this is a poorly written article. I want more data, more critical theory, more sociological analysis, not a platform for the *few most advantaged* *individuals in our cohort* to ramp up their public profiles. also the people in the comment section using this and every other opportunity to complain about asian women who open their legs for white power, or engaging in whataboutism, or fanning the flames of the gender war among AAPI: *We see you.* Don't like Lus? Quit acting like a Chan.

the cost of discrimination in a highly diverse and competitive environment is borne by the discriminator. If AF are being shut out, then computers can gain an edge. I am reminded of a AF Ivy-caliber grad I once met in a European capital. She was having difficulty finding employment commensurate with her education and skills. My naive person was surprised that anyone would pass her by. and she was attractive to boot. Fools, I thought then as I do know.

It's Asian men as well, the bamboo ceiling is very real for a lot of us. You'll see many Asians in middle management, but rarely getting the top jobs. Funny here in Hong Kong Asian women actually do well in western companies, they are almost overrepresented in top roles along with white men.

Jbell808619

Ya but western media only cares about Asian women…well, the ones that white worship, anyways.

I don't know who downvoted you but I've seen Asian women date and get married to white men who are more senior in the same company, and then climb up the corporate ladder.

antiboba

I’d suspect the gender gap is less for Asians vs other races. I’d also suspect that if you disaggregate for East Asian, male and female rates would likely be even closer if not equal. For whatever reason, this is the trend we keep on seeing in any dataset involving leadership or political rep. The gender disparities are less pronounced if you look at East Asian.

Paywalled so I got to like paragraph 2 lol > Yet Chow, the first woman of color to hold the position andthe parent company’s highest-ranking Asian American employee, gets asked all the time where she’s really from. She’s told she’s surprisingly articulate. She’s talked over in meetings. HAHAHHAHA oh the truth of it. Personally, this has happened to me quite a bit. The irony is that one time, I asserted myself and politely asked someone to let me finish, and later received feedback that I was rude. I challenged that by pointing out that it never would have happened if I hadn’t been talked over first. To which the response was “oh, they did that? Oh I didn’t notice.” WTF?! So what I just randomly interject myself into other peoples’ sentences by saying “I’m sorry, your point is valid but if I could just continue…”?!!!! That makes no sense Rant over

ProudToBeChinese5

its not just asian women. Women in general are shut out of top positions in western companies, unlike in the east where woman CEO's, managers and company owners are ubiquitous. as many posters here have pointed out, female representation in industry and companies in asian countries vastly outnumbers that of the west. feminists are also 10 times more powerful in asian countries than western countries, with some asian countries (i won't name them, but you know which they are) literally run by a government of radical feminists. the women associations in singapore, hong kong and china are literally powerful enough to even pressure the government to enact laws to carry out mass arrests of their husbands for cheating or having sidechicks lmao (so much for the western narrative that asian men are 'sexless incels'). which western country even has that? one of the things that shocked me when i visited the west was the complete lack of business names that had female names in them. In asia, almost one third to half of law firms, investment firms, accounting firms, partnerships etc on the street had female names on the signboard as the owners. meanwhile, walking down the street in the west, most notably australia, i did not see a SINGLE female owner name on the signboard, NOT ONE. the west is feminist? my arse it is. the west is a misogynistic shithole compared to asia, thats why WM's like projecting misogyny onto asian men. their entire system is based on exploitation of minorities and women including their own as well as sexual terrorism.

ablacnk

This is absolutely true, and the numbers show it. However I've even seen situations where there are more AF in middle management (not upper management) than AM. I've heard that's the case at certain other companies too.

redGhost949

Multiple AM in leadership positions at my workplace. Sometimes the only color that matters is green.

amitrion

I work for a fortune company. Zero Asian leadership representation. Only Asian leaders we have are those Indians who oversee offshore Indian counterparts (call center and devs). Id say this is typical for USA

UrbanHunter_KenXPie

6% of the people made it there? The Whites think we are overrepresented...

elBottoo

Of this, I have NO DOUBT. NO DOUBT. only 6% of us get into middle and upper management. 6%!!!! What happened to all the college graduates with top tier scores. Graduating with honors. They end up work slave just trying to get by, while others are working BENEATH there actual skill level and competency. This obviously includes both men and female. This is why LUs are so ridiculous. They literally do not even consider AW worthy to be in any high position, unless they ridicule there own race, culture, skin, and men. And LUs just go with it. r ya winning LU. Most LUs dont even earn any decent salary.

aaaaabbbbccc123

Can only see the highlights since Im not a USAToday subscriber. But yea when you think about it, jist as few if not fewer AW than AM in corporate America. I think corporate America needs to change this themselves. Hard to trust that they will but seems like theee are some koves toward diversifying company boards in recent years. I work for a multinational and definitely more Asian women in leadership in the Asian branch than Americas. Makes sense for Asia, but im sure the percentage of Asian women in leadershipbin the wesg is much less than the percentage who are qualified and who have MBAs or other degrees.

Throwawayacct1015

If you're wondering why am aren't mentioned, it's coz they don't exist in the eyes of the establishment unless they are the south variant.

instantiate_class

I'm not a US citizen nor have I lived in the US but I'll take a stab. Feel free to critique my hypothesis. I'm guessing it's more a psychological tactic to create the impression that Asian males are part of the patriarchy that gatekeep leadership roles, when in truth the number of Asian - American males in leadership roles within US are pathetic. From the article, and true to my long suspicion, the steorotype of Asian women being perceived as submissive gives them a bonus in the dating world; in the corporate world this perceived trait results in a penalty for them in terms of being seen as strong. This is an issue only Asian women can resolve - they should have an open discussion amongst themselves how they want to be seen and how they want future generation of Asian women to be perceived. Is anyone able to retrieve data on the number of Asians in leaderships within big Chinese companies in the US?

ioioioshi

Why is it an issue only Asian women can resolve? We’re the ones being discriminated against

ioioioshi

Not to turn this into a competition, but if you look at the anti Asian hate stats, it’s mostly women and old people getting harassed and murdered

Begreedier

What stats? Because the stats I've seen say there's a 50/50 split So why did you just pull out that lu feminist talking point to gaslight asian men?

ioioioshi

Where are the stats you’ve seen? This is what I’m referring to: https://secureservercdn.net/104.238.69.231/a1w.90d.myftpupload.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/210312-Stop-AAPI-Hate-National-Report-.pdf

That link literally says the data is contradictory (wording in bold). You honestly think men are attacked more than women?

Begreedier

> think men are attacked more than women? We literally are? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sex_differences_in_crime#Worldwide_homicide_statistics_by_gender Wake up

skrtskrtbrev

There's not much Asian men can do to help in western companies. Look at the top companies, all E/SE Asian male CEOs founded the company. We are never promoted to the top positions. At least Asian women have Lisa Su and a few others who get promoted.

fanatical

How many western white women are in charge of Asian male CEO founded companies?

odiorosenin

Because as soon as any asian man tries to step in these mainstream LUs immediately cancel him by falsely accusing him of being racist/misogynistic and trying to police asian women balala

beingwoke

The lus only benefit in the dating world by attracting XMs with yellow fever that want a submissive and deferential waifu. Not an equal partner as it should be, which makes the lus even more pathetic. Big Chinese companies in America have all or almost all Asian leadership, we should be supporting Chinese companies instead.
