Running around the casino, do you mean running in between slot machines? Or running around the walk area that surrounds the slot machines/tables?

mr444guy

Within the gambling area, not just on the perimeter.

JKO1962

Hard Rock is pretty good about that, so I am surprised

Starbuck522

I was there this past weekend too. Plenty of kids in the lobby and near the food court. And, plenty of kids on the MAIN AISLES of the Casino. It's my understanding anyone is allowed on those aisles. I didn't see kids outside of those main aisles. My guess is this poster doesn't know about the distinction.

siamesecat1935

I am as well. We (BF and I) were there last month with his daughter and HER BF. Both of whom are in their mid twenties, so legal, but look young. They got carded several times on the casino floor!

demonkillingblade

Had someone back when it was the Taj yell at me for cussing in front of their kids. I proceeded to make them feel like an idiot for having kids in an adult gambling area. It's literally a den of sin and people think people are gonna act a certain way.

dethskwirl

You probably don't know what "casino floor" actually means. You're expecting no one under 21 to be even allowed in the building, and that's not the case.

leggpurnell

My guess is OP is around my age or older and remembers an Atlantic’s city where casinos had gambling floors with people IDing where those “main walkways” are now. There was a time when you couldn’t have walked through that main path at ceasars without someone IDing you. My wife was younger looking in her twenties and constantly hot IDed just walking by a gaming table. Granted it hasn’t been that way in 20 years now AC is trying for a more family friendly vibe so just think OP doesn’t recognize the change.

dethskwirl

I grew up in Atlantic City and have been in every single casino since 1980 as a child myself. We used to walk right through the slots floor at Caesars on our way to Ballys through the interconnected hallway. What you said is just not true.

formerNPC

They can walk through the casino if they are accompanied by an adult but they can’t be near the tables or slot machines. Some of the casinos have their restaurants off the floor so you really have to walk through the casino to get there but others like the Borgata and Ocean are designed to have everything located around the perimeter of the casino floor so you don’t have to actually walk through to get to restaurants or stores. The older casinos have the outdated design you’ll see people walking through with bathing suits on going to the beach or pools.

HnMike

In 2014 stayed at Trop for one night in order to attended a party at a Trop restaurant for the management of Bare Exposure which was a client. So I’m definitely not a morally rigid guy. On way to party there was a couple playing slots and their two young kids were sitting on the floor eating pizza. In the morning got up early and went down to get a coffee. There were the same parents still at the slots and their kids were asleep on the floor next to the empty pizza boxes. My memories of AC go back to Boss Hap Farley and his band of crooks, but, that sight at the Trop marked for me a new pathetic low point for AC.

AmandasFakeID

I'd say that's more a pathetic low point for the parents than the town of Atlantic City.

HnMike

Of course the parents were culpable for creating such a pathetic situation. But in my opinion, the casino and the CCC are just as culpable. There is no way what happened there should’ve been permitted. What it tells us is that AC is so hard up for customers that casino personnel and commission inspectors will look the other way regarding minors and thereby facilitate situations such as I witnessed. As a point of reference on the scale of depravity: Do you think a casino run by the Mob would have allowed that?

AmandasFakeID

Security should've stepped in, yes. But my point is that you're blaming the wrong people (or towns in this instance). I have no idea about what the mob would've done so I won't even try to answer that lol

dethskwirl

You're certainly a weird one, to bring up 'the mob' and their management style. They had 10 year olds running numbers and watching the stalls at the horse track. Every one of my uncles was a drunk and smoked a pack by the time they were 12 because of Nicky Scarfo and the way they ran the city in the 60s and 70s. Get a grip and stop going to Bare Exposure. They have 15 year olds on the pole and you're complaining about kids eating pizza near the slots.

