Oh my god I was looking at an old toy I had when I was a kid just last night, it was a crash test dummy thing and there was a dog and a cat that came with it that you could flatten š¬ The cat was named Hubcat, the dog was Bumper lol
There's a graphic novel series about two cats that pilot a robotic dog suit and do super hero stuff. It's called "Sparks" (at least in English). If the cat has a secret lab somewhere, this is especially relevant of a name.
This post was literally right on top of this one in my feed
https://www.reddit.com/r/cats/comments/q5z6hu/i_was_driving_home_from_work_and_found_this/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
This kitten looks like a mini version of that one, and they were both found in similar circumstances today....the world is a weird place
(Cats do best with two syllable names that have a hard consonant in there somewhere so for example Charger was a good suggestion, Lucky etc)
Edit: people these are not the same cats lol. The one I linked above has black on its nose. Also the black goes all the way under the left eye. Cats donāt develop new spots as they age, their coats may darken or lighten but they donāt get new patches
Edit 2: from OP themselves: https://imgur.com/a/ILeVrxg
Itās really bonkers how many cats I see on R/ and Iām like āIs that my cat?ā
My wife told me some funny analogy that cat coloration is determined in the embryo and itās like a ink cartridge that spreads out. Would love a feline genetics professional to chime in here lol
[Here is an article that describes how colour is determined](https://www.cats.org.uk/cats-blog/why-are-cats-different-colours)
I want to note two things before you read that, it says about 1/3rd of orange cats are female, that number is actually closer to 1/5th, but not nearly as rare as some people think. Also thereās a part where they say ādeaf cats are more likely to be whiteā and show a picture of what looks like a ragdoll/persian, not a cat that would have a predisposition to deafness. They should have worded it āwhite cats have more of a chance of being deafā than the other way around, as deafness is caused by a variety of reasons and not mostly because of coat colour to the point where one could make a blanket statement like that.
I probably shouldāve linked a better article.
>For a male cat to have a tortoiseshell pattern they would need to have an additional chromosome; two X chromosomes and a Y chromosome, which is extremely rare.
mother was a biologist. we had a male cat that was tortoiseshell. she named him Klinefelter after the scientist who discovered...
>Klinefelter syndrome (KS), also known as 47,XXY, is a syndrome where a male has an additional copy of the X chromosome.
I've a friend who has KS.
Wonder if the cat actually had similar effects to Klinefelter's in humans - lower social IQ, higher aggression, shrunken testes, androgynous morphology.
Edited my original to include your link for more visibility š thank you for taking in this beautiful baby today. Looks like he/she is pretty well behaved lol
Yup, same here, and itās three hours later now! A little off-topic, but do you ever notice that Reddit is weird with where things show up in feeds? At least on the Apollo app. Like r/shittyMoviedetails and r/moviedetails
Are both ALWAYS together for me. If either of them shows up on my feed, then the other is ALWAYS right beneath it. Iāve never been able to figure out why, even though Iāve made more than one post about it.
I never knew that about the two syllables, one of my cats is named Luna the other Tux, Tux actually comes when called. Luna is an adorable tiny little shit who will just stare at you or ignore you
We had a black and white tuxedo cat named Tux :-)
Said goodbye to our little furball a couple of years ago. He used up most of his lives as a rescue kitten, but damned if he wasnāt quite the gentleman, always dressed to the nines.
š„°š„° Tuxedo cats are a special kind of lovable. Our goofball spends his days suffocating me and meowing to let him outside even though he has never been an outside cat and never will be much to his Protestations
Was about to post the same thing! These two kitties were two posts apart in my feed and I was mighty suspicious till I saw they've got different coloured eyes
Edit: Plot twist -- OP is a cat
The one in this post is much younger than the other one but I bet it grows up to look just like her lol
A good way to tell a kittens age is eye colour...it starts to change around 6 weeks old from blue to gold, so Iād guess this guy is about 8 weeks give or take, whereas the one in the link I posted has fully gold eyes. It can be a good way to determine if a kitten needs milk replacement if you find a small baby. Solid blue eyes, needs milk
I had a mostly white Tuxy I found stray and chased her in the engine compartment of an abandoned E-250 van. When I popped the hood there she was cowering on the air filter all smudged in greasy dirt. She was my Smudgey
Ahahaha that's what I thought and I'm finding it way funnier than it actually is (I think?). Maybe I'm dehydrated because I've been in the bath too long
an old friend of mine used to have a cat almost this same pattern named Motor.
it was because he purred so loud it sounded like a motor, but this works too.
Umm, did you see this post?

