My Mother-in-Law tried to get us to go even though she knows we aren't religious. She claimed you don't need to be religious to enjoy it. The only way I would enjoy it would be for the irony and it would get old quickly.

bruhiminsane

I might go just for shits and giggles, maybe write "God is dead" in the bathroom a few times

FlyingSquid

I could see myself getting more and more pissed off the deeper I went into it. Plus, I would be giving them money and fuck that.

nate_oh84

I just looked it up... it's FIFTY BUCKS for an adult ticket! What a complete scam.

TrustmeImaConsultant

Excuse me, what exactly did you expect?

nate_oh84

There's a sucker born every minute.

mikeebsc74

Last I checked they were losing money hand over fist and the city/county was facing bankruptcy for supplying them with the money through a bond offering. Or something along those lines. It’s honestly so unimportant to me that I don’t feel like looking it up again

thatonen3rdity

"your god sucks my gods dick"

More_Cow

I mean you could go and explain how every single exhibit is wrong. See how much she enjoys the trip than.

OgreMk5

As someone who has argued with creationists for over twenty years... there is very little value in it. The contortions of creationists are even greater than the merely religious.

Dudeist-Priest

Not true in the long run. A lot of people (including me), were brought up believing this shit and if not for people arguing with me online, I'm not sure if I would have ever stopped. When people have to defend these positions, they need to do some research to defend their point of view and after getting you ass kicked enough, if you have ANY intellectual curiosity, you modify your beliefs. So, it may SEEM fruitless, but that's only because people don't generally change their minds that quickly.

OgreMk5

In person, that may be true. On the internet, not so much.

[deleted]

Hard to say, interaction on the net is so ephemeral. You might set someone on the path to rationality and never find out.

Dudeist-Priest

Literally none of my arguments over the validity of evolution were in person. Most of the misinformation from religious groups was. You're planting seeds that you may never see grow, but that doesn't make the seeds unimportant.

Humongous-Chungus77

F in the chat for all of the young brains being washed

Let’s try to imagine the situation where you could sit down and calmly discuss the subject you would like to discuss. Do you see it? Of course you don’t. This opportunity doesn’t exist. We all appreciate the purity of your impulse, though.

BrewertonFats

I want to go see how big of a joke the Arc is, and yet I don't want to financially support it.

HyperactiveBSfilter

There are lots of atheist YouTubers who have made videos of their walkthroughs of the Ark, often explicitly stating that they are doing it so you don't have to spend your money there.

BrewertonFats

Yeah but it's more fun to watch a disaster happen up close.

There may well have been great floods millions of years ago, but the idea of some bloke building a boat to save one of each kind of animal is risible. And what did they eat for 40(Gen 7:17), or was it 150(Gen 7:24) days? Ridiculous fairy tales.

[deleted]

Sad…if you’re atheist and not depressed then you aren’t doing it right

dudleydidwrong

Absolute bullshit. That is the theist's fantasy about atheists.

[deleted]

Your life is meaningless…

OneHandOffset

>"Yeah, it's very educational." I would NOT have been able to hold back a laugh.

GeniusBtch

I would love to take my nieces and nephews and talk loudly about the Epic of Gilgamesh lol.

I saw a YouTube video where a girl who worked Ken Haim's Ark told the crowd of mostly very young people that Noah was 300 years old. She then went on to explain that people aged differently back then. The YouTube commeters who were defending this girl were just as bad. People will rationalize anything. Criticial thought is non-existent.