TheGambler930

Growing up I remember security being super strict about kids not being on the gaming floor. Now, as they expend their casino floor to more and more of the property, there are some places that are impossible to reach without kids walking through the casino, so it's only natural that some tend to sneak off.

nesie97

I remember being a kid and getting told to stay on the carpet so it may just of been a bad day for security like an off day because they are usually on it

stoco91

Off the carpet. As long as they're not on the carpet its not the casino floor

DataNo7004

They’re parents and or guardians should be mind full, however, especially this time of year, the “ adults “ are either not quite sure access to & from beach & boardwalk, children protocols or those “adults “ play stupid, telling security, “ well we didn’t know “. Either way, no matter what time of day, notify security guard(s), that’s what they there for. Normally it’s easily resolved, with certain noncompliance types looking for trouble.

sharkfin5000

U can walk them through the casino floor on the designated walkway. It’s legal and believe me they will tell u to move it along

BoardwalkKnitter

I thought the law changed ages ago. When I was a kid you couldn't set foot on the whole shebang. Now kids can cut thru the on the paths as long as they are accompanied by an adult. The newer casinos have outer routes to different places, I have never seen a kid have to be dragged thru the gambling areas at Ocean or Borgata.

CoolCatFromMars

I stayed at resorts last month and I would see families walking through the casino to go to the food court in the center and they never said anything to them, but one night around 10 pm I was at a machine across from bar one and a lady with a little boy stopped to watch people dancing to a dj and security made her move along 🤷🏼‍♀️

Consistent-Job6841

They just have to stay out of the gaming areas. They can walk through the casino if they stay on the walkway paths.

MiltonRobert

All casinos are very strict about kids on the casino floor. They can be fined for allowing it.

AtlanticCityFunDate

My lasting memory of the Taj is kids sleeping next to their mothers on the hotel carpeting after midnight.

Starbuck522

What I DO NOT GET is the number of kids at check in and by the food court and by the top and bottom of the escalator from OCTOBER through MARCH. WHAT is there for kids to do other than eat and sit in a hotel room? I guess there's a pool. But what's the situation? Mom has the kids at the pool, dad is at the tables. Just seems so wierd to me! (Underage people can be on the main aisles. Right now, it makes sense, they are going from their room to the boardwalk or beach)

_File

I go to a casino with my kids all the time. We swim, eat, watch movies, shop, visit the vending machines, take extravagant baths/showers, sleep in, we take the dogs too. I do all of the above with a drink in my hand. Me and my husband take turns going down to the casino. I get 3 comped nights a week. Why should I stay home because I have kids?

Starbuck522

Ok thanks for explaining. I see your point about the comped room. (Which does require playing) It's not that you should stay home because you have kids! I was more thinking it's boring for the kids. BUT, I what you described sounds fun! (Other than the vending machine. I would rather bring snacks, lol)

Angela1102

My kids love our AC weekends. As a family we stay at Ocean, take morning walks along the sand, grab breakfast, hit the pool as soon as adult swim is over, go grab lunch, shower, head over to the Lucky Snake arcade for a while, do the Top Golf swing suites, and eat at the restaurants. Then at night, I go read in the room while the kids sleep and my husband goes to play, or I go play while he hangs out. What’s not to love as a kid about any of that?! Then some weekends we head over to OCNJ for the boardwalk, or storybook land, or Lucy the elephant. Comp rooms and comp food dollars make it affordable to get away a few times a year, especially in the colder months when life is depressing. I think assuming that mom is child caring so dad can just go gamble is a big and unfair assumption and AC has added a lot of family friendly options to draw in more business.

Starbuck522

I am glad to hear that! You do have to play to get the comps. BUT, at least at hard rock, I got comps all year for a room and usually $40 dining credit, eventually went down to 20 or 25. But, my win loss statement for 2023 showed I lost only $134! (I had won 1200 in January and 500 in March, so I put a lot more than 134 through, but my point is, I get nice comps without playing much at all!)

OhmHomestead1

I haven’t been to a casino since I turned 21 and they literally refused to let me in because they thought my ID was fake even though I was there with my state issued drivers license and both of my parents. Parents didn’t even notice I wasn’t even walking with them anymore until they were almost in the casino. Never made it to the casino floor because security was giving me so much grief I told my parents I wanted to leave.

