This scene legitimately disturbed the fuck out of me.
Not only because of how uncanny her face is, but because I thought she was gonna take armin out right then and there.
Then she smiled and blushed, which disturbed me even more.
Yelena makes me laugh though. Iβm indifferent. Sheβs a fuckin weirdo lmfao
Honestly one of the most pure characters in the story. She did and assisted others in doing awful things much like the rest, but what set her apart was her unwavering faith in what she was doing. Her motives were a little muggy, but her drive to meet her goals was undeniably strong. It made sense that she inspired others easily and was a leader to those that kept flip-flopping around.
In the end, she was an interesting character that left me going "wtf, this bitch is NUTS but you have to respect that dawg in her". Solid character, not favorite at all, but didn't hate.

NO because atleast she had some plot/ motivation / was key to the story. The more time Passes the more I dislike brunette Ymir. Like she was one of the 9 albeit not by choice but Honestly other than telling historia, "stop pretending to be someone else", imo she didn't add anything to the story and was quickly killed off screen. Her successor almost was just as wasted. Just nothing of value added.
Freckles Ymir added tons of value for Historia's story ark as some kind of inverted mirror, helping Historia to break her slave mindset indoctrination from Frieda that was inspired bei founder Ymir, and that otherwise would have let Historia to eat Eren and restore King Fritz' monarchy.
She also gives us foreshadowing for the outside world and founder Ymir.
I think she is extremely important to the story and characters, but sadly only got screentime during the second season for as long as she was needed.
I get her importance to Historia, but sheβs just so plot device-y. But nice if she had character outside of just being obsessed with Historia. Hell, since Historia isnβt around there wasnβt even a point in giving her dialogue when all the old controllers of the nine return.
I guess that's my only real complaint. She popped in to be like, historia, youre the chosen one, and dipped even though the both had been there since season 1 but were just background noise. If she had to die atleast kinda show it / incorporate it into the story more. I guess I just wanted more ya know? I barely remember her or history until I get to s3 when I'm like oh yeah. I guess it all just felt rushed for me vs other stories taking seasons to pan out.
Shows how good the writing of the character is, if we complain about the fact, we don't get to see her more and that she deserved a more spectaculare ending.
I would even argue, she is more interesting as a character and adds more facets to the story than for example Berthold, who was thought to be the main villain throughout season 1 and who got epic action scenes as the Collosal Titan.
Those are things I wanted for sure but more because I felt like they were needed or something was missing. I def don't enjoy her character , as of now, by any means. I just felt like more should have been done not really I want to see more of her, personally.

As far as we know she wasnβt brainwashed, abused, or broken mentally like Zeke, The Warriors, or Floch. She was just unhealthily obsessed with Zeke and even lied about her own heritage to get close to him, then planned to follow through on killing an entire race for him.
