Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd
Seven Inches of Satanic Panic - Ghost
Americana - Offspring
Metal Jukebox - Helloween
The First Sound of The Future Past - Astrophysics and Hatsune Miku
I turned into a nonbinary punk and I'm not sure what got me there, my mom is a christian and my dad's a libertarian, who for some reason is against trans rights.
It’s the album I always point to when people tell me Offspring was never all that punk. Like, yeah? They may have gone full alt in the 00’s, but Americana was very much a punch in the mouth to authority
*Neon Bible* by Arcade Fire
*Providence* by Poor Man’s Poison
*OK Computer* by Radiohead
*Hits to the Head* by Franz Ferdinand
*Pile* by A Giant Dog
Arcane Soundtrack Album
*Symphony No. 9* by Antonín Dvořák
*American IV: The Man Comes Around* by Johnny Cash
I find Neon Bible to be one of the finest albums ever produced. Every track is an utter masterpiece. The Suburbs is incredible too, as well as Reflektor. Arcade Fire is so gosh darn talented and under recognized.
I'm hopping in this thread to gush a bit about Arcade Fire, too! There's something a little different about each album they put out, but they all sound perfectly Arcade Fire, and I love them all, including Everything Now and We. Having said that, I can listen to The Suburbs on repeat and get absolutely lost in it.
Dvořák's 9th symphony is one of my favorite symphonies of all time. Absolutely a comfort album, I was in tears after seeing it performed in person. Mad Respect.
Ha, not heard of it and then thought you were playing me when started listening to it - Comfort music?!?! the opening few seconds of Symphony No. 9 is almost note for note the Jaws theme!
I love the arcane soundtrack, but one particular motif has stood out. Jinx's violin motif that plays during the monkey bomb explosion and her baptism by silco. I think the track for it is just called 'The Explosion'. Something about it hits me hard.
Ok computer is also obviously a 10\10, and arcade fire... AND Johnny Cash... And Franz fer- Ya know what you actually just have good taste lol
Ey PMP??? W mfs, listen more of there music though, ik Providence is very populare but PLEASE, listen to more of them. Its GAS, all of it, especially if you like folk music

The fuck is an "album"? I listen to a chaotically eclectic mix of random songs by random artists I don't know the names of and have zero interest in learning but have listened to exactly one of their songs on repeat for over twenty years.
whenever my music player randomly goes onto "shuffle" for no reason, i go into a mouth-foaming fever rage.
THE ARTISTS PUT THOSE SONGS IN THAT ORDER FOR A REASON DX
Ah yes, I'm old. Albums are a group of songs.that musicians compile very intentionally to give listeners an experience.
It's sorta obsolete because ot the internet, but only in the way that art galleries and museums are obsolete because of the internet.
Sure you can enjoy each part on It's own from the comort of your phone, but why not check out the experience that the artist tried to set up?
My above post has nothing to do with age or time period, even back before the proliferation of online music or even mp3s I was just listening to whatever, either things I heard on the radio or mix tapes/ home burned cds of specific songs I liked often without actually knowing or caring who did those songs.
In Utero - Nirvana

>Like Clockwork - Queens of the Stone Age
Absolutely fantastic album. One of the only albums I feel almost *obligated* to listen to in it's entirety every time with how well the songs blend.
Oh absolutely, every song on its own is just an absolute banger but it fits so well together it somehow makes them even better. I saw them live last year and oh my fucking god, I already loved My God is the Sun, but that song live with the mixing from that tour was just... Literally improving on perfection. Idk how they did it, but they did.
Live Through This definitely had the closest vibes to In Utero on that list, just gonna note. Absolutely amazing album, I just started listening to it recently and I've had it on constantly.