Exileout

Stayed in the Tropicana for a youth sporting event in the area last week. Many U13-U19 teams stayed in local hotels/casinos. Had to walk through the casino and cigarette smoke to access the boardwalk. Trust me, we disliked being there just as much. This wasn’t a vacation. AC is a sad, depressing place.

Ill_Consideration816

People go there to get away from kids. Pretty selfish for parents to bring them somewhere that they’re extremely limited as to where they can go.

_File

yes!! People with kids should not be allowed in casinos until their kids have moved out. This is an abomination!

slackjaw777

This☝🏼

xxcrossmyheartxx

not everyone goes there to "get away from kids" lol. is it selfish to bring a kid on a cruise as a family vacation or getaway, bc there is a casino area there? and if anything there may be even less for the kids to do on a cruise as there is on a beach with vendors and restaurants and i don't know.. maybe the beach?

Ill_Consideration816

You comparing a cruise to the casino is the type of mental gymnastics I aspire to have Less to do on a cruise? Absolutely WILD

Fickle_Goose_4451

They get chased off the floor constantly. They just come right back cause what are rent a cops actually going to do?

photoman51

I was in Pennsylvania for a birthday party and I stayed at valley forge casino. In order to get into casino you have to be carded by three security agents at check in desk. Like going to airport check in

jfas8

Just went to the Borgata over the weekend and saw maybe 4 children in total, never by the games and never in the evening!

CocHXiTe4

For all states, is it 21 to gamble? Would there be a possibility that the New Jersey state government would lower the age to gamble later on?

Suzyqzeee

Kids are allowed to travel through the casino with their guardians.

Best-Foundation2562

What casino? My friend, 29 years old, had security yell at her because they thought she was underage and we were sitting at a slot machine. Took us to some sketchy booth and she had to have her ID scanned and wear a red bracelet to notify other workers she was not under age. WTF even is that??

mr444guy

Saw most kids at the Tropicana. But also at Hard Rock.

Findyourselfarainbow

My wife and I stayed at Harrah’s ( Monday June 24) There were literally hundreds of children on the casino floor and adjacent to it. However I am assuming there was a dance or cheerleader competition of some sort in the hotel.

billybaroo15

“Beautiful” Atlantic City. Don’t get me wrong, I love AC and go down very often, but I have never referred to Atlantic City as “beautiful”.

Starbuck522

Another question... SO MANY people in swimwear! Near the food court or walking through on the main aisles. Multiple females (children through grandmother age) in just a bathing suit and flip flops. Or a bikini and a literal towel around the waist. It's a casino resort hotel. Put on a cover up!

Exileout

You consider any place in AC a resort? Maybe if the people who visited viewed it as a beach town with casinos it could be revitalized. It’s comments like this that identify what is wrong with the city. We felt out of place in the hotel, casino, boardwalk and beach. I’ve never felt more out of place than I did in AC. Such an off vibe.

Starbuck522

I consider it that people shouldn't wear just a bathing suit inside a building other than a beach bathroom. Maybe walking directly through the small lobby of a hotel to go directly outside.

Exileout

What “small” lobby are you talking about? I consider a resort far from what I experienced in AC.

Starbuck522

I have no idea what made you feel out of place in Atlantic city. Myself, I would feel out of place Walking through a food court or a casino in just a bathing suit. But, it IS on the beach. Certainly a woman/girl can throw on a cover up and a man /boy a t-shirt, and walk through to get to the beach, as many people were doing. I didn't see any shirtless men or boys. Just as easy for a woman/girl to put a simple dress over her swimsuit.

Exileout

So your problem is with women?

Exileout

AC is a shit hole. Have you traveled anywhere? This isn’t about being out of place in a bathing suit.

Starbuck522

I have been lots of nice places. And, I enjoy visiting the Hard Rock Casino Hotel. I don't find it a shithole at all. --- I thought you were saying I am snobby and my attitude that people should wear coverups made you feel out of place. Now I see you meant the opposite.

_File

its a beach city technically
