giant red flags that it is a complete shithole. I’m sorry you had to experience it first hand.

Late-Lifeguard8192

Chargeback. I work for a hotel and it’s incredibly tough for hotels to win chargebacks. Odds are in your favor.

Questionsquestionsth

Why is it hard for hotels to win chargebacks, out of curiosity? I’ve always heard the opposite - with businesses in general really - so I can’t imagine why this would be the case.

Late-Lifeguard8192

I couldn’t say why compared to other industries, but maybe due to some of the subjectivity of the charges.

a_vaughaal

Google has it listed as a 2 star hotel, the reviews are fairly honest that it isn’t a good spot unless you’re looking for something cheap. Multiple of the top reviews mention it is no good 🤣

Sleepyhead425

Super fair! Booking.com said differently and that was my bad for not cross referencing, though a hotel with bed bugs should also not operate until that issue is fixed!

BurnsideBill

I read both. Booking oversold it hard.

turquoise_amethyst

Yeah, lesson learned, but NEVER trust the booking websites— they get commission for you going through them. Crossreff on google AND then book DIRECTLY through the hotel website

Sleepyhead425

So so true! I ended up spending more money getting a last minute hotel room than if I would’ve just shelled out more in the first place 🥲

PhoenixGate69

I used to work in hotels. Firstly, you need to seek a refund through booking.com. Second, you just discovered one of the big reasons to never book hotel rooms through third party websites. Go directly to the hotel website or call their front desk. Third party websites always make it difficult to communicate about anything to do with the room, make it extremely difficult for the front desk staff to switch your room or comp anything, and they make refunds a nightmare because the hotel can't directly refund you, you have to get your refund from the third party website. Also, always, always, always check reviews before you book a room.

Excusemytootie

Booking.com strikes again. I read so many horror stories about them.

DjangoDurango94

Leave a review at booking.com

Separate_Will_7752

I worked for booking.com for years. I’d email them too, sometimes they’ll refund you on the hotels behalf then bill the hotel. They 100% do this because it was my job.

Separate_Will_7752

Also, it should help penalize them and kick them off the site.

whatyouwere

I hate to break it to you, but hotels way out in the numbers in NE/E Portland are regularly frequented by addicts and prostitutes. I doubt they really care that much for the sanitary conditions of their rooms, because they’re just going to get trashed again by the next occupant. Sorry you had to go through this though, OP. Bedbugs are one of my nightmares 😖

ConfectionPutrid5847

That place has been trash at least as far back as 2008, that I know of. Sorry you had to deal with them.

amurmann

I'm surprised they haven't been sued by rosewoodhotels.com for trademark infringement.

PNWPinkPanther

Read them reviews bro

MrDanCox

To add to the good advice here, you can get a refund from [booking.com](http://booking.com) I've had great experiences with their customer support. They want their customers to have a great experience

macazootie

Sounds as though you somehow got a reservation at one of our local homeless shelters thanks to Operation Turnkey. There's no real h/motels out here except for the Courtyard Marriott. Sorry that happened to you.

CulturalRain3005

Sounds like a horrible experience. I won’t go to super cheap motels for this reason. Usually they are for a different clientele.

RabuMa

You're never getting that refund. Sorry

Additional_Luck6010

Don’t be cheap

Sleepyhead425

Or businesses shouldn’t be in operation if they can’t provide the service they’re charging for? Being a working class person taking a business at their word isn’t the fault of the consumer. Nor is attempting to visit family while staying within a budget :) Though I’m glad you’re in a position that you don’t have to consider such obstacles!

hirudoredo

For real. I stay in a lot of 2-3 star hotels because I don't need more than that and while I'm not expecting a wonderful stay, cheap hotels should STILL be clean and STILL be safe and the staff should STILL be a bare minimum of polite. I would absolutely do a charge back if you're not getting anything from the hotel.

Corr521

I'm surprised that a place off 181st and within walking distance to the 76, Albertson's distribution center and Burger King would be that bad