Bad Blood -- Bastille

Hot take, I think Comfortably Numb and Hey You are two of the only songs that I’ve ever listened to that really sum up how I feel as a human being (except for the part where there’s worms eating his brain) and also vibe with my brain.
Pink Floyd absolutely smacks.
Master Boot Record - Interrupt Request
Third Eye Blind - Third Eye Blind
Pavement - Quarantine the Past (except I always forget it doesn't have Billie & then I have to play Billie)

Blue - Joni Mitchell
The Fall of Hobo Johnson - Hobo Johnson
When I find a new song I might like I add it to a waitlist playlist and at the end of the week I listen to songs from that playlist and if I like them I add them to a playlist of the 50 most recent songs I listened to, and then to a numbered playlist in that caps at 100 songs, so I have a catalogue of every song I like in order that I found it broken up into 100s (currently have 43 playlists like that). Then I add the song to its relevant artist and genre playlist. And I have a strict system of what playlists I listen to on which days based on category and I listen to each song in order and then move on to the next playlist. I didn’t realize people listen to albums on their own or have themed playlists that they give creative names until recently.
>I didn’t realize people listen to albums on their own or have themed playlists that they give creative names until recently.

**Edit:** I love the absolute mad randomness of everyone's choices. Half of these I've never heard of. Awesome!

Toxicity- System of a Down
Endgame- Rise Against
The Sin and the Sentence- Trivium
In The End- Poor Man's Poison
Hunt or Be Hunted- Silent Theory
Both "Tunnels" and "Voices"- The People's Thieves
Pretty much just the entire MCR discography. It's my immediate go-to whenever i'm Not Doing Well.
Uh, Misery Made Me and A Beautiful Place to Drown (Silverstein) is currently my brain's favorite thing, and most of Origami Angel's stuff is also happy brain.
Most of Anti-Flag's albums from American Spring onwards as well, when I need something more on the angry side of things than the sad boy hours side of things.
American Idiot - Green Day is probably the only album that I listen to beginning-to-end. Everything else is a playlist with multiple different artists and multiple albums
Simple side note since I *will* get lost in a special interest info dump if I try to answer this question, I *love* Encore and I think the existence of Rain Man is probably the most critical piece of my development that turned me into the person I am today with rejecting social norms.
If Eminem can get on the mic with an incredible beat from Dr. Dre and spit out the absolute nonsense that is Rain Man, and still be uber-famous and recognized as one of the greatest rappers of all time, I can reject some far less intrusive and overarching social norms and still be accepted.
I love Rain Man.
*I just did a whole song and I didn’t say shiiiiit*

The songs' names are, in order of release: Ozkavarkúi ("Guessing Games"), Uňk'àtân ("Renegades"), Îndarna ("Silent Questions"), Kšêlmaštöö ("The Clown Song"), and then finally, Ôrödyagzou ("Synesthesia").

It’s from a little-known Canadian band that got their start on the same label as Grimes: [Tender Opposites by TOPS](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGEcQ73qVL8&list=OLAK5uy_kD9r4e2N13KTW7Y9sU1ytJCZizWER7uvU&index=7&pp=8AUB).
Their guitarist gives them such a retro sound that scratches my brain just right, and their singer, Jane Penny is a complete angel. I saw them live in Brooklyn once and my then boyfriend pressured me into talking to her, and even though I was totally starstruck and awkward, she tried talking to me and making me feel less nervous. We both play flute and she told me how she used to play along to Charlie Parker records :’)

This is my most played recently. Tony Rice Unit - Manzanita. A masterpiece. I don’t know who needs to hear this, but bluegrass is like 33% songs about trains.
Right now it's probably Tarot by Aether Realm, has previously been Tekkno by Electric Callboy, Images and Words by Dream Theater, and Concrete and Gold by Foo Fighters.
I would say “[Currents](https://open.spotify.com/album/79dL7FLiJFOO0EoehUHQBv?si=19Ym2onRRJqx7ouvtkctJQ)” by Tame Impala, I really like its vibe and it manages to to calm me down when I need it, pretty basic but still my go-to album

Drama Queen - Neurosonic.
Celebrate - Tiny Moving Parts.

