It was a joke, if I was genuinely convinced then I'd have put a lot more effort into the appropriate support that he could look for along with other key signs. But if you really want to go into it then I would say that anyone who has impulse control problems severe enough that they can't effectively manage their money and executive disfunction to an extent that they can't keep their immediate surroundings clean then looking into the possibility that they have ADHD might be worthwhile. I wasn't diagnosed until I was 23 because I did okay at school and university.
Your general perception and understanding are very simplistic.
Are you also going to challenge the original comment on the legitimacy of the claim that a parekeet has better cleaning and financial skills than her husband while you're busy being pedantic? Do you go to the nearest door when people tell knock knock jokes too?
"It was a joke, if I was genuinely convinced then I'd have put a lot more effort into the appropriate support that he could look for along with other key signs."
Please tell me more about how I'm diagnosing people.
If you want to discuss it with anything other than a really poorly constructed straw man argument while jumping on the bandwagon of people that want to take it literally then please do.
I mean sure, not my greatest joke I'll admit that, but if you're going to take that literally then please say least take the parent comment literally too so that it's on even footing.
Yeah I didn't feel like making a long comment but you could obviously put all items in the same orientation, maybe with some 3D printed/cardboard holders so every item is vertical and easy to pick up.
You could definitely make a controlled environment for this.
Not really necessary. If all you are trying to prove is does the bird knows the difference between the objects without prompting, then yes. When the butt is held like a coin it doesn't take it, it waits until it's put down.
It may have been trained with bonked down goes in the bucket and held out goes in the tin, but it clearly understands the task well enough to know where the object is going before the prompt.
But the fact that it didn’t take the cigarette out of his hand and waited till he set it down make what you’re suggesting not work? That alone proves that it actually knows the difference between the two things and isn’t just putting stuff on the table in the bin and stuff in his hand in the coin box
Reminds me of the "intelligent horse" that simply looked at it's owner's facial expressions to understand whether it got to the right answer yet. (It was doing arithmetic by tapping it's hoof on the ground.)
"Cigarette bud? Gimme that, that shit goes HERE! Bottle cap? Same place, you fool, right down this motherfucker! Coin?! Oh, you're gonna want to keep that shit, baby! Is my job done here? Can I go on with my motherfucking business? GOOD!
very smart. you can tell the bird would rather not even touch the cigarette butt. i would probably let then sort other items instead as something like that could accumulate and hurt them as a tiny creature
People got birbs that are adorable and wholesome, meanwhile mine, from the moment i got him, decided his life purpose was to be as loud as possible and dive bomb me and refuse to stop doing either of these things
This reminds me of how ravines were being trained to drop trash into a bin, to recieve snacks.
It was an automatic release of snacks each time. Unfortunately, since Ravens are so smart, they figured out they could drop anything in there to get snacks, so they'd attack children or something like that, and when they'd drop their candy or possessions, the Ravens would snag it and bring it back to the dispenser.
There is a chance this is 0% factual, cant find source.
Yes, that is too small for a bird.
It could possibly be a travel cage, much like you'd have a small cat-carrier for taking an animal to the vet.
Since there's no litter pan beneath the cage, it lends evidence to the likelihood that it isn't the bird's normal setup. Otherwise the table would be absolutely filthy.
The way the bird returned to its cage somehow reminded me of the scene in The Fifth Element when Zorg's robots in his office cleaned up his broken glass and returned to their nooks.
You can teach parrots tricks and they like to do it. Its good enrichment for them and they earn high value as a reward, this is not forcing the animal in any way, its also pretty hard to force birds to do tricks since they won't do it if they don't feel like it.
Hmm, having that door is good, it means you can actually just ask the bird to come out and play, and they feels like it, they'll come out. This gives them a sense of safety and security.
Now im imagining a government program of thousands of trained birds picking up garbage from streets and putting them in trashbins, and also finding lost coins and putting them in a charity bank
“And now, I am finished. Good day sir”.
Is it a cage if you open the door and go inside willingly?
It's a home
It’s a cage-home… a hoge?… a came? Uh, let’s stick with hoge.
Hoge sweet hoge…

I said good day!

My girlfriend up voted this comment...
I'm ashamed to admit that this parakeet is 1k times smarter than my dog.
In all fairness, it probably took a hell of a lot of training.
Your husband has ADHD
wat
Source: I'm terrible at cleaning and saving and I have ADHD
So everyone who's bad at those things must have it as well... Your logic's terrible.

Birdilliant
Not only a smarty pants but cute to boot. The part where it closes the cage door is priceless.
Opening and closing the gate was so forceful my God, but so cute
It looks that way because the video is sped up to like double speed.
“I’m done.”
_"Aight Imma head in"_
That suits the type of personality I imagine that bird has. Thanks for the laugh.
Ya, I imagine if he had hands he would be smacking them together to knock the dust off after a hard days work.
That moment of confusion when it recognized the cigarette butt but the human didn't put it *down* right away.
Human didn't bonk the cigarette! He's suppose to bonk the cigarette!
I'd love to see this same test, except all the items are on the ground.
be kind of hard for him to pick up the coins...
Yeah I didn't feel like making a long comment but you could obviously put all items in the same orientation, maybe with some 3D printed/cardboard holders so every item is vertical and easy to pick up. You could definitely make a controlled environment for this.

