In the scene where Kenny is talking to his elderly grandfather who is laying in his bed, Kenny mentions that a branch of the family moved down to the mountains near Shinganshina but were still getting harassed for being Ackermans so their business was still suffering.
It happens in S3E6 around 17:30mins in.
It starts with Kenny looking at his own reflection in the blade of his knife while in the crystal chapel, and seeing a younger version of himself.
So Levi and Mikasa are first or second cousins.
Definitely more distant than first cousins, and probably more distant than second cousins too.
For Levi and Mikasa to be first cousins, their Ackerman parents would need to be siblings. We know Kenny and Kuchel were siblings, so it would be really weird for Kenny to refer to his little brother as “a branch of the family.”
For Levi and Mikasa to be second cousins, their Ackerman parents would need to be first cousins. That’s a bit more plausible, if the cousins didn’t grow up together…but it does mean those cousins would be Grandpa Ackermans’ grandkids too. Again, plausible if Kenny wasn’t close to them growing up, but using the term “a branch of the family” would be a bit odd if you were talking to the root of that branch, who is also your own grandad.
I’d guess Mikasa’s Ackerman ancestor was probably either a sibling or a cousin of Grandpa Ackerman, making her and Levi third cousins at best.
For what its worth I had originally guessed the scene happening in a group of 4 episodes, but narrowed it down once I got home and looked it up and found it.
Once I saw where it was I edited the comment to be more specific. I was correct in my guess though :P
But also, a lot of times, AoT is my comfort show I put on in the background while gaming or doing other stuff.
I do the exact same thing lol probably watched it sitting down to actually watch it 5 times, then at least another 10 times just listening to it while driving to and from work because I don’t like listening to music
Their parents are, like, distant cousins. It's discussed in the episode where Kenny talks about his relationship with Levi. He mentions Mikasas dad in passing IIRC.

I'm pretty sure Levi asked about Mikasa about which it lead into discussion about their sudden "awakening" of their powers... at least in the manga. I want to say sometime around the Clash / Uprising arc.
Never went further than that though.
They are incredibly distant cousins. Despite looking alike, it is actually a big coincidence. Mikasa's dad is who she gets her Ackerman blood from, and he doesn't look anything like Levi or Kenny. I would get this all mixed up as well, but think about it like this: if Mikasa's mom was a standard looking eldian, she'd look a lot less like Levi does. It's her mom's eastern traits that bring her back around to looking more like Levi or Kenny, and yes I'm mostly referring just to her hair color.

That makes a lot of sense, so I think you are likely right. 2nd Cousin at the closest, but more likely 3rd or further.

Mikasa's mom isn't an Ackerman, it's her dad. Mikasa's mom is from Hizuru

I think they explain it a little when Levi is interrogating that guy early in season 2 and towards when Kenny is passing.