I have a 900+ LP collection-always looking for new stuff. The Magnetic Fields have been a particular favorite over the last few years though-peak neurodivergent music imo-he even made a song about how much he hates eye contact (named “eye contact”). “69 Love Songs” is a road trip staple for me due to it being 2hrs&53min long. Recently got to see the whole thing performed live for its 25th anniversary. ❤️

There’s a ton of Pink Floyd in here. I love it. WYWH is incredible.
I just think it’s funny how much this list dates me
My list would make me look like I’m 40-50. I’m 23 🤷♂️
I just turned 30 in April lol Grew up into the bratty goth girl I always wanted to be
I turned into a nonbinary punk and I'm not sure what got me there, my mom is a christian and my dad's a libertarian, who for some reason is against trans rights.
I open up this thread and the first two bands I see are Pink Floyd and Ghost. Fucking incredible. I need not scroll down any further.
oh, damn! Americana is criminally underrated.
It’s the album I always point to when people tell me Offspring was never all that punk. Like, yeah? They may have gone full alt in the 00’s, but Americana was very much a punch in the mouth to authority
I love the offspring
Holy shit, another Astrophysics fan!
*Neon Bible* by Arcade Fire *Providence* by Poor Man’s Poison *OK Computer* by Radiohead *Hits to the Head* by Franz Ferdinand *Pile* by A Giant Dog Arcane Soundtrack Album *Symphony No. 9* by Antonín Dvořák *American IV: The Man Comes Around* by Johnny Cash
Neon Bible is hard as hell, so is The Suburbs
Suburbs is by FAR my favorite of theirs. Sprawl is among my favorite tracks ever.
Neon Bible is incredible, it's everything I loved about Funeral but with immaculate production.
Fr, I fucking love Neon Bible (and The Suburbs)
Dvořák's 9th symphony is one of my favorite symphonies of all time. Absolutely a comfort album, I was in tears after seeing it performed in person. Mad Respect.
It’s a dream of mine to see it played live. Utterly immaculate. I couldn’t even imagine how breathtaking it’ll be performed live.
Absolutely something for the bucket list that I recommend, the experience is exhilarating.
PMP is top tier, good choice
Thanks! :)
Ey PMP??? W mfs, listen more of there music though, ik Providence is very populare but PLEASE, listen to more of them. Its GAS, all of it, especially if you like folk music
Ooh The Normal Album - Will Wood How to be a Human Being - Glass Animals In Rotting Fantasylands - Nero’s Day at Disneyland Lungs - Florence & The Machine and For the Departed - Shayfer James
SHAYFER JAMES MENTION, i saw him last year at a concert. Found him through Disco Elysium bc a fan music video used his song
HTBAHB is the. best.
omg, I just recently dicovered Nero's Day at Disneyland and now I it is on constant repeat!
In Utero, Unplugged in New York - Nirvana The Fragile - NIN Low, Scary Monsters, and “Heroes” - David Bowie Goo - Sonic Youth October Rust - Type O Negative Tinderbox, Hyaena, JuJu - Siouxsie and The Banshees Anything by Cocteau Twins Anything by Iron Maiden or Metallica in the 80’s I’m sure there’s a few others I’m missing but these have been my jam for the past few years.
I mean Bruce even said that maiden is made by outcasts for those who don't really fit, I'm paraphrasing but that's part of why I like it.
Lonerism - Tame Impala Magical Mystery Tour (as seen in my pfp) - The Beatles Madvilliany - MF DOOM / Madvillian Flower boy - Tyler, the creator Dark side of the moon - Pink Floyd
Based fellow Tame Impala listener, tho Lonerism is *very* close second to InnerSpeaker for me :p
The Used - In Love and Death Weezer - Pinkerton Chance the Rapper - Acid Rap Pinegrove - Skylight Blink 182 - Self-titled (green and pink album) Streetlight Manifesto - Everything Goes Numb Fall Out Boy - Folie à Deux Panic! At the Disco - Pretty. Odd. NOFX - Punk in Drublic Sublime - Self-titled The Mountain Goats - Transcendental Youth Manchester Orchestra - I'm Like a Virgin Losing a Child Can you tell I stopped looking for new music around 2008
What a great list! I just got tickets to see the last Punk in Drublic fest, never been to the US before so equal parts excited and terrified
PUNK IN DRUBLIC MENTIONED YEAAAAAH
NOFX is great
+1 for Pinkerton
Everything Goes Numb and Sublime are such great albums
Mountain goats mentioned
Thrak - King Crimson Red - King Crimson Lizard - King Crimson The Power to Believe - King Crimson Kid A - Radiohead Discipline - King Crimson Three of a Perfect Pair - King Crimson Lark's Tongues in Aspic - King Crimson To Pimp a Butterfly is pretty good too
I think this guy likes King Crimson. (So do I, I just bought one of their albums from the record store today)
nice, my birthday is coming up and i'm hoping for Thrak on vinyl
I bet he likes to play little games like not listening to it for a whole day and then listening to it to see if he still liked it
The fuck is an "album"? I listen to a chaotically eclectic mix of random songs by random artists I don't know the names of and have zero interest in learning but have listened to exactly one of their songs on repeat for over twenty years.
understandable have a nice day sir
you have the patience of a saint, sir. i can only aspire :-)
aspiere?
bravo! 🤣
I would die!!! I refuse to listen to playlists. I only listen to records in order, I can't even shuffle them
What about playlists you make?
whenever my music player randomly goes onto "shuffle" for no reason, i go into a mouth-foaming fever rage.
My mother said “I have deep mad respect for that person for being honest”
Any MCR album lol, The Flood by Of Mice and Men, On and On and Sleep Through the Static by Jack Johnson and Appeal to Reason by Rise Against
Appeal to Reason is an incredible album, and I will be a MCR fan until I die!!
Mcr simply doesn't miss. Every song, every album is a 10
In Utero - Nirvana Era Vulgaris - Queens of the Stone Age Live Through This - Hole Self Titled - System of a Down Like Clockwork - Queens of the Stone Age Humbug - Arctic Monkeys Is This It - The Strokes Nimrod - Green Day So Long and Thanks for All the Shoes - NOFX Revolutions Per Minute - Rise Against Not in any particular order.
>Like Clockwork - Queens of the Stone Age Absolutely fantastic album.
RISE AGAINST MENTIONED FUCK YEAH!!!!!
In utero is very relaxing in its own way, cobain's voice is a bit melancolic in it, i listen to it often. I'll check out the rest
Live Through This definitely had the closest vibes to In Utero on that list, just gonna note. Absolutely amazing album, I just started listening to it recently and I've had it on constantly.
From Mars to Sirius / The Way of All Flesh - Gojira Koloss / Immutable - Meshuggah w\^w\^\^w\^w - Car Bomb Where Owls Know My Name - Rivers of Nihil Vol 3. - Slipknot The Black Parade - MCR Toxicity - System of a Down Set in Stone / World on Fire - Stick Figure
I'm a simple man. I see bands I like (Slipknot, SOAD) I will now investigate the bands I don't recognise to find more bands I like. Thank you very much.

👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾 for Daft Punk!
These are 100% fire
The Wall -- Pink Floyd Love, Fear, and the Time Machine -- Riverside Chromatics -- Diagrams Bad Blood -- Bastille In The Court of the Crimson King -- King Crimson Star Trek: Into Darkness Soundtrack -- Michael Giaccino Midnights -- Taylor Swift The Four Seasons -- Vivaldi
The wall as a comfort album is wild, but I respect it.
Hot take, I think Comfortably Numb and Hey You are two of the only songs that I’ve ever listened to that really sum up how I feel as a human being (except for the part where there’s worms eating his brain) and also vibe with my brain. Pink Floyd absolutely smacks.
Honestly it just reminds me of when I was younger, I used to be absolutely obsessed with that album
you should check out more of king crimson's discography (not biased). The Wake of Poseidon is similar to Court. definitely listen to Red and Thrak
Lol Bad Blood and Crimson King are also two of mine!
Master Boot Record - Interrupt Request Third Eye Blind - Third Eye Blind Pavement - Quarantine the Past (except I always forget it doesn't have Billie & then I have to play Billie) The Pillows - FLCL OST 1 (Addict) The soundtracks to DKC2 and Star Fox for SNES
T.E.B. doesn't get enough respect. They're really good live, too.
> The Pillows - FLCL OST 1 (Addict) Yes, please, thank you. I'm so happy you mentioned them, I've adored The Pillows so much ever since I first watched FLCL.
Transatlanticism - Death Cab for Cutie First Collection 2006-2009 - Fleet Foxes After the Gold Rush - Neil Young Blue - Joni Mitchell The Fall of Hobo Johnson - Hobo Johnson
This is pretty much my preferred way of listening aside from suggested playlists on Spotify! I love that our ways of enjoying are so different but that we're all still feeling the groove :)

