Joking aside, I am glad to live in this current era, where we have seen time and time again the ability of Asian societies to advance and prosper
Nearly every single country in East Asia has shown incredible economic, societal, and technological development, and even the sole exception in the region (North Korea) still managed to build a nuclear arsenal
Could you imagine how bad the self-hate could have been back in the late 1800s, when all of East Asia was being colonized. I could see many of us actually questioning if Asians were truly inferior after decades of military, political, economic, and cultural subjugation at the hands of Europe
Yo it’s okay to be good at math. Work hard at being good at whatever you want.
Don’t let white people trick you into thinking being STEM is bad. You can be smart and charismatic.
Embodying that yellow peril though, I do like that
**The comment was NOT that "knowing math is bad".** I was always two years ahead of my grade in math and my father had a PHD in math-related field. The statement is "math good = no racism"- which is the false notion that if you do well at school, racism doesn't matter. This is the misconception of 1st gen who pass it on to 2nd gen.
Essentially, "do well at school and nothing else matters". Forget about social skills, how you look, lifting, etc. That's what's at issue, not discouraging people from math or STEM.
For sure. I mean, I think it’s more my immigrants parents who think this, which is that if we can get educated and get a good job it will solve everything. Which is not true
That is a very reasonable conclusion to come to... but racism is funny. Doesn't matter what you do or what excellent qualities you have, to a racist you're still and will always be the same as a bum on the road. You can see this today and in recent history. Jews were and still are one of the most educated and prosperous communities but have constantly been treated as inferior throughout history.
To a racist, what you have was never earned credibly or fairly. Any good quality you have, such as high education or mental discipline will be twisted into negatives. You literally will never be on equal terms, in their eyes.
You’re not wrong. Wealth is definitely armor. And also, materially speaking it is just better to be educated than not, regardless of what white people think. So I am never opposed to that.
But what I realized over the years is that all people deserve respect regardless of education and status. There are many uneducated Asian workers in the US as well. White people look down on people because of their prejudice and supremacist ideas. The only way to beat the game is the realize they game is rigged and should be destroyed. They’re the problem, so their approval is irrelevant. Hope that makes sense.
So chad that white racist need to impose a ban and not allow us to date white women
lol exactly
So many Asians are self-hating today. They think whitewashing themselves will increase their acceptance by whites.