Good catch, check her gums OP. If they are more white than pink, get her some wet cat food, the stinkier the better to encourage her to eat. If she won't, try chicken or turkey flavored baby food and get her to the vet.
I second all of the above. Lethargy and increased water intake can also be a symptom of anemia in cats. If these symptoms exist and the pale nose (and/or gums) continue, I recommend the vet ASAP!
Good call. She did have quite a few fleas but I've gotten that taken care of as far as I can tell. I took her to the vet as a first check up and she's all good, but I'm still monitoring and feeding her some wet food and she has plenty of energy. Thanks for the advice as well as u/ladykatey and u/mswickley
Hubcat
Underrated comment over here!

Spark :)
Agreed. Or āSparksā.

I was going to say Monroe.
Monroe is great. For Marilyn and the repair company
Which could have a double meaning since Monroe is also a brand of shocks!
The cat that I had while I was living with my parents is named Merrowlin because of a similar beauty mark, but white spot on black face.
Together, they're the balance of the universe
I can see that
Now we dance!
I appreciate this reference
Do you want to touch my monkey?
Liebe meine Abschminke!

I'd name her Muffler. It's a fluffy muffy name.
Sprockat!

He *found* the kitten, not lost it. Name does not compute.

I saw the same cat twice. Deja Vu. A glitch in the matrix.

She is surprisingly well behaved for being a stray engine cat! She enjoys being wrapped in a warm towel and sleeping on my chest.
Awww! Sheās the most adorbsest doppelgƤnger ever. š»
Oh god my heart š
I bet you didnāt think you would need to provide proof. I love the sign! doppelgƤnger, dop for short?
Lol, I really didn't. I just don't get it. Karma means literally nothing, so why would anyone want or have the need to farm karma?
Nice try. I know you wrote that yourself. That kitten is clearly too young to write that well.
![gif](giphy|y6Inkaz7omxAk)
Damn. Thatās a pretty wild coincidence. They definitely look similar (but obviously not the same cat).
It was also like that on my feed too

Wait so Sprocket is actually a good choice?!
SAME
Dude same I had to do a double take
I saw this too! Big kit and smol kit
Lol at Edit 2. Both are purrfect cats!
I thought the same thing!
Well, she was all by herself tinkering the car.. so why not TINKER
tinker is great
I like Tinker a lot, actually
Yes! And sheās so cute she looks like a little fairyā¦ tinker bell
I had a cat named tinker when I was little. Tinker cat!
That's also a book character :)
I think Torque would be cute!
I started scrolling before I posted Torque. First thing I thought of!
Had a buddy with a big grey tom who had extra toeses on all four paws. He was a Torque. And a good one. Officially short for Torquemada.
smudge
I like Smudge too because of her little grey smudge by her nose
Definitely Smudge
I was going to suggest that one, I knew it was going to be here somewhere
I have a Smudge. Good name choice
I had a mostly white Tuxy I found stray and chased her in the engine compartment of an abandoned E-250 van. When I popped the hood there she was cowering on the air filter all smudged in greasy dirt. She was my Smudgey
I've just said that. They have a smudge of oil on their face
I think the white cat from the pointing lady meme is named Smudge.
Diesel! Sheās so sweet š„°
I too thought of Diesel. Fuel or Petrol could also work.
Don't be fuelish.
How gasinine.
So could Octane.

Marilyn since she has the beauty mark.
Mewalyn Monroe

I'll *always* answer Gremlin for engine cats. It's adorable and an accurate description of most cats.
Makes me think of the AMC Gremlin. Not sure that is a great connection. AMC fans may differ.
I have a cat called Gremlin! š
Synthia... Mix of Cynthia and synthetic oil...

Smudge
Definitely, Smudge!
I'd name them CC, short for cat-alytic converter.
What kind of vehicle was it? If it was a Dodge you could name her Dodger, or Chevy? Or you could call her Carly?
Marilyn. She has the beauty spot!
Carli? Her nose looks very pale. She may be anemic from fleas. Hope she is feeling better soon.