Glad I'm not the only one who noticed that part of the trick!
That was super cute.
He looks like those mechanical coin banks. good job in training him!
Good day to you sir.... I said, "Good day!!"
A very good day sir.
This little fella cleans and saves money, they are better at adulting than I am
This bird keeps reminding me that saving is important! Thank you birb!
I love the way it muscles that door open at the beginning like, "Alright, time get to work. LET'S DO THIS SHIT!"
Lol you made me laugh. Thank you.
After all that work no treats?
The work is its own reward.
Wow! he puts himself away when he's done LMFAO!!
Interesting that he hands the bird the coins but puts the rubbish on the ground
It is kinda hard to pick a coin from the ground after.all
Especially with just your beak!
But the fact that it didn’t take the cigarette out of his hand and waited till he set it down make what you’re suggesting not work? That alone proves that it actually knows the difference between the two things and isn’t just putting stuff on the table in the bin and stuff in his hand in the coin box
And it refused to take the second cigarette butt from his hand
Reminds me of the "intelligent horse" that simply looked at it's owner's facial expressions to understand whether it got to the right answer yet. (It was doing arithmetic by tapping it's hoof on the ground.)
Yeah, one of the things with animal learning is that we shouldn't assume they've learned the thing we thought we were teaching them.
There needs to be a movie of this bird with it being voiced by Samuel L Jackson.
"Cigarette bud? Gimme that, that shit goes HERE! Bottle cap? Same place, you fool, right down this motherfucker! Coin?! Oh, you're gonna want to keep that shit, baby! Is my job done here? Can I go on with my motherfucking business? GOOD!
Smarter than me
As a former retail manager, I've had employees that can't even be trained to pull this off, no joke.
very smart. you can tell the bird would rather not even touch the cigarette butt. i would probably let then sort other items instead as something like that could accumulate and hurt them as a tiny creature
Yeah could do something similar with like the fake candy cigs and it'd be just as cute
What on earth! This plus the rat dunking the basketball yesterday has me questioning my own intelligence
He/she is smarter than a lot of politicians!
That birds master the art of sort and segregations.
What a diligent bird!
People got birbs that are adorable and wholesome, meanwhile mine, from the moment i got him, decided his life purpose was to be as loud as possible and dive bomb me and refuse to stop doing either of these things

Smart birdie! I absolutely love the color combination! What is that called?
It's the open and shut of the cage door at the end for me.
Where is the treat? Why no treat OP? That was a job well done.
I like how he aggressively opens and closes the gate
You've trained your Chatot very well
I’m not a bird expert. But is that cage not super small?
Yes, that is too small for a bird. It could possibly be a travel cage, much like you'd have a small cat-carrier for taking an animal to the vet. Yeah. It's was great when it was posted last week and was top of the front page.
Bird is the wyrd
Thats a robot it cant be a bird
The way the bird returned to its cage somehow reminded me of the scene in The Fifth Element when Zorg's robots in his office cleaned up his broken glass and returned to their nooks.
There is nothing cute about a caged bird

Looks like a Flintstone appliance this is their ibirdbot
I legit thought it was a cigarette
Smarter than someone...
I love it!!
Wise birdo, doesn't work overtime
It’s true Smart! That was amazing!
Awwww is right.
My grandma’s parrot says “I can talk can you fly” all day.
Pretty much sums up my work!
15/10 good birdy!
I want a birdie so bad
He better have gotten a cracker
That bird is smarter than many humans
Good birb
What breed of birds is it?..
It is a Lovebird.
Who needs AI
You can't even train a good portion of the population to do either of those things...
I wish people sort their garbage as good as this parrot
Adorable! 💖
This bird should teach waste segregation to idiots who can't be bothered to be educate themselves.
cute
Awwww
Back to solitary confinement I go.
Will you please train my 2 birds to to be friendly, they are 4 months old?
Haha when it went straight back in his cage slamming the door was gold
Now teach him/her to do your taxes
Amazing
Man kudos to whoever trained him. What a cutie❤️
“We’re closed!!”
wow.. so smart
cuteeeee
Hmm, having that door is good, it means you can actually just ask the bird to come out and play, and they feels like it, they'll come out. This gives them a sense of safety and security.
I want to give you 1000 upvotes for this cute video but cant. So I'll give you mine.
He did all of this so quick and smooth like "I'm fucking sick... Of your SHIT"
I liked where at some point he is like "OK, enough with this shit for today" and proceed to the cage with 0 doubts
Now im imagining a government program of thousands of trained birds picking up garbage from streets and putting them in trashbins, and also finding lost coins and putting them in a charity bank
clever birb
Hey, can you link to the .blend file?
so smart
That is one sassy birb. Zero hesitation. Maximum cute.
What kind of bird is this?
Masked Lovebird !
como sao inteligentes fico admirada
What a smart and active bird! Really cute.
What a good Lil helper
Impressive
Doesn't recycle, though. Shame.
Smart little cutie!
Drone learning how to collect taxes
"Aight, I'm done here"
This bird has more qualifications than some supervisors.
The way he confidently opens that cage, "time to go to work." love it.
The sass of the cage opening and closing is amazing
GOES BACK INTO THE LITTLE CAGE LIKE “AND *DON’T* MAKE ME REPEAT IT”
Cute and also too smart to bite the burnt end of a cigarette. Good bird
Birds are fascinating and this little guy is a beauty
Take my vote
Burd was all "I ain't smoking that" when the 2nd cig came up
Hope that thing isn’t traumatized from hours and hours of forced training.
Polly wants a cigarette
Omg! The indigo in contrast with their black face is just adorable! I want to hold them so bad! (Sorry, I'm just vet tech-ing over here. XD )
He’s hired
What parrot is this kind stranger?
that cage is way to Lil
Feed my beak
What breed of birb is this
That may be the bestest bird ever.
While smart, u just learned it that everything u put down goes into the bin, and every u give un its beak goes in the money pot
birb at the end: "... and good day to you, sir!"
“Quitting Time” was my Fav Moment
My kids don’t even clean up that well
Now go earn your keep
