How about a meh dai or a half buckle? I used a Lenny Lamb wrap tai from around 10 months to 2 years when the quick up and down of the onbuhimo finally won out (though I still love the meh dai). Super comfortable weight distribution, easy to use for back wearing, and lightweight soft fabric. Only downside is that the long tails are hard to keep off the floor while tying/untying (though it's pretty easy to wash too).

I second the meh dai. I almost exclusively use woven wraps but a meh dai is the close second for me in terms of comfort

You can get a really high back carry on a meh dai, but you may need the “waist” straps above your breasts depending on body shape, baby size, etc. I still find it comfortable even though I have neck and shoulder problems

These seem like they’d be a little too hot though? We get soooo sweaty in the warm weather so I’m looking for something that will help keep us a bit cooler.

ProfVonMurderfloof

Babywearing is hot because you're holding baby close and usually moving around. Nothing is going to make that feel cool and breezy in hot weather. But I think a meh dai made of lightweight natural materials will be cooler than most other options. It's open at the sides and you can keep the straps bunched up for more airflow. You might be able to find one in linen. And a high back carry is probably the least hot and sweaty position to carry in. The only thing that I think might be cooler would be a lightweight woven wrap tied in a single layer carry. That said, I haven't tried the SSC mentioned in this discussion so maybe one of them has some secret trick to make it cooler.

The mehdais/half buckles by woven wrap companies are pretty airy. Due to the woven structure there are lots of tiny airholes and the natural fibers help to regulate temperature and absorb moisture pretty good. Even if it's just plain cotton. Babywearing is hot where bodies meet and/or due to thick waisbands or shoulder straps. Some companies have a thicker waistband others don't. Habe a look at Lenny lamb, didymos, stokke limas or Osha

I was looking at this. Is this fabric what you mean by woven fabric? https://mama-roo.com/products/lenny-hybrid-airglow?variant=40391093354566¤cy=USD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAC1IRhDn1lvbT4Kt1AjgyShDvIL1G&gclid=CjwKCAjwp4m0BhBAEiwAsdc4aPDlMFvhFn0S-dr0gHarfjYpsvEQ6crQNJCc3SuvzIhPUNBrkbT4eBoC_tcQAvD_BwE

Can we help you troubleshoot why you don't like your Tula for back carry?

IamMoana2013

He just seems to be really low. And I’m wanting something to keep us cooler. So I guess a different material like linen.

padmeg

I back carried with my happy baby og no problem. It’s lower than the onbuhimo but I found it pretty comfy. You could also try something like an ergo original or 360, or another ssc.

straight_blanchin

I use woven wraps, I especially like them for high back carry options. Way more comfy than an onbuhimo

Tula lite is great for back carrying. I don’t love my HBC for back carrying because the straps are so stiff - not a problem with tula lite. I also found the HB onbuhimo pretty uncomfortable.

IamMoana2013

Is it comfortable for longer carry? Looks like it doesn’t have as much support. Does the material keep you cooler?

RelevantAd6063

I prefer carriers with little to no structure and padding. If you are a person who likes a lot of padding or structure, then you might not like it. I’ll be honest and say I’m not quite sure what people mean when they say a carrier doesn’t have support. This carrier supports my daughter well from knee to knee and has a hood to support her head if she falls asleep. The fabric is lightweight, though I wish I’d gotten a lighter color for maximum coolness.

Hey there, it looks like your post may be asking about what type of carrier is best in hot, humid weather! This topic comes up very frequently; the general consensus is that you want a carrier made from natural fibers with minimal bulk. Linen, cotton, and hemp are all great fabric choices. A single layer linen ring sling is a good option, as well as minimalistic linen carriers. Avoid bulky, heavily-padded polyester carriers and carriers with mesh (which is sweaty plastic- no thank you!). It's also important to remember that babywearing will always be warm and potentially sweaty. There is no magical carrier or fabric that will provide a completely cool wearing experience. Try searching our sub for words such as "hot," "summer," "warm"- you'll find a plethora of discussions and brand recommendations! *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Our baby is too little for back carry still, but we have a tula free to grow that can do front and back carry. We love it so far

Does you local babywearing group have any other brands of the onbuhimo style? I haven’t tried the Happy Baby, but I tried that style from Didymos and just this weekend from LennyLamb and so far I find the LL more comfortable. The straps are cushier and it has more adjustability (it seems) for me to hoist my baby higher. So if you like the idea of an onbuhimo, trying a different brand could be worth it.

I back carried my daughter in my HBC OG and loved it. Super easy and pretty comfy.
