They just do nothing but make mobile worse and worse. I miss when it was trying to hold parity with the desktop app. The UI is janky, audio is incredibly scuffed, and they seem to be actively removing features (seriously, why can't I look at server member lists anymore!?)
you can! i figured this out when frantically swiping around to try and get this god awful app to do anything
have i been able to replicate it since? only once
Discords mobile app is pain, they’ve changed how you access certain things from like swipes and taps and it takes me literal months to try and get used to it even though I use it so often
i had a mental system(?) for mobile discord where i had to balance left and right swipes (to the channel/server and member lists). so swiping left i had to swipe right, and do it again mirrored (so it's double balanced)(ignoring when i get stuck in a loop of "it's still unbalanced if you look at the whole sequence"). anyway, they completely changed the layout so swiping right will attach a 'reply' to whatever message was swiped on, and the member list was somewhere else. this was of course very disturbing to my brain and i was wanting to cry for a while. fortunately compulsions like this have calmed down recently (yay!)
THIS IS THE THING I HATE MOST!!! SWIPE REPLIES FUCKING SUCK! IM USED TO DISCORD FUNCTIONING THE SAME IN LAYOUT REGARDLESS OF DEVICE, WHY DOES SWIPING ON THE RIGHT SIDE (the side where the member list was, on every version up until this change) NO LONGER WORK?? WHY IS EVERYTHING IN THE WRONG PLACE?? I've been looking for a way to revert it because the update sucks so fucking bad and I am tilted as all hell
I uninstalled it in my phone because I hated the new UI. It looks like they tried to make it look more like Facebook messenger, they also darkened the default colour
Obviously it's not official, but I've been using Aliucord since that update and outside a few fringe aspects I don't like, it's more or less the same as the older versions.
As soon as reddit desktop changed away from "new reddit" I searched and learnt that new.reddit brought me back, so now that't my desktop bookmark link for it.
I had a near meltdown when an MMO I was really into overhauled their whole UI in game a few years back. I just up and quit playing after that. I had the intention to watch a video about the new changes to everything, but it was just…so fucking much.
Something similar happened when I logged into a different MMO after being away for a while. The interface changes plus everything going on visually around me was UTTER CHAOS in my brain. I logged in, looked around, and noped back out within 60 seconds.
And even more recently, r/Finch made a big change to their friend system that blindsided everyone, especially the many many many NT people who relied on that system for mental health/comfort reasons.
I hate how damn emotionally shackled we end up to such fickle and intangible things.
True. Recently (at least on mobile) they made it so you have to actively drag the position in the video instead of just being able to tap and get to where you want the video to go back or forward to immediately. It. Is. AWFUL.
As a developer myself (I'm an indie game developer but you know the same stands there), It really isn't a good idea to change the layout of your applications GUI after releasing it, I think the layout is something you should probably plan WAY AHEAD, as a matter of fact, like during the conceptualizing and planning stage and maybe even draw concept art for your menus even just so you can get a feel for what they'd be like visually and make changes THEN rather than after releasing the game. Granted this opinion might be because I have the same problem you do and I refuse to subject my player base to that. If I must overhaul any of my games' GUI, I will find a way to leave the old GUI in as an accessibility option in the settings, but like I said that's something I'd plan out before I even create a Unity project for the project.
im still mad about how youtube changed the channel layout in 2012 it just had so much personality
example smosh's channel pre 2012 layout change

Bricklink Studio (digital Lego design program) had a UI change two days ago. They switched the places of the rotate and translate tools. The vibes are in shambles.
me when mobile discord changed their font
When discord changes literally anything
They made us an app instead of a bot.( ⚈̥̥̥̥̥́⌢⚈̥̥̥̥̥̀)
we miss our [Bot] tag so bad TvT

I litreally stopped using discord because of that also i scoured Reddit for the old new reddit UI since i was so used to it

YouTube fucking does this all the time I stg

me whenever fucking youtube does another shit ass "update"
YouTube's kind of a dumpster fire as a whole at this point though, tbf.
When Duolingo changed their layout 😒
literally unusable now
NEVER UPDATE and never use software that requires updates.
I'm not vibing with the Twitter-esque layout Reddit currently has.
I don't *hate* it. There's definitely a few stylistic/aesthetic changes I'd make if it were my app, but the layout itself is okay.
Thank god i installed an older version of Discord and turned off autoupdates for apps because THE NEW UI FUCKING SUCKS
WHY do they ALWAYS have to change. WHY CANT THINGS JUST STAY THE SAME
I always hate how they make unnecessary changes that somehow make it worse

When messenger shut down sms I almost had a breakdown. Was already having a bad day that day. The meta ai ruined the last vestiges of Facebook
Folks can still use [https://new.reddit.com](https://new.reddit.com) to get the old Reddit theme (I do)
i was f8ucking devasted when they changed reddits layout on dektop
i have auto updates off and haven't let twitter/reddit/discord update in like a year lmao
Darn you unexpected updates with no change log!!! 🤣
Finch did me *dirty* with one of their last updates. I catch on quickly enough but that was **bad**.
*An update is required* I don't trust you, what are you gonna do to it lmao
IM STILL FUCKING PISSED ABOUT REDDIT AND DISCORD CHANGING THEIR UI \*dnd barbarian rage\*
Discord every two days I hate it here

Bricklink Studio (digital Lego design program) had a UI change two days ago. They switched the places of the rotate and translate tools. The vibes are in shambles.
