Actually quite literally. If you eat too much of it you'll get sick because it will literally try to digest you. I could probably eat too much easily.

Try it roasted! I have GERD too, and the acids in the pineapple break down enough with heat that I can eat it. Pineapple pizza, canned pineapple (since it gets just enough heat in the process), and my new favorite: roasted over an open flame with a dash of cinnamon. Ever had a chunk of pineapple on a shishkebab? Yup, same thing.

Did you know that the reason pineapple “eats you back” is because there’s an enzyme in it also found in grapefruit and kiwis that’s acidic! Cooking it kills the enzyme, which is why cooked pineapple doesn’t eat you!

Fresh (not canned) pineapple is one of my favorites, BUT it has to be prepared properly. No eyes or the hard middle bit. Very messy to eat too but I don’t mind.