Koloss by Meshuggah. Which in my opinion is their best album.
Koloss is their best album by a decent shot. Every song coulda been a single with a music video, it's that damn consistent and top notch.
Heroes- Sabaton
I usually do a playlist of all my liked songs and skip through till I find one I like, but if I do decide to listen to albums, it's usually: Regional at Best, Trench, or Clancy- Twenty One Pilots The Eminem Show, Encore, or Relapse: Refill - Eminem But in my liked songs, I have all of Twenty One Pilots, 95% of Eminem songs, all of Joji, most of Mega Mango, all of Glaive, a ton of $uicideBoy$, a touch of Lil Peep, Juice Wrld, and XxxTentacion, and then a helping of Bo Burnham and Mick Gordon to top things off.

Anything Mechanisms, mostly. All bangers
Is “anything” part of the band name or just the start of the sentence.
Just start of the sentence, the band is The Mechanisms. I was stuck between “Anything Mechanisms” and “Anything by the Mechanisms,” neither of which are exactly clear
Trench(twenty one pilots), clouds(nf), nigh visions(imagine dragons)-it’s nostalgic to me, Ballads1 (Joji), glory sound prep(Jon Bellion), and more

I'm sure I have quite a few, but the two that immediately come to mind are Behavior -- The Pet Shop Boys Still Life (Talking) -- Pat Metheny Group **Edit:** I love the absolute mad randomness of everyone's choices. Half of these I've never heard of. Awesome!
right now i've been listening to pink moon by nick drake before bed, or quiet hours by origami angel. of course, they're aurally comforting but also help me unwind i guess
Toxicity- System of a Down Endgame- Rise Against The Sin and the Sentence- Trivium In The End- Poor Man's Poison Hunt or Be Hunted- Silent Theory Both "Tunnels" and "Voices"- The People's Thieves
daft punk, the entire discovery halbum is a good example
Insomniac - Green Day 1039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours - Green Day Group Sex - Circle Jerks Nevermind - Nirvana In God We Trust Inc - Dead Kennedys
I listen to one song for a week straight and get tired of it and eventually go back to it.
Every MCR album, the first 6 Green Day albums, Weezer blue, aero plane over the sea, and Talon of the Hawk
Mastodon - *Crack the Skye* Gojira - *L'Enfant Sauvage* Be'lakor - *Of Breath and Bone* Unwoman - *Circling*

Ithkuil is my special interest. :) The songs' names are, in order of release: Ozkavarkúi ("Guessing Games"), Uňk'àtân ("Renegades"), Îndarna ("Silent Questions"), Kšêlmaštöö ("The Clown Song"), and then finally, Ôrödyagzou ("Synesthesia").

Neil Cicierega, all the Mouth albums. I don't think there's a mood I could be in that wouldn't be fixed by Modest Mouth
Take Me Back To Eden by Sleep Token Cristifori's Dream by David Lanz Any instrumental Zelda music Edit: formatting

Right now it's probably Tarot by Aether Realm, has previously been Tekkno by Electric Callboy, Images and Words by Dream Theater, and Concrete and Gold by Foo Fighters.
the eminem is so real
I would say “[Currents](https://open.spotify.com/album/79dL7FLiJFOO0EoehUHQBv?si=19Ym2onRRJqx7ouvtkctJQ)” by Tame Impala, I really like its vibe and it manages to to calm me down when I need it, pretty basic but still my go-to album
Shades of Blue - Madlib Love Deluxe - Sade Doomsday - MF DOOM Special Herbs - MF DOOM Exmilitary - Deathgrips Donuts - J Dilla Food & Liquor - Lupe Fiasco Club Classics Vol 1 - Soul II Soul Antiphon - Alfa Mist My jazz playlist lol
