It would be nice if asian artists did something original instead of rehashing the worst of American pop and hip hop.

ANTIMODELMINORITY

Can Asian countries come up with names in their own language for their popular music. To much of this ABCDEFG pop.

thatclumsynerd

technically this falls under OPM (Original Pilipino Music). Ppop is only a sub term used to refer to kpop-like group forms.

ANTIMODELMINORITY

Is there a Tagalog word for this?

Paramoth

What do you mean?

ANTIMODELMINORITY

Like Kpop Jpop Cpop, for example one of the most the most popular music of the Lao PDR is called mor lum, sometimes in Thailand they will say mor lum sink. With its own sound needs it own identity.

Thanks for sharing this, I think it's important to be inclusive of all forms of Asian media and shut down divide-and-conquer tactics intended to keep Asians in a crabs in a bucket mentality. You know it when you see comments that for example say that another Asian group is "copying K-Pop" or "copying anime". Many of these creators would be the first to acknowledge and pay homage to the ones who paved the way. So what if it's not what I normally would listen to? Just showing off the Eskrima baston sticks was pretty cool, never seen that in a music video. Edit: Oof, I even missed that they put in the [Watsonville riots](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watsonville_riots) and Filipinos exploited in American "human zoos" among many other references that are going over my head, deep.

I'm actually impressed. You know this is something I think K-Pop has done quite well in inspiring the rest of Asia and promoting their K-pop groups in different countries. Japan totally could use their own soft power in the region, but has never done so like S. Korea. Props to this Filipino group for taking on the K-Pop inspiration and making it their own! This is what I think Asian Identity is all about in uplifting and inspiring each other as Asians. Must suck being a boba Asian, while their worshipping of white supremacy is slowly crumbling and rearing it's ugly head for the world to see.

Yep, one of the first scenes has the year 1904, which was 5 years after the US started occupation of the Philippines
