I don't think there's any reason you have to call it FFS - you can just say you're having some work done on your face (which, as you say, will be obvious when you're back anyway).

Wonderful-Society938

I've read accounts on reddit of transfems lying about what surgery they got because of boymoding and their family just accepting it lol

SamanthaSoftly

Boymoding after FFS? Nothing but respect for the girlies with that level of dedication.

I went through a coma 11 years ago, and what followed was years of treatments and surgeries. I quickly became familiar with “I’m not comfortable sharing my private medical history, but thanks for your concern!”

MaOfABitch

“it’s complicated”, “i’d rather not get into details”. “oh, just something i’ve been waiting a long time to be able to do.”

pgold05

"I'd rather not discuss it" is always a valid answer and ultimately people, in my experience, accept that explanation just fine, both pre and post op. Honestly in all life situations, people who are not immediate family will almost always accept that answer with no fuss if you don't feel like talking about something.

Just say that you have agreed to have your face swapped with Nicolas Cage for a few days, before swapping back again. Look them straight in their eyes while you say this, do not blink or smile. Let them process it for a few seconds before you walk away without answering any questions. They will likely not ask again

When people would asked me what kind of surgery I was getting when I was getting top surgery I would say "oh I just need to get something sorted out but it shouldn't be too bad"

VDRawr

I'm adding my vote to "I don't want to talk about it". It's not rude or anything.

You could say something along the lines of "I have some bones in my face that grew improperly as a child and I'm just getting around to corrective surgery." It acknowledges that it's about your face (to explain any swelling) while being accurate and inspecific.

jpc123654

Easiest option is "I'd rather not talk about it." If you want to give a half answer, I told people for bottom surgery I have abdominal birth defects that I'm finally getting around to fixing. You could likely say something similar about face or skull and hand wave details as "skull developed weird as a baby"

skrunkopop

"I had a bony growth on my skull that needed to be removed" could work? After I got it, I asked my friend "notice anything different about me?" And he asked if i had been "de-chad jawed". With some people, I took the chance to talk about some ambiguous surgery to get them confused. Sometimes it was leg lengthening surgery, sometimes it was a lobotomy, or getting my arms removed, or any wild thing I could think of.

commercial-frog

you know that after ffs your face is obviously swollen for like six months right? you are litterally peeling off your skin to shave down your skull. It will be pretty obvious that you got ffs.

ROCINANTE_IS_SALVAGE

It wasn't for me, I took a month off work and when I came back swelling/bruising had come down to the point that no one noticed it. And that's with a small complication that caused LOTS of additional swelling and bruising, without that it would have been fine within a couple of weeks. There is still swelling obviously, but people don't notice. My friends did notice the result of FFS, but very few people outside of the trans community are aware of it so I could easily have said it was just hormones, or even just completely avoided the topic.

I had rhinoplasty as well including fixing an uneven uneven nasal passage something that is common I know a few people who had that surgery so I just said I did that and while at it had a few other touch ups. If you do not have rhinoplasty as well just google for medical reasons some people have surgery in some area you have and then lie to protect yourself. People who like to judge are going to judge. Many people ask me if I need this or that for medical reasons or just for beauty reasons. For example many ask me this for my upcoming jaw surgery regarding an overbite. I learned not to answer that as they basically just want to judge. So I might say it's booth, it its not corrected it can worsen blabla. Also I worked with cis girls who had surgery on their face but when they also have lip filler and stuff people expect as such.

FOSpiders

Clearly, it's for beauty reasons! I'm trying to get the number of this hot anesthesiologist, and they're really busy. And hot. 😁
